ArmyBengal
http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=7484I mean seriously, they don't want to do any acknowledgement at the stadium for the players that have contributed greatly to this organization and a website is the best they can come up with ?? I guess if no one can come up with a better way to honor those players that Cincinnati Bengals fans have the utmost respect for then ok, but I'm firmly believing that it's a F*CKING DISGRACE !!!Shame on the Bengals organization to fail to recognize those players that the organization has been built around... ArmyBengal
I'll respectfully disagree with you there Agreen. While I would love to see the rings, it's hard to just discredit some of the greats that have played for the Bengals and have yet have ANY type of recognition. Well, except for this super cool "virtual hall of fame" that will get lost in the internet archives, only to be brought up as another super cool idea 10 years from now when we have still yet to find a better way to acknowledge our own players...Dan Marino didn't win any rings either... Just saying.

jonf45uk
it does make you realise some of the crap we've had to endure over the years when players like lee johnson are included for "career punting leader"!!.i like the idea of trying to salute these players who have tried thier hardest in spite of the organisation they play for, but wouldn't they be better questioning the NFL as to why it has ignored our best players (anderson, riley, curtis) for years over "less deserving" players from the big teams???jon

Bearcat1975
it does make you realise some of the crap we've had to endure over the years when players like lee johnson are included for "career punting leader"!!.Funny they included him. That's the same Lee Johnson that Mike Brown ran out of town for having the audacity to suggest the Bengals front office was not fully committed to winning. They cut him the next day. And you know what else was funny about that situation? He went on to lead the league the following season, while our replacement punter averaged near the bottom of the stat page. But our replacement did so quietly, so all was well. When you think about the Bengals "greats" post 1990, Mike Brown pretty much ran them out of town one way or another:Dillon: couldn't take the losing anymorePickens: CTTLASpikes: CTTLAL Johnson: Cut mid season after remarks because he CTTLAEsiason Part Deux: Mike Brown basically talked him into taking the MNF gig over playing one more year with the Bengals.Big Willie: Cut him because of money, then did absolutely nothing with the money saved by cutting him.Who else am I missing? No need to mention all the coaches we have ran out of town. Just look over at the Steelers sideline next season for starters. "Nah, our defense don't need no stinkin' LeBeau!" By 1998, Johnson had become extremely frustrated with Cincinnati, which had not recorded a winning season since 1990. After a 33-20 loss at home during the 1998 season, Johnson publicly denounced the Bengals management and said if he was a Cincinnati fan with season tickets, he would probably sell them. Johnson was cut by the Bengals the following day, and subsequently signed with the Patriots in the following season.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Johnson_(...ootball_player)

ShulaSteakhouse
Typical Bengals. Cheap, lazy, half ass effort from the front office people per the norm.

bengalsfansince68
who cares.. a bunch of stats and no rings. I'm sorry but that to me isn't a hall of famer.I haven't been around here for a while but it does not surprise me at all that agreen is the one guy who thinks we have no players in our history deserving of recognition from our fans.Recognition is long overdue and I have about 20 players in my top 10. Arguments can be made for most of the players on the ballot. It's sad that it took so long and sad that a cyber hall is the best we can do. gregstephens
Here's my take on this whole Virtual HOF bullcrap. It's complete and typical SoP garbage. As long as we fans have the memories in our hearts and our fourm board here to lift up the memory of the greats, he can screw his friggin' internet tribute, or whatever. Frankly, if I were those guys, I wouldn't want an actual physical Bengals HOF until that prick was dead. He obviously has never cared about this team, so I don't want any hypocritcal, 'symbolic' gestures built merely to appease the long-suffering fanbase of this storied franchise. I wouldn't even want my career trivialized in the name of false honor by being a webpage on this junk that, knowing this organization, will time-out error or 404 half the time anyway!!!FREE THE BENGALS!!! VIVE LA BENGALS!!!
ArmyBengal
What's the over/under for how many weeks until you can't find the "virtual HOF" after its completion on the site anymore ??Way to pay tribute you bunch of F*CKHEADS !!! Thurmanation
What's the over/under for how many weeks until you can't find the "virtual HOF" after its completion on the site anymore ??Way to pay tribute you bunch of F*CKHEADS !!!I couldn't give two s**ts about this VHOF.Yea we have players who 'deserve' to be in the the HOF, but so does every other team in the NFL. Carry your team to a championship then you'll be worthy of entering the hall with the likes of Irvin and Aikman.

A significant percentage of our fans feel compelled to sh*t on any recognition of these players of any kind. A significant percentage of our alleged fans, SUCK!!!I don't give two sh*ts, or even one, about the ridiculous rantings of a closet Cowboys fan posing as one of our own.Good day, sir. ArmyBengal
How someone can't figure out the organization should pay tribute to the greats that have played for this team is beyond me.No names in the stadium, no place to recognize those efforts, NOTHING. The virtual hall idea ranks right up there with sh*tting in your OWN Wheaties...

They still have those banners of the players hanging on the plaza level, don't they? While not being a level of official recognition, those are actually pretty cool to see walking into the stadium.
