DC_Bengals_Fan
Coach should have rest of season to earn another crack at the job.Source: http://www.bengalszone.com/article.php?sid=597Come on, this is Mike Brown running the team. Marvin's got a couple of 4-12 seasons and maybe a 2-14 mixed in before Mikey thinks about making a change. He's sure not going to fire a coach. He'd have to pay 2 of them then. HairOnFire
"The Cards, Rams, Dolphins and Niners are on that schedule. So 4-4 should be a minimum finish. That, and a noticeable improvement in attitude, mental agility, and production, especially on defense, and Marvin will have earned a shot in 2008. Otherwise…" Otherwise...nothing. IMHO Marvin has already earned the right to return in 2008. What's more, I'd say he's earned the right to blow up his own roster and start fresh if he so desires. volcom69
Thats the sad part about all of this to know the Mike dont give a crap about winning. This team will always be mediocore with Marvin and this coaching staff in place and i guess i will just have to get used to it. This is just sad

COB
"It's a players' league, as we all know." Robert Weintraub lives in Atlanta, reports on sports for various media outlets, and confuses the NFL with the NBA on a regular basis. There are no excuses for this season.Although I wouldn't lose any sleep if Marvin got canned, I think he's not the problem. Like any other business, a professional football team is like a pyrimad. At the top of the Bengals pyrimad is Mike Brown. Everything stems from the top of the pyrimad and trickles all the way down to the base of the pyrimad. If Mike Brown is incompetent, then everything and everyone else will be incompetent - coaches, medical staff, players, etc. Therefore, Marvin is irrelevent - this team cannot change its stripes until Mike Brown Steps Down. HairOnFire
Those excuses expired after a terrible year last year. There are no excuses for this season. It seems we have differing opinions. I'm simply not as quick to throw Lewis under the bus as you are OR to indulge myself in goofy fantasies about Bill Cowher riding to the rescue OR pretending that you and I can force Mike Brown to suddenly bow to fan pressure that he's ignored for a lifetime. To be perfectly honest there's a limit to my patience and I can easily imagine myself joining the ranks calling for Lewis to be fired if the things he's built continue to crumble. But sadly, I can't sit here right now and define what it is that will push me beyond the tipping point. I'll simply have to see it before I know what it is.
