Jet23
If this guy wants Adam Vinatieri money, he should make clutch kicks like Adam Vinatieri. He hasn't. That's the story here. Graham's contract demands are irrational. You can't trust him when the game is on the line. Period. Let him walk. Let some other team pay for his pressure misses.Do you know what his contract demands are? They only thing that I know of that's been reported is that he wants a long term contract, not a long term contract PLUS top 5 money. And nobody makes clutch kicks like Vinatieri.Ya huh! That Gus horse was clutch as he!!. I think he played for the Atoms...

DC_Bengals_Fan
If this guy wants Adam Vinatieri money, he should make clutch kicks like Adam Vinatieri. He hasn't. That's the story here. Graham's contract demands are irrational. You can't trust him when the game is on the line. Period. Let him walk. Let some other team pay for his pressure misses.Graham's only been in one position to make one that we really needed, that was very makable, and he missed. At least I can't recall others. That one hooked like I've never seen after being pointed dead-center, and I have to think the hold played a role. Also, the legend of Adam Vinatieri is better than the actual player. Season to season, he's very erratic. Some great years, some bad years. There's a reason he's not with the Patsies anymore - they don't screw up personnel decisions much.Compare Shayne's stats to Vinatieri's. I think you'll find he compares very favorably. You can say what you want about "clutch", but what usually turns up there is that people end up making a lot of noise about a tiny sample size. I'm not willing to base a conclusion off of that.I'm not sure if Shayne is top 5 - he might be - but I'm confident he's top 10. Let's get some kid with a massive leg who can take over long FGs and kickoffs, and let Shayne do what he does best - kicks of about 50 or less. We don't need to tie up another roster spot with a second kicker. Besides, all I'm hoping for him to do next season is kick a record amount of extra points. DC_Bengals_Fan
We don't need to tie up another roster spot with a second kicker.I dunno, how much difference in average starting position do you think we'd get from some guy who can really boom it? 5-6 kicks a game, maybe 7 yards farther back? Throw in some long FGs, I can see that being worth more than some scrub who never plays anyway. But then I've always thought special teams was underrated, I'm sort of goofy that way.Besides, all I'm hoping for him to do next season is kick a record amount of extra points. I'll hear that! Of course, the more XPs he makes, the more valuable that kickoff specialist becomes. BTW, you've outdone yourself with the eye candy. Very nice. ArmyBengal
Nice read from the official site on Shayne and this little blurb about talk:/>http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/looking-to-set-trend/0ee1414d-1727-4f6e-8edc-4c6b00707887There is a bit of coincidence in Wednesday being the day for the announcement. It's the last day Graham and the Bengals have to reach a long-term deal before the end of the season. If things don't amp up, it doesn't look like it's going to happen."There hasn't been any progress since (last year)," said Graham of talks this month. "But I've given up making predictions. I never thought I'd be the franchise player. But it will work itself out. I'm focused on the events we've got coming up and then training camp. I'm looking forward to helping our team turn it around and continue to feed off the excitement that's been going on around here."
Bearcat1975
Extending Opie's contract would have been a GREAT thing to use with the cap money saved by cutting Rudi/Deltha/Willie.Now it looks like it will cost the Bengals almost double to retain his services. Even the most self-hating fans don't get pleasure from rubbing fellow fan's faces in the history of mediocrity. They are merely disillusioned and don't buy into the optimism of others. It is something altogether different to get your jollies by telling other fans how happy you will be when the Bengals fail. There is a distinct difference between expecting failure and hoping for it. Bearcat is clearly the latter. He's admitted to looking forward to watching the O-line fail so he can say, "I told you so." It's funny to me that he was forced to change his screenname hoping to defend himself while yet again pretending to be something he's not (whether it be a mommy or a Bengal fan, I'm not yet sure). I'm sure Hair will keep the joke alive, and I will laugh at the responses. But I for one will not be giving any more of my time to an obvious mommy troll.P.S. Bearcat... Feel free to respond to this. Bearcat1975
lol a "poser Bengals fan"... that's a new one. They must all be hiding next to the "bandwagon." You all have a pretty funny interpretation of reality I'll give you that. But, to review:CincyMoms...plenty of guys post there. After all, it is just a sub-forum of cincinnati.com. But keep telling yourself otherwise. And again...I don't like that the Bengals suck, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend they took the needed steps to avoid yet another non-winning season. Sadly, with preseason rapidly approaching, your river of denial is about to hit the rapids of ineptitude. Oh yeah, and because I call the Bengals out when they do stupid crap, which is pretty much on a regular basis for the past 20 years, then that makes me a Steelers fan. Keep telling yourself that too.I mean, I get it. There is no way any of us could have a truly objective view on the Bengals, otherwise we would have given up rooting for them long ago. So we all have this willing suspension of disbelief, to put it in literary terms. We close our eyes and hope it will all be ok. And all the sportswriters and pundits are "just picking on the Bengals," when they pick them to finish in the land of suck. I get it, ok. Hey if it makes you feel any better, my predictions won't be predictions much longer. Soon they will be NFL Highlights. For the 5 seconds NFL Today gives us each week to laugh at the Bengals anyway. If the Bengals prove me wrong, I will be a crow-eating mofo. But c'mon...take off the orange glasses and you know that simply isn't going to happen. Mike Brown won't let that happen. Oh, and if he cuts a few million off the cap at the last minute again this season, you'd better put that on ignore too.
Ickey44
lol a "poser Bengals fan"... that's a new one.Actually, it's pretty dead on. Read your posts without your "anti-Bengals" colored glasses and you'll see what a tool you sound like trying to convince everyone that you really do want the Bengals to win. Just goes to show you that the hardest people to convince of someone's stupidity is the stupid person himself. CincyMoms...plenty of guys post there. After all, it is just a sub-forum of cincinnati.com. But keep telling yourself otherwise.Cincy moms go to CincyMoms to get advice from other MOM's. You sure don't make it seem like you don't like that the Bengals "suck". The river of denial you refer to is flowing from your mouth. Nobody here is saying this team will make it to the playoffs or the Superbowl. What we're saying is that they'll be better than last year and if some things happen a certain way they could have a winning season. You'd probably land in less arguments here if you actually read people's posts and responded to what's acutally in the posts instead of making up things to argue about that weren't in said posts.Oh yeah, and because I call the Bengals out when they do stupid crap, which is pretty much on a regular basis for the past 20 years, then that makes me a Steelers fan. Keep telling yourself that too.You make it sound like you're the only person here who ever has beef with anything the Bengals do. How you coexist with an ego twice your size is beyond me. Everyone here calls out the Bengals when they do something stupid. If you don't believe me, look up threads posted here last year when Chris Henry was resigned and when Willie Anderson was cut. I don't expect you to do that though, because you seem to believe that whatever's lurking in that pathetic excuse for a brain you have is the truth. Pidge
Then we will see about the oline, along with the rest of the glaring issues the Bengals didn't take care of this offseason. Are you suggesting the Bengals didn't try to address the o-line? That's what it reads like. I think they had a damn good stab at it via the draft. Maybe they could have done more in FA but there are only so many good o-lineman to go around. membengal
In all seriousness Army and mods, why hasn't that fool been run at this point?
