fattyjay
Odell's new number...45Not bad I guess. I think LB numbers outside of the 50's are kinda cool.

Kazkal
Odell will get it back when mays is cut or more then likely take 50.....Keith Rivers I don't think will care which number he gets plus I doubt brooks will sell it away.

But yeah, Brooks will give it to him. And I don't know how Corey Mays was even allowed to wear #51, since Odell was still on the team??? Kazkal
Didn't Odell wear 45 all throughout training camp? Maybe they wanna wait till cut a guy from last year to avoid feelings being hurt PS,Hmmm They gave Sherry a number in the 80's which they don't tend to do inless they seriously like the TE,Makes me wonder if they plan losing one of the current 3. As far as Rivers, Hobson mentioned in his one-on-one with Rivers that he was going to get a number in the 40's. If/when the roster gets pared down after training camp, I don't know if players will be allowed to switch numbers. I can't say I remember a guy wearing one number in camp but switching to another one for the regular season.
Kazkal
I know why Odell doesn't have 51 now I'm talking about when he was a rookie. , I don't know if players will be allowed to switch numbers.Um yes they can because Linebackers aren't allowed to wear numbers in the 40's just 50-59 and 90-99I can't say I remember a guy wearing one number in camp but switching to another one for the regular season.Odell as a Rookie had a #45 which he wanted to keep because it was his college number,But he couldn't do so because linebackers have to wear a number between 50-59 and 90-99 so he switched to 51 later on... TJJackson
Brooks was paid well, but not a fortune (as a r3 pick) so I doubt he'd refuse 20k or so from River's eventual signing bonus to relinquish the 55I don't think Brooks has a particular attachment to his number. Further, some players are rather superstititous - he may actually welcome a new number as part of clearing away the ghosts of the last two years, where he has been mostly (but not entirely) a disappointment
Kazkal
Brooks I just figure he'd be tired switching around his number since would be the 3rd time. but your right about hes a 3rd round pick and would be glad to take the money just question if rivers would wanna pay 20,000 for 55..........3. Pat Sims #90 Dear god..... dry.gif Why won't he just pick #95?Roy Manning has it atm,I could see sims switching to it if Roy gets cut since its his college number. Manning won't make the team, so Sims will hopefully take #95. I just don't want to see #90 on the D-Line .

BengalszoneBilly
How about 10k billy and a 6th round pick in the 2009 draft.I'm sticking with 20K. I still have fines to pay, plus the truck needs new tires and a full tank of gas. That should shoot the wad right there.
Thurmanation
Back when i played i always loved #5, but since my team had no number 5 jersey i couldn't wear it, So i stuck with my favorite LB Keith Brooking at #56.It was always funny though back then we ran a 3-4 and a 4-4, rarely ran a 4-3, and our LB numbers went; 33 - 53 - 56 - 96, and our hybrids were 55 and 35. Kazkal
I'll be damned, with that being said LB's still can't wear numbers in 40's so doesnt matter.PS, Was it maybe pollack I remember him not wanting a number in the 90's because he felt was DE number and if they were gonna have him play LB he wanted a LB number. Kazkal
BENGALS CUT A COUPLEPosted by Mike Florio on May 1, 2008, 1:45 p.m.Last season, the Cincinnati Bengals went through more linebackers than plastic handcuffs, as injuries (and a suspension) left them with hardly any healthy bodies. Two of the guys who filled in have been rewarded for their efforts . . . by getting the boot.Released today are linebackers Roy Manning and Anthony Schlegel. Manning appeared in five games, and Schlegel played in 13 games and starting five of them.Well 95# is available
