duus
Since when did SSLB become a jinxed position on this team?At this point, not even the Kicker or the coach is immune.Well, I'm scheduled for knee surgery. The arms of this curse has no bounds. It's getting way, way out of hand. We must take its head off! (figured I'd get as many body parts in there as possible in honor of the curse of 2007 ... maybe it'll leave us alone )
HoosierCat
Hobs updated the story. The latest injury news:-- Killer Kilmer had knee surgery and will likely be placed on PUP.-- Chatman has been instructed by doctors "not to run" and will also likely start the season on PUP.Are we going to have any healthy players? Might have to forfeit some games for lack of enough guys to field a team...
alleycat
Amazing. Simply amazing. How is it that players get surgery weeks (Jeanty) or even months (Kilmer) after they injure themselves? Joseph in a boot again? Can Carson use his knee rehab as a (successful) example and make some noise in the front office and get changes made on this medical staff. It's not funny anymore. HoosierCat
In yet another update, Hobs adds that Non-Dairy Dessert Rucker 1. hurt his hammy Saturday and is out for the Indy game and 2. has been suspended under the personal conduct policy for 1 game. HairOnFire
It can all change in a heartbeat, but I think most of the news on the injury front has been pretty positive of late. Granted, the news about Jeanty sucks...no doubt about it....but the news about Levi and Willie has been pretty positive for a couple of weeks now, and even if one or both miss the opener the fears that Anderson might miss the entire season seem unfounded. As for the latest boot to the head, I'm just going to remind myself that Joseph moved very well against the Falcons. No sign of a limp at all. And now we learn that it's no longer a given that Perry will miss the first five games, and may indeed be ready to ride to the rescue like the flawed hero of Greek epics. Best, they've even left the door open a crack for Pollack. Edit: It seems I spoke to soon. In the time it took for me to write this post Hoosier offered updates that punked three players. mgilgris
Reasons for injuries 1)Training/ medical staff is def not up to par. 2)We need an indoor practice facility for both the cold and the heat3)we are Jinxed Is it me or are players knees not as durable these days. I guess with the larger/heavier players that is a given, but it seems like they are scoping knees for any dull pain.
HoosierCat
It can all change in a heartbeat, but I think most of the news on the injury front has been pretty positive of late.I think you're right that, at least at the most critical positions like tackle(s) and RB, the news has been trending in the right direction for the last couple weeks And obviously, losing a Chatman or even a promising Kilmer for a while is hardly the end of the world. It would be nice, tho, if the team could just get through one lousy week in August without multiple additions to the injury report, y'know? Jet23
There is not another franchise in professional sports that would put up with this type of shoddy work. How many times have we heard that the medical staff advised against surgery, only to learn that it was actually needed? Of course, rather than perform the surgery in the off-season, it ends up taking place during, or just prior to the season. Have you ever heard of a medical staff that was criticized more by its own athletes?Mikey will ho hum his way through this one, just like he does everything else. You wonder why it's hard to be a Bengals fan? Because unless it is paid for by Hamilton County, it's nothing but second rate. From the Scouting Department, to potential FA welcome arrangements, to the size of the damn towels in the locker room. HALF ASS!Does the fact that Palmer wouldn't let these hacks touch him with a freaking cotton swab tell us anything?
hrod382
Due to our depth at spots I think the Jeanty injury might hurt worse than Levi or Willie. At least we've got Whitworth behind them.Nice to hear Perry might be back early, hopefully when he gets injured again he has enough time to come back for the last few games. OMG that's as brutal as it is hilarious. (My compliments) I've probably been harder on Perry than anyone here, but I'll cut him a little slack this time for one simple reason. Marvin praised his work ethic and cited it as the reason for any hopes that he might return early. In the past Perry's rehab work has been openly questioned and it probably wasn't a coincidence that he's usually returned to action later than projected. It would be nice, tho, if the team could just get through one lousy week in August without multiple additions to the injury report, y'know? I may be the last poster who still gives a crap about Chatman, but I can't help thinking that if he were healthy the whole 3rd WR debate would be entirely silenced. Better still, Chatman's ability to play the slot should mean even after Henry returned Chatman should have a bigger role to play in the offense than any of the other options. Instead, the news about his hamstring never gets better, and......(voice trails off)
Kazkal
Just making sure but Perry has 2 years left in his deal right? or did he sign a 6 year contract?Well nothing major,Jeanty isn't a huge loss Jjoe will be back for opener and chatman probably wouldn't make the team if he was healthy.SUcks about kilmer but we have alot of special teamers @ the safety position. So main thing is good news that we may have Perry for the start of the season which will be needed with henry out,Hell they might even line him up as our 3rd WR. HoosierCat
That's what I thought,Well heres hoping he's back for the season opener with Levi & big willie. My prediction is that he is not PUP'd and sees his first action in week 3 versus Seattle. Maybe week 2 vs. the Clowns but there ought not to be a need to push things against Cleveland.Mr. Glass is shaping up to be one of the more interesting personnel subplots of the 2007 season. I have little doubt that he was a goner, perhaps as early as October. If nothing else, the drafting of Irons shows the Bengals were prepared to move on. In fact, I can find no better reason for his sudden acquisition of a work ethic than the prospect of being traded or released -- if not at some point this year, then in 2008. Certainly, if he'd gone on PUP, and Rudi, Irons and Watson had all been healthy when he came off the list, the Bengals weren't going to cut any of them to create a spot for a perpetually injured back. And if he was actually healthy (as it seems likely he would have been given recent reports) he would surely object to IR.So basically he had one dislocated ankle out the door already. Then Irons blew out his knee and everything changed. If Perry can get healthy and have, say, a 14-game season like he had in 2005 as a No. 2 back -- about 600 combined rushing and receiving yards, a 4.6 yard rushing average, a couple TDs -- that's going to throw a wrench (in a good way) into the whole RB spot. ShulaSteakhouse
Losing Kilmer is a big blow for the ST's no matter how you look at it. The coverage Monday night proved that out some.
