I know I've pimped Rey on here for a while, but I've had a change of heart. I've read a bunch of stuff on Oher lately and after watching him play and practice at the senior bowl I think he's going to be the best player to come out of this draft. I don't care about all the rumors on the internet saying that Oher is dropping. Mel Kiper is a tool. I don't think Oher will drop past the Rams.

Rey for me. I think he will have the biggest impact for a rookie this year, and he will be playing next to Rivers. Rey is a playmaker and could be the next great lb to come out of college. I know this year isn't a real deep year for lbs. but if you have a chance to get the #1 or #2 rated lb in the draft, or take a lb in later rounds that probably wont pan out, you have to make the lb pick early. I honestly think they can go out and get an OT in free agency. Draft Center in the second round, and you have fixed your oline. Then rb in the third or maybe some more oline depth. I really think the Bengals have some holes to fix, but it wont take a major overhaul to fix the problems, well maybe a new OC might help too.

In which round?

Actually, I hope you're right. Oher has as much potential as anyone in this draft, and if upside was all that mattered then I wouldn't have a problem calling Oher a blue chipper. Furthermore, it's entirely plausible a team might look at Oher's current shortcomings and conclude they're no big deal...just rough spots that need a little attention.

That said, I can't think of many draft day scenarios better than one that begins with Oher being off the board when the Bengals pick rolls around.

If the Bengals' can trade down a few spots and feel secure enough that Rey will still be there, that's my ideal scenario (and of course pick up an additional day one pick - preferably in the 2nd).

But we know that won't happen with the Bengals' most likely.

Rey is a Marvin player who would give the defense a mean leader and presence they sorely need - where the sum of his parts may outweigh his perceived value at #6.

That said I would draft o-lineman almost exclusively on day one. We know that won't happen with this franchise.

I was pimping for ACurry, but since he is not on the list and we have only 2 defensive players on the board I went with Rey Rey...If they didn't go with D with the 1st pick, I wouldn't mind MOher, after reading about him the past week or so, he may be a can't miss on the Oline and we need someone who can keep CPalmer standing up...

The only scenario I see where we could trade down a few spots would be if the Chiefs pass on Sanchez and the 49ers trade up with us to get him. But in that scenario I don't see the Raiders and Jaguars both passing on Rey.

I went with Rey. No idea since I think it's vital we sort out the O-line. Well I guess I do know why. You just can't pass on that kind of talent, especially in an area that can really help your team out. If they took one of the top 2 tackles instead I would also be delighted but picking up Rey and a a good OT in the second would be fine with me. Depending on how Orapko looks, I wouldn't sniff at picking up a pass rusher at 6 either.

Levi isn't going anywhere for a yr at least and Whitworth and Collins are there. I'd rather have an immediate impact player, possibly an instant leader, and a good OT to come in next year than just a very good OT who will need a yr at least to become fully comfortable in the NFL.

It's far too early in the scouting process for me to place my vote. You people need to get off of Rey's jock. I love the guy too, but IMHO, he's not even the top LB in this class. That distinction should go to ACurrry. If the top OT or top defensive player falls into our lap at #6 I will be very happy. That is until I hear Goodell say "With the 6th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals select Chris Wells, RB OSU."

I am a fan of Rey as well BUT if Andre Smith or Oher are available and still have pretty high draft status I say we go OLINE, OLINE, DLINE.

While I love hard hitting Linebackers, until we upgrade the DLINE the backers will just get gobbled up by the opposing OLINE.

Tackle play was not bad this year hence our Avg backers did not look to bad but still would be nice to have a force in the middle,Dhani can always go SLB which if i'm not mistaken he has played most of his career.I'm no doubting the value of Curry I just think he'll be gone if he's there at 6# I'd be more then happy to select him it's just matter do you want a SLB or a MLB...

I can't get too excited about any single player at 6, not because there won't be many great guys available, but precisely because there will be so many great guys available. The Bengals will be in a position to address just about any position -- and outside of QB anyone we take, no matter where they play, will be an upgrade -- by drafting a legit "future pro bowler" type prospect.

Give me ReyRey. Keep building that defense baby. We need a Ray Lewis to play next to our Peter Boulware. We can wait till rnd.2 for an OT. You can get one there that has about as equal talent as first round ones, the class is soooo deep.

Give me Rey WAY too good to pass up.

Although, is B.J Raji a possiblity?

as long as the pick isnt a RB, WR, S, QB or TE, Im OK with whatever, there's so many gaping holes anyone will do, dont forget whoever it is will have an extended holdout because Mikey Boy is a bean counter.

I actually expect a LOT of holdouts this year due to CBA issues, in particular the fact deals can only be prorated over 5 years.

Plus, the looming uncapped year. Agents will be hesitant to sign anything even remotely long term or back loaded.
