I know the Steelers and Bengals aren't exactly friendly towards one another... certainly some hate going on there. However, we in Steeler Nation need your help this weekend. Nobody would've predicted the Browns and Steelers battling for the division, never-the-less it's happening. We can't suck enough right now, so we really need you guys to play spoiler for us against the Stains. Can your squad get it done? What's the feeling in Cinci this week?

My feeling is to, for the first time in my life, root like crazy for the Bengals to drop the game to the Browns. Nothing would be more heart-warming this Christmas season than to see the Steelers go into that last week having to beat the Ravens in a do-or-die game. Funny. Way too funny. Then, after a tough, physical game, even if they pull it out, they have to jump right into another game against the Jags. Lovin' it.

Go Browns! (I can't believe I just typed that ... but we are talking about Pittsburgh no less)

LOL, I thought someone might say that. What has the world come to??? I'm rooting for the Bungles, you're rooting for the Stains... the world has gone mad I tell you. :D

The world has come to you needing to know where smack goes! I am fine with your question ... seemed genuine enough. My response is surely genuine ... and included ZERO smack. I've said it before and I will say it again ... terms like 'bungles' and 'stains' belong only in smack OR within 'their own family'. I expect a retraction or admission of guilt here. Really gets under my skin how Steeler fans (notice no smack there! ... and I am surely tempted) use derogatory terms without even thinking about it. And you wonder why you guys are so hated. Go figure.

(oh, and I expect some mod ... especially the faithful Ox ... will let you know that you have crossed that line again ... punks)

Unfortunately, neither can we. :(

I wouldn't count on crap out of Cincinnati in the last two weeks. The players have packed it in for the year and most of the coaching staff is busy updating their resumes.

It's purely friendly guy... it wasn't intended to be smack, and it wasn't smack. I apologize if that bothered you, but I think you're a little too sensitive.

I suspected it was 'friendly', but I think it is time you guys realize that there are different areas in this site. And if you don't think these terms, used in everyday 'friendly' conversation, may not be 'friendly' to everyone, then you are wrong. Too sensitive? Trust me, every time I see/hear someone use similar terms about the Steelers or Pittsburghers or whatever, the locals go completely nuts. I've lived it. I see it. But yet they feel they are allowed to look down on everyone else and speak down to them. Like you just did. Smack is one thing ... every day, common, friendly conversation is another. If you don't see the difference and error of your way, then you too have fallen into this 'elitist' group. It really doesn't surprise me having lived here so long. I hear people constantly use racist comments and then when questioned about it they simply say, 'oh, don't be too sensitive'. Uh, wrong is wrong. Maybe I am too sensitive ... but respect it. Respect that these terms are not for you to use in everyday, not jesting smack use. At least not around me. If you knew a term was offensive, would you not stop using it? If not, then that explains a lot.

(btw ... had you simply said, "I apolgize if that bothered you", then I would have ended this ... but no, in Pittsburgher fashion, you qualify the apology)

Fair enough, however, look at the last sentence in your post... that's smack too. I don't want to argue, I'm here to talk football... as I'm a guest here I'll try to be more careful with my word selection. Satisfied?

Back to football... I don't blame you for wanting to lose to the Browns. I'm sure the hatred is stonger for the Steelers than for the Browns... would you agree?

Honestly, I typed, erased, and then re-typed that last part. My emotion/frustration with this topic got the best of me, but that is not an excuse. I apologize and will keep those thoughts/comments for smack (and for my obvious inward bias as well :P ). Trust me, if you were an outsider in this land for so long, you would appreciate how completely rude people come off after awhile. The clear examples are many. No excuses intended ... just hard to not stoop to the same level some times ... your off-the-cuff comments are indicative of the bigger problem in WPA.

Anyway ... as you say ... back to football. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, I really couldn't care less about Pittsburgh. Didn't matter ... I simply hated the Browns and no one else. I was at the game when Wyche made his comment, and I loved it. But (here comes the big BUT) ... having lived here, there is nothing I love to hate more. As my family mantra goes, "It's always a good day when a Pittsburgh team loses." That's hatred. Obviously, I agree.

I'm sure you hear a lot of crap living in Pittsburgh... kind of comes with the territory I guess. Like every team we have a lot of obnoxious fans, no doubt about it. I live outside of Hershey and I hear obnoxious steelers and eagles fans all the time, so I certainly know how bad some of us/them can be. Ironically, the people that run their mouths the most are usually the people that know the least about football.

