walzav29
The 3 things that boggle my mind is 1. The draft. You do need receivers, but you also need a running back. Why would you put your faith in Perry?2. The release of Willie. The o-line sucks and you would have to give it a shot to hope that WIllie could come in at some point in the season. Andrews has not impressed me 1 bit. Just because you franchise a guy doesn't mean he is worthy of it.3. The signing of Chris Henry. This showed 100% that Marvin isn't running the ship which means the inmates are running the asylum. All in all. The Bad 'Ole Days are back. The most sickening thing is when they are 0-8 and the offense starts to click. They go 6-2 and we go through the same crap again. Being a Bengal fan is like having a cold sore. By the way. You notice how Pittsburgh and Tennessee are always fundamentally sound? Frustrating.

Unlike here, where the coach just bitches about it but does nothing to stop it.
walzav29
Exactly. This sucks. Marvin was doing things right when he 1st got here. What happened?
BengalszoneBilly
Exactly. This sucks. Marvin was doing things right when he 1st got here. What happened? What happened is he rode in on the coattails of Dick LeBeau. It all ran out after 2005. Lewis is merely a linebacker coach at best. volcom69
Not Marvin our savior of this team come on now not him, what a joke of a coach and yes the best he is good at is either a LB coach or a DEF cordinator. This year is going to be bad though with Marvin probably leavin Chad once again wanting out and TJ prob wanting out after this year it could get pretty bad. Its the best preparation they'll get all season other than the bye week. The Bengals came out and played like sh#t. This is coaching. Baltimore knew what we were doing better than we did. We knew less than the fans about what Baltimore would do.....run the ball. Its clear now, Marvin needs to go.
Spor_tees
In another thread I questioned the intelligence of the Bengals players also. I mean how many times does it take getting burned by screen plays and dump offs to running backs before the Bengals D-linemen and linebackers learn to read them. There are a lot of other things that makes me think some of the players are just plain dumb. Levi Jones lined up off the line of scrimmage? Geathers and the other defensive ends consistently would lose outside containment. Several of the defensive players still can't tackle, they instead go for the big hit and end up bouncing off Ravens players. Several times when defensive backs and linebackers blitzed, they would run past the play! And if they didn't run past the play, they would fail to break down to make the tackle and instead get juked out. Another consistent fault of blitzing was their ineptness to disguise the blitz. Ahmed Brooks may have been too dumb to learn the Bengal's defense, but at least he could time his blitzes so that the other team wasn't sure he was coming or not. Dexter Jackson is by far the worst blitzing safety I have ever seen. He would make it so evident he was blitzing that sometimes he would end up getting double teamed because more than one guy saw he was blitzing! I can't wait until Ndukwe is healthy and can play, because Dexter will be then riding the pine. Why Cory Lynch didn't replace Jackson in this game is beyond me. I know it is more of a psychological problem than an intelligence problem with Carson, but why was he so unable to read the Ravens blitzes and audible? Or why couldn't he read the correct hot route for the blitzes? Isn't this the reason the Bengals went out and got a guy like Utech? So that Carson had a guy he could throw to when TJ and Chad were double teamed, or when the defenses would blitz? And what about Chris Perry? Why didn't he get dump off passes when protection would break down? He had only one reception the entire night! In fact Bengal's runningbacks had only 3 receptions in the game for a total of 8 yards! Taking a look at the Ravens stats, their runningbacks had 6 receptions for 56 yards. And those stats for the Ravens came from a ROOKIE QB checking down to his backs when he started to feel pressure (which was not very often). What all this boils down to, is that the Bengals are a poorly coached and prepared football team with a lack of focus motivation. These are not all the fault of the players, but also the fault of the coaches and team management. The Bengals did not keep the best players for this team and have not taken the correct decisions personnel wise to make this a successful team. It is REALLY sad. Like many have said before me, there is nothing we as fans can do about it, except watch and complain every week about how things never change. Instead the Bengals just find new ways to fail at winning every year.

Pidge
Yeah, coaching does indeed appear to suck. I mean, every other team is full of athletes (who, excuse the crass generalisation, aren't considered deep thinkers on the whole) and yet their athletes seems to at least have been trained in the Pavlov dog manner. Ours just spend the game chasing their tails and eating their own faeces.
agreen_112
Perry doesn'st suck, he and Watson can get the job done... Our offensive line is the real issue.
