Yes, it's true. If you happen to be one of the dumb f**kers who got OSX Leopard for Xmas DO NOT INSTALL THIS PIECE OF CRAP.

Otherwise welcome to this thread:

Somewhere that "PC" guy in the commercials is laughing his ass off...

Merry freaking Christmas!

(Glad I got 2 extra computers laying around!)

All I can say is wow...what a mess! As a pure PC person with a casual relationship with Macs, I've been reading their forum thread for about 30 minutes, trying to grasp what could possibly be the difference between what few users who got this Leopard system up and rolling, and the vast majority who are pulling their hair out.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason. I think the few who did get it successfully installed just got lucky.

Well, roughly 7 f**king hours and two computers later, all I can say is that Apple really dropped the ball regarding testing popular 3rd party stuff...4 different installs 4 different ways with two forays into linux...and hey it finally worked...and even then I had to fight with it over all my passwords & stuff. I'm now at the figure out what's new point, but all I can say is the damn thing better blow me on a regular basis!

Damn you Hoosier! Just reading that stupid thread got me poking around on their links back to Apple. I found their download page and stumbled onto a Safari Browser version for PC. I thought what the hell, I'm bored. Lets give it a go. So I did.

Bottom line is it was quick and efficient! It automatically pulled in my favorites from IE into their bookmarks, and so far loads much faster than either IE or Fire Fox! I think I found new love!

I've been using this new Apple Safari Browser now for several straight hours, and I'm INCREDIBLY impressed by its speed loading pages! The difference in more than merely noticable. It's astonishing! It does have a small problem here at this website with the hyper-link script, so I'll have to link the download URL the old fashioned way:

http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

Safari is sweet. You need flip4mac if you are on a mac and want multimedia (like streaming games) tho.

I finally have my system up and going. Took about half a dozen hard restarts, 3 installs, and and hours worth of trashing 20 megs of duplicate files...and then a long argument to get it to recognize all my passwords to the internet...and my mouse still doesn't work right...but hey 5,000,000 miles later 1+1=2!

I'm going to buy a Mac this weekend. Wish me luck.

I should just run Redhat and be done with it and save money, but oh well. I need some more frustration in my life, right?

Just make sure if it's running Leopard that you get it pre-installed! Seriously, tho, shouldn't be a problem since the glitch involved a popular but 3rd-party piece of software. You'll love a mac.