Never-the-less, I'm a Bengals fan on Sunday. :D When you play like garbage you need some help... we've been playing like garbage, and boy do we need some help.

Wow, you are surely a rare Steeler fan. I obviously had you wrong, and I apologize for that. It's hurting my strong bias even considering this might be true!!! You do realize that it would be a lot easier if you just fell into the other 99.9% of your fanbase, right? Man, if I could just find one ... ONE! ... Steeler fan with your sense around here. I've looked long and hard for almost 20 years now. I recommend you stay in Hershey. You sound like a very reasonable guy ... one that would probably be saddened to see/hear the stuff around here on a day-in day-out basis.

Back to that football stuff again ... obviously the problem with the Steelers (the primary problem, that is) is the offensive line play. It has been horrible of late, and I don't see how that gets fixed before the off-season. That, and the injuries on defense are starting to pile up. Although I know the Bengals historically have had their mental problems (duh), but I have felt similar injuries killed them from week 1 this year, but few people wanted to put blame there. The point is, you can only expect to have so much depth in today's NFL. I think your Steelers are feeling similar pain at this point. You should just hope that Roethlisberger doesn't get killed in the process over the next few games.

Yeah our O-line is a big problem, so is the play calling/game planning... our OC doesn't appear to be able to find his own arse with both hands and a flashlight. Bens been sacked 43 times, and his size and strength have saved him of about twenty more. However, I do think Pittsburgh will win their wild card game, but if we do we're going to get waxed by either New England or Indy. Sad but true. The defense is starting to break down because of all the pressure our lack of offense is putting on them... it's a vicious cycle, one that will end for us in Indy or New England, if we make it that far. We sure picked a lousy time of year to play our worst football.

Get over it duus, the Bengals have once again become the laughing stock of the NFL... They were all laughing at us Saturday night, didn't you watch... We'll be okay next year, so I will accept Bungle language for the rest of this season only. We look terrible, they need to hear it!

Never! Never!

Oh, I know we are the joke. I get it. Obviously, my argument is that certain language is best left in-house. I know I will never get my point across universally (media and the like), but I am just trying to make a point across fan bases. Anyway ... obviously a dead issue with TIMEsteelersfan in this case ... seems like a VERY RARE individual. (note my signature change) :D

That's cool. I was watching in agony Saturday as I realized the Bengals have become the laughing stock once again... It hurt.

I actually didn't mind the Steelers so much and considered the Browns more of a rivalry until that fateful hit on Carson Palmer's knee.

Now when I think of the Steelers I get the same hateful feeling in my bones that I get when I think about Joe Montana and the 49ers.

The Browns are now just our loveable rivals up North.

I just can't bring myself to cheer for anything that would benefit the Steelers.

Sorry...and good luck this weekend!!

What's the feeling in Cinci this week?

Just speaking for myself, it's GO BROWNS! I so sick of hearing about Bennie Boy and Hieney Ward I could just about puke. :puke:

I don't know what to think sometimes. I can't make myself root for my boys to lose, but if we win we help the black and yellow. Wow. Kind of like the last two people on earth are you and your sister. It's either keep the human race alive and bang her and procreate or don't and let it die.

Wait a minute, that's a pretty bad metaphor.

Nevermind.

Uh, yeah, thanks for that. For the record, the human race would simply end ... I typically carry at least 2 firearms on me, and at least one of them would be used to put me out of my misery before the thought would even enter my mind.

Good Stuff Duus... we've battled a few times in the past so hopefully we can keep it civil from now on eh? I do my best not to be a blind homer, it's tough sometimes you know, always feeling like the Steelers have the talent and potential to win it all. Unfortunately, as a Steelers fan my life is full of disappointment in January. I've seen us lose in the playoffs so many times it makes me sick... but I'm not one of these fans that walks around with an unjustifiable swagger because of the Steelers accomplishments. They are, after all, the Steelers accomplishments and not my own.

Go Cinci! Take out those Browns baby!

What's the status on Marvin Lewis? Does he stay or go? Should he stay or go? What's the feeling here? I don't see enough of your games to know.

It took Mike Brown 4 1/2 years to fire Dave f**king Shula. Believe me Marvin isn't going anywhere.

I won't go that far, but I will honor them with a commorative skid mark in my shorts. That's the best I can do for them. ^_^
