scxeezy
Despite the horrendous defense that was played, we saw one positive that was previously a concern for this team...Glen Holt stepped up as the #3 receiver.5 rec., 52 yards, 1 TD He made some great catches and held on despite several huge hits. He also seemed to be on the same page with Palmer timing wise, which is something Tab didn't seem to have. If he can stay healthy, we might have our answer until Henry gets back. Now to answer some defensive questions...
mgilgris
Agreed the Tab Perry experiment did not work out and may have hurt Tab in the special teams area which is in such desperate need. I just hope that the special teams can be shored up with E. Kilmer coming back.

He could turn out to be a Stokley type contributer for your team.
HoosierCat
As the guy who has been pimping Holt all through the offseason, I'll take this opportunity to break my arm while patting myself on the back.

That's a whole lot less vulgar than I'd have put it, which would have cautioned you against breaking your back a la Clerks. But I agree with you, Holt looked great. CantStop85
Let's not forget, he also looked impressive on kick returns as well.
Ox
As a resident Lexingtonian, I can say the dude was a stud at UK. I have a ton of confidence in the guy, and he's a hell of a warrior when it comes to injuries. The guy just battles through them.Holt Career StatisticsYear Position G-GS Rec. Yds. Avg. Ox
Holt Career Statistics... Pretty marginal average per catch. Any explanation?Well, Ky's offensive attack was pretty spread out, and was QB'd by the now famous "Hefty Lefty" Jared Lorenzen. Here's what the UK Athletics page says about each year:UK Most Outstanding Offensive Player as chosen by UK coaches (2004)Has made significant progress each year and emerged as the team’s top pass receiver last season ... One of three seniors who are providing leadership at the well-stocked wide receiver positions ... Has played in 35 games, starting 16.2004 (Junior): Started all 11 games ... Named the team’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player as chosen by UK coaches ... Led the Wildcats with 49 receptions for 415 yards and three touchdowns ... Ranked second in the SEC in receptions per game ... Top game came against Vanderbilt when he caught nine passes for a career-high 87 yards and both touchdowns of UK’s 14-13 comeback win ... Both TD catches vs. the Commodores came in the fourth quarter, including the game-winner when he outdueled a defender to make a grab in the back of the end zone ... His single-game high of 10 receptions came against South Carolina ... Caught six for 53 yards and a touchdown in the win over Indiana ... That performance earned him the game-captain role for the next game, at Florida ... Also provided a spark on the end-around play, with nine carries for 117 yards (a 9.0-yard average) during the season ... Led the team in all-purpose yardage.2003 (Sophomore): Played in all 12 games and started five times ... Totaled 14 catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns ... Had career highs in the Louisville game with three catches for 33 yards and a touchdown ... Also had a TD catch against Murray State.2002 (Freshman): Played in all 12 games as a reserve receiver and on special teams ... Caught four passes for 31 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown catch in the win over Texas-El Paso ... Also scored against UTEP on a 16-yard end-around run ... Returned three kickoffs for a 20.3-yard average.
HairOnFire
Well, Ky's offensive attack was pretty spread out, and was QB'd by the now famous "Hefty Lefty" Jared Lorenzen. Valid points I guess, but I'd still expect a better average from a wideout who seems to be a very good athlete with a little bit of wiggle. Just curious why most of his career and best games all feature an average gain around 10 yards or less.

Try finding a bright spot on the defense. I looked far and wide and came up empty handed.
kingwilly
Lets not forget the head-shot he took from Poole...straight cracked. He shook it off and came back to contribute...He stood out more in this game than Chatman, Tab or the others in reent memory...almost squirrel-like. redsbengalsbucks
I would say his Yards per catch is low because he is quick not fast, he was caught from behind during a couple of his returns, just when I thought he was gone. He reminds me of Peter Warrick tough, quick, but without great break away speed.
