GapControl
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...&id=2986080from the article:----------The Ravens and Steelers look ready to wage a fierce battle in the AFC North. The Ravens are staggering. How can they keep finding pass-rushers to fit defensive coordinator Rex Ryan's creative schemes? LB Antwan Barnes, a fourth-round choice, was one of the most impressive defensive rookies in the preseason. LB Prescott Burgess, a sixth-round choice, also looks good. New coach Mike Tomlin has had the Steelers' defense firing at a regular-season intensity in preseason games. But the key to their season will be QB Ben Roethlisberger. He looks great in the adjusted offense. Putting him in some no-huddle and letting him call more plays at the line of scrimmage appears to be a winning formula for the Steelers. ----------Anyone worried that BigBen is going to shred our defense this year?? Could he work the field like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady have against us in the past?Thinking about that will either make you laugh out loud or lose sleep tonight. The best thing that could have happened to us was them letting him audible. In their last preseason game against the Redskins, Washington showed a LB blitz up the middle before the snap. Toothless audibled to....a run *from a one-back set* that was either supposed to go up the middle or between left G/T. I say 'supposed to', because it's hard to tell - the blitzers outnumbered the O-line, and there was no fullback, so a LB shot the gap completely unblocked and drilled the RB 3 yards deep in the backfield. So I'm thrilled about this. If Little Ben can't even freaking count linebackers and blockers, God help him.
duus
He's a native Pissburgher and frequents the local sports talk radio ... 'nuff said.BTW ... completely off-topic, but I didn't feel like it warranted a new topic ... I am trying to find the video that I saw yesterday on one of the local tv stations. Benji is talking about the Redskins game ... you know, the one that the Steelers won with 4 fieldgoals. He claimed that they (the offense) could have scored 35 points if they were permitted to call the plays they had been practicing. He said that he and Hines were lobbying for the plays but Ariens (the new offensive coordinator) said he didn't want to use them so as to not give away too much in preseason. 35 points. The arrogance that spreads through this town and team sometimes just makes me wanna laugh.

What I can't figure out is why the hell he cares that much about the preseason.

ShulaSteakhouse
I would give Baltimore and even Pissburgh the edge on the Bengals' right now - due to superior defenses and capable Qb's with some weapons to compliment that. Can't blame Clayton for that, but to say the Bengals' won't be a factor in the division (which he didn't - just didn't mention them) is also wrong.Anyone who doesn't think the Ravens are the favorites in the division right now, isn't paying attention. They will be tough - and that opener is going to be a big one.

And the 0-lines are pretty comparable right now with two banged up tackles on the downsides of their careers here, and the under-whelming interior o-line the Bengals' have right now.The thing I hate is the lack of weapons Palmer will have in the 1st half - he literally only has two guys he can count on consistently to make big plays or throw to consistently - that's just too easy to defend.Just being realistic/unobjective here. We've already seen how the offense is struggling in preseason. It's my worst fear as a result of the way they sat on their laurels this off-season. Instead of adding a few pieces to make them whole - they literally did nothing except draft one guy on offense and he's out for the year. Thank God Rudi is as good and durable as he is, and that Carson is a top 3 QB. Lose one of those two and they're absolutely screwed. The Ravens are one team that can lose their starting QB or RB and still make the playoffs. Not so with the Bengals.
BengalszoneBilly
The Ravens are one team that can lose their starting QB or RB and still make the playoffs. Not so with the Bengals. That's because they have a kick ass defense, and that can cover for a whole lot of short comings on the other side of the ball. Hell, I remember when Kyle Boller was starting for them and Baltimores offense was not scoring squat for points, and their defense said "What the hell!" and did that for them too! They scored enough on defense to win some games all on their own! I envy teams with GOOD "D"! Here in Cincy they can't even spell it. Even if you spotted them the G-O-O-D. HairOnFire
(Clayton the Football Elf concept by HairOnFire. All rights violated.) No problem, as I believe in sharing & theft....as proven by the shameful manner that I lifted "Hype Henderson" without bothering to ask. (My compliments.) Plus, I believe all of Bengala now refers to Matt Toeaina as "Big Toe" and I think I may have been the first to pen that. Sadly, my rather obvious joke prompted another poster to respond with an unfortunate picture that I can't seem to purge from memory. (It burns!) And the spelling challenged posters at GoBengals have cleverly tagged Chin%$#@*& Ndukwe as....Duke Nukem. I'm stealing that one.
