rwalling
Having received my first ever lifetime ban from an online forum, and feeling a bit like Pete Rose, I thought I'd ask- have you ever been banned from a forum? What did you do? Was it worth it?I'll start:-Yes-called the mod(s) a douche bag in a forum on another website. (In retrospect, Gestapo would have been more accurate than douche bag. Even Armybengal's "@ssh*les" had more flair.)- hard to tell, so far yes. It's quite liberating.
BengalszoneBilly
Don't feel bad Walls. I too was banned from Redzone, but I don't give a s**t. It was football season, and I simply stated I was amazed that so many alleged Cincinnati Reds fans seemed like pu**ies because they cared nothing for the NFL, or the Bengals. It was one and done.Eff 'em bro. Just eff 'em.
gregstephens
Never been banned yet, but thought I was coming close here this past weekend on the thread Ox eventually shut down.
Bengals1
No, I’ve never been banned but I did leave another Bengals forum voluntarily at the beginning of last season over moderator issues. That's how I came to post at this forum.I was one of the first members of this other forum and had been a regular poster there for many years. It had a core group of about 8 – 10 regular posters with another 4 or 5 members who posted only occasionally. The owner rightfully felt that he should try and bring in some new blood and decided that one of the reasons more new people didn’t post there was because the core group had become too familiar with each other and our posts might scare off potential new members with our language and inside jokes and humor which some felt might not have been understood by newbies.I agreed along with everyone else to try and moderate our posts and keep the more profane language and jocular humor to a minimum. A week or so after we all agreed to try and clean up our acts I got into a debate with several other members about the course of the season after just 2 games and in one post I used a smilie icon that spelled out the word “Loser”.One of the moderators erased my post. I assumed it was a mistake so I reposted my smilie. He took it down again and shot me a PM basically telling me to back off and quit “attacking” other members. I had received earlier criticism for what some on the site considered my “racy” sig pics and the owner had been trying politely to get me to take them down for some time. Having my posts erased without any prior warning for something as silly and inoffensive as a smilie was the straw that broke the camels back.I could see the handwriting on the wall. I wasn’t about to curb my personality to that far of a degree so I simply left. I never posted a goodbye or told anyone over there why. I figured they were probably thankful to get rid of me in any event. I’m sure the owner was. I always got the impression he felt I was more trouble than I was worth anyway. After checking out several other Bengal sites I landed at this one. So far it seems like a good fit and my silly sig pics are actually pretty mild compared to some of the photos these guys use.
ArmyBengal
I stand by my opinion that it's the difference of opinion that makes a forum run so well. While I agree that personal attacks should be limited, I feel there is a difference between a personal attack and someone vigorously stating their opinions. If everyone agreed with what everyone said, it's not a forum, it's a circlejerk. I could have sworn Steelers forums had that market cornered anyway... Have I ever said how much I love this forum ??WHODEY !!!
agreen_112
If I wasn't banned from the Bengals official .com for supporting Chris Henry after his DUI, I would've never found "the zone". I basically called Joe-From-Florence (The moderator that actually got to go through a tour of PBS, also a Florence police officer) a douchebag for calling Henry everything in the book and also saying that he should be Cut... I got the last laff because my boy is still a Bengal and I found the zone, win/win! Wouldn't post anywhere else.
DesperateDerelict
Ever been banned? From the Boy Scouts at age 16, due to a memorable raid on the neighboring Girl Scout Camp. Not in the last 40 years, though.
Scottishbengal
I was banned from mrs scottsihes (no 1) knickers for an extended period due to my insistance on shouting "who-dey, who-dey" at point of climax. The period extended from Superbowl XXIII (from last 12 seconds or so) until the present date.
