Anyone think Mavin and company would be interested? The move is a surprise, as 3rd rounders typicly make the team.http://www.azcardinals.com/news/detail.php?PRKey=1878Ask me again after the Ravens game. What really caught me off guard in the article was the fact that Arizona is keeping 4 TE's on the roster! I suspect Matt Lienert will be doing a lot of throwing at them. Here's a little more detail on Davis, the former Florida State LB, who was the 69th overall pick this year.Davis (5-9, 239) was recognized as a second-team All-American as a senior in 2006 by the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp and The Sporting News. He started all 13 games at middle linebacker and led the team with a career high 109 tackles (57 solos) also adding five sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. His play helped the Seminoles finish the year ranked 12th in the nation in rush defense and 18th overall. The Daytona, FL native finished his collegiate career by starting 37 consecutive games at middle linebacker for Florida State while also leading the Seminoles in tackles each of his final three years, recording 265 stops during that span. skyline Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 My gut reaction is to say no. If a team cuts it's third round draft choice, then they probably have pretty good reasons for doing so whether the public is aware of those reasons or not. It's not a decision that any team is going to make lightly. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 The book on Buster from Cards fans is that he was a questionable pick to begin with because he really didn't fit the defensive scheme, and he looked clueless on the field all preseason. Doesn't sound like anything we need. Quote

HoosierCat Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Schefter @ NFL.com is reporting another 3rd rounder got cut -- the Raiders have apparently dumped DE Quentin Moses. He was ticketed to the bengals in some very early mock drafts in late 2006. Quote

chrishcovga Posted September 4, 2007 Report Posted September 4, 2007 On Paper, Moses and Davis look like guys you jump on, but 3rd rounders hardly get dropped like bad habits, so something has to be wrong.I know this about the players..Davis, While he's a good linebacker even though he's short, he doesn't have good athletic abiltiy to change directions. He's strictly an attacker type of player, without the real talent to dissect plays and put himself into position to play the pass, and not strong enough to take on blockers in the NFL.- Surprised he didn't make it as a Special teamer though.Moses- Should have come out after his Junior year. Living in Georgia I got to watch his play each saturday, and he wasn't even the best defensive lineman on the field his senior year. He played like He didn't want to get hurt, and wasn't a force against the pass or the run. He could still be coached up, but the Raiders drafted him into a pretty deep defensive line rotation.* He could still be worth a roster spot because of his athletic ability. - Doubt he could make the move to linebacker, but I'd still prefer giving him a shot over Frostee Rucker.
