HairOnFire
Had they moved I'm guessing the Bengals would have followed my pathway west, perhaps morphing into the Los Angeles Bengals of Anaheim. And like a wayward lost puppy who finally finds is way home I would have happily taken them in.

Bearcat1975
Interesting responses, particularly the L.A. Bengals scenario. If I was willing to root for the team even if they went to L.A., I think I would want them to move to L.A. The Mike Brown small market excuse would no longer be valid. Well, it isn't valid now, but it would be laughable to play that card in L.A. So you have to figure more resources would be deployed in the form of a GM and scouts. Thatright there makes the move to L.A. worth it.

L.A. just happens to be the home of the one owner in sports who actually has a winning percentage worse than Mike Brown's... Donald Sterling of the Clippers. sparky151
Why would anyone assume the Bengals go to LA? That might have been Mike Brown's fantasy but the folks in LA don't seem to want an NFL team and if the market did open, other owners would want it too. I think Al Davis still claims to own it. I think Al Davis still claims to own it. There are some in Los Angeles who have never stopped trying to bring a team back. In fact, there was a blurb in my morning paper just today about the local chamber of commerce giving their mostly meaningless support to a stadium proposal fronted by the Roski Group. It goes on. The greatest problem has always been the need for a new stadium, with the latest cost projections topping 850 million. And that only gets you started. Add to that the cost of buying and relocating an existing team or the franchise costs associated with starting a new expansion team (200 million plus for a franchise fee?) Big coin no doubt, and the problems are compounded by zero chances of any public financing. Seriously, none. As for Al, he still mumbles about how he still controls a marketplace he left behind more than a decade ago, but he lost those lawsuits, giving control of the marketplace to the NFL itself. While technically considered "open" no existing NFL team can move into the Los Angeles area without a vote by all NFL owners....a move that was approved after then Seattle owner Ken Behring attempted to move the Seahawks. Furthermore, the NFL has declared Los Angeles to be a secondary marketplace for the Chargers...giving that team a greater claim than Al Davis can muster. ArmyBengal
I would have probably followed wherever the team went until we got a new team in Cincinnati, which I HONESTLY believe would happen. Someone would look at the fact that this city had given endless support to an absolute sh*t sandwich of an organization and would again in the furture. Anyway around an NFL team would get mad support in this city and would be a money maker for whomever brought a team back...

Big underdogs in both playoff games leading up to this, yet winning comfortably in both. They now possess momentum combined with the huge advantage of playing the NFC Championship game at home in 70 degree Glendale against the Eagles instead of in frigid Philadelphia! What's weird is the ONLY reason this happened was because of the Cincinnati Bengals. Had they not played Philly to a tie earlier in the season, the Eagles and the Cardinals would have had the same regular season record with the Eagles getting the tie breaker by beating the Cards head-to-head back on Thanksgiving Day. HairOnFire
What's weird is the ONLY reason this happened was because of the Cincinnati Bengals. Had they not played Philly to a tie earlier in the season.... I said it then and I'm repeating it now. Yes, the game was meaningless for the Bengals, but that would have been true regardless of the results. But the tie added flavor, sizzle, flair, boom, bang, and maybe even a little pow. Years for now few of you will be able to recall any of the Bengals wins or losses this season, but whenever you look at that 4-11-1 record the tie is going to stand out. You'll remember it. Sort of. HairOnFire
Speaking of the tie, the agent for the guy who missed a 47-yarder to win it says there have been no talks recently about a new deal. BengalSiS dropped a few nuggets on Go-Bengals recently. Nothing groundshaking, just squashing some fan talk about Graham looking for a monster 3million per year sort of deal. Said he's most interested in contract length and speculated he's looking for something like a 5-year deal....ballpark money around 2 million per. Darrin Simmons also said in a story on bengals.com that they will bring in competition for Larson, so all you Huber fans can continue to dream. Adding Huber would be an outstanding move, but I'd be fine with throwing the doors open for street FA's. And no, Im not kidding. Larson has been horrible in back-to-back seasons and that's unforgivable when the head coach puts so much importance on winning the battle of field position. ArmyBengal
Agree that you can't count on Larson to kick the deep one and assist in changing the field position in your favor. He's just to inconsistent. Where he does do well is pinning the opposing team down within the 20. I think he has ranked in the top 5 in that category since he's been here. I would still like to see Huber or anyone for that matter that is more consistent and seems to have a bigger leg. It's odd because that was exactly most thought they were getting out of Larson when he came here.
