walzav29
I'm telling you now. Brooks is a bust. At least for this year he is. If he didn't heal in a year, then there are serious issues. If Takeo is washed up, then forget him. The Bengals need a veteran LB to add to this young LB core.

Brooks hasn't proved much, add the injuries and he has the making of a bust writen all over him. Especially with a torn groin, that just doesn't sound good.I still think we'll be fine with Odell, Rivers, Jeanty and D. Jones. Maybe one of the two guys from Arizon will step up. Scottishbengal
I think the fact that he's still on the streets says a lot about what the teams around the league think about him, at this point in his career.Maybe worth a shout to give some experience/intensity/guidance to the younger players as a step into coaching???? I don't know the guy so can't say he'd be coach material, just a thought thats all.
Ickey44
He's still productive, it wouldn't hurt to have him around as a backup. I still dislike him though. I remember being absolutely pissed off when he gave his first interview as a Bill. The interviewer asked him what it felt like to be a Buffalo Bill and Spikes replied, "Like a winner." At them time I was pissed, but now it's just hilarious cause they've lost more games than us since then....

El Tigere
THurman is gone! Bring in Spikes at all cost!
TJJackson
Not at all costs, but it would not hurt to bring him in for a talk with the man he rejected when he left - MarvinIs he back to being a humble man who knows his limits and can rebuild the bridge he burned with marvin? Is he fully healthy and retains some semblance of his power, mobility, and quicks? Is he ready to earn vet min? We'd need a 'yes' to all three questions to even consider himSeems unlikely
Adam-Whodey
well with Odell gone we definately need to pick up another backer with some upside
Ickey44
Unfortunately, I agree. Our linebacking dept just took a huge blow. Thurman not only produced, but he get the rest of the defense pumped up and intense, kinda like Ray Lewis. I know he's got off the field problems, but what would it have hurt to let him try to make the team?
walzav29
How about now?
Pidge
For vet minimum sure. He'll most likely spend the year on the DL anyway if he signs with the Bengals.
mgilgris
Marvin has too much of an ego to allow Spikes return. I fear another year of being literally run over on D.

HAPPYJAQ
The sad news is that the Bengals have to get another MLB now, as it seemed like they almost planned on Odell being the backup in Week 1, with hopefully regaining the starting spot sometime during the season. If they're for real about keeping Rivers at WLB to ease his transition, then they're is nobody else other than Brooks that can be the MLB. I say pick up Spikes for a moderate, 2-year salary. HAPPYJAQ
My other question is, can Spikes play MLB? I remember him playing inside and some outside in the 3-4 under LeBeau. I think the more likely scenario is Jeanty, Jones and Rivers on the SLB to WLB. We still need another player to back up at MLB, unless they believe that Brooks can stay healthy/productive enough to do it.
BengalPimp
With his age, and recent history, the dude is an Injury waiting to happen and definately not a MLB, so he's not what we need.
BengalPimp
Since a lot of people seem to like him again(after how he bashed us when he basically forced his trade),I've got an old Takeo Spikes jersey (black) that i'd be more than happy to sell you guys.....any offers? HAPPYJAQ
I don't know if I really would say I am in love with him, since he defected to Buffalo and all, but he fills a need at a position that is not as deep with the release of Odell. He seems like he always respected Marvin, if not the organizaton due to past experience, it is one of the better LB's available right now. At the very least, he could provide some decent depth in the case of injury to one of starters, without a huge drop off in ability/production. He played well last year in Philly and was a cap casualty primarly due to his salary. At this point in his career, he would be a decent stop-gap, if nothing else.
