jonahdsage Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 At one point in today's press conference big marv encouraged the press corps with "give our guys on PUP a chance to return . . . " Call me crazy, but the plural "guys" there makes me wonder who all he's referring to. Obviously Perry will be coming back -- any word on the status of pollack? I was at the game on monday and i'm pretty sure he was screwing around during warm ups about an hour before the game with someone on the bengals' staff. Doing handstands, running routes -- just having fun. I know he's still in town, just not sure what his status is with coming back this season or who else we can expect back Quote

They direly need someone to rally around, and he could very well be it. Quote
Kazkal Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Ya it's a bit strange but he could also be talking about players like Jeanty and Kilmer who are suppossed make their returns soon and Chad Mentioned 15# returning early on a appeal. At this point though I'd be happy with seeing pollack just in pads even if he never got in the game would give us 1 more LB lol Quote
combatbengal Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I think you guys are fishing. No word on the early return of # 15. Pollack will probably never play again. I like your thought process but it won't happen. Quote
walzav29 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Why is Pollack on the PUP? HE IS NOT COMING BACK THIS YEAR. It would be a miracle that he plays again. He isn't coming back this year. I don't get the logic. Quote

I don't get the logic.I suspect there are different rules for PUP vs. IR for things like being around the team and attending meetings and using team facilities, and PUPing him allowed him more access.Nope, he was PUP'd for the simple reason that he may actually return to the field THIS season. Both Marv and Pollack know that it's probably a 99.9999% chance that he will not play this year, but there is still hope. Why place him on the IR if there is hope of a return (possibly a spiritual thing, who knows). If he was placed on IR, I believe that would mean that, by rule, he would be sidelined all season... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading this before the season started. Quote
walzav29 Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Well that's dumb. You're telling me that the Bengals are going into a game with 4 lbers to hope for a miracle? Quote

You're telling me that the Bengals are going into a game with 4 lbers to hope for a miracle?I don't know what their doing, all I know is the reasoning behing placing Pollack on the PUP instead of IR... Hopefully we get some guys healthy for week 6 and we have at least 6 LB's ready. Quote
Stripes Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Well that's dumb. You're telling me that the Bengals are going into a game with 4 lbers to hope for a miracle?Well in all likelihood, they go into the game with 4 linebackers, and they leave the game with 4 linebackers. It's a risk, but it isn't absurd. Quote

It's a risk, but it isn't absurd.Well when you go into a game with 4 linebackers you usually find yourself in the 4th quarter with a defensive end and a rookie safety playing linebacker spots. From everything I've read and heard Pollack has ZERO greater risk injuring his neck again (i.e. his neck is no more susceptible to that injury now). So, if he desires to I would support him in coming back. Perhaps that's selfish just because i get excited about what he COULD bring to the team (who knows what he'll be like on the field again) but i'm also pretty scared should the guy come back -- like the docs said you don't walk away from that injury twice. I can see dhani jones stepping it up, too. I wish we didn't have to sit back and hope for changes from guys coming off of PUP, though . . . look at chiefs. Quote
