The PatternMaster
I would say the key to victory on offense is establishing the running game to make Donte Whitner focus on stopping the run. Buffalo's defense is banged up and undersized, sound familar, they play a cover 2 which means they will only have 7 guys in the box when they run their base defense. We have to make them pay by using our big hogs upfront to dominate the line of scrimmage. I know Brat loves to sling the ball around but I hope he can play some smashmouth football against a smaller defense. On defense the key is to limit the big plays. Lee Evans is fast and can easily make big plays if he's properly acconted for on every play. Given the amount of big plays the defense has given up you know Buffalo is going to test the secondary early and often. Stopping Lynch from having his first 100 yard game is also important, Lynch is a Maroney type of back who is tough to bring down but can still break the long one. Tackling and properly executing the scheme is a must if we want to win this game. This game is ours for the taking, we just have to take it. I hope they don't go to Buffalo thinking it's going to be a cakewalk because even though Buffalo is banged up they play hard and don't make alot of mistakes.Cincy 27Buff 21Who Dey!!! 3-5 and still alive!!!Key Matchups
COB
Loved reading the matchup breakdown. Kinda technical though. Just put the punter on waivers and have Marvin go for it on every 4th down. That should produce both a huge win for us and a resounding vindication of the game-coaching skills of various sports writers and internet message board posters. 3-5 and, yep, still alive! BengalByTheBay
I have to say that Lynch scares me and that I'm less than thrilled with the Bengals' ability in recent history to play well against a mediocre Buffalo team. The fact that we're on the road -- in a weird way -- may actually help us out a bit. I keep waiting for the breakout game from the offense and, apart from glimpses in a half vs. Jets, still haven't seen it. Now would be a good time to click boys. With no Henry, Rudi or Willie for much of this season so far, didn't think the offense would be like year's past - and of course the Bengals' did nothing other than draft Irons, to upgrade or stabilize their offense and it's depth in the offseason.
