agreen_112
For 6k, No way! I could build something better with a bus or something for that price. That's rediculous!
HairOnFire
Those of us who prefer more horsepower know how easily a few orange stripes could be painted on this ebay offering. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Open-Wheel-...1QQcmdZViewItem
ShulaSteakhouse
That's still a sweet little bug. Used to be our family car for a few years in the early 70's (sadly enough) - looking at that interior brings back the memories. Most of you kids are too young to appreciate that thing. And you'd also be suprised how well those things move.

ShulaSteakhouse
Billy and HC - should've figured. Porn addict and a former beatnik hippy.I can only imagine the look on my better half's face if I drove home with that thing one day (the stripes in particular). I'd be sleeping in it. It does if you have a Grateful Dead CD in the 8-track player! It didn't even have a working radio (I just had a cheap boombox between the front seats). The emergency/parking brake was a chunk of wood on a chain that I kept behind the driver's seat. No heater boxes so no heat in the winter, which of course made the whole exhaust sytem redundant (it made more noise than your average Harley). There was probably more Bondo and rust than metal in the body. And the last owner had installed a heavy-duty racing clutch in the thing so you almost had to stand up on the clutch to slam it down and shift gears. But it only cost me $500, lasted the better part of six years, made multiple trips between Ohio U (where a dropout buddy of mine actually lived in it for several months) and Cincy. Maintainence was a breeze and you could jury-rig repairs if necessary (I once ran it for 2 weeks with a cigarette filter in place of the air filter screw on the carborater). And after I graduated to a used Ford Escort, I sold it for $200. So not a bad deal at all. I cant honestly say I miss the hunk of junk but she was a warrior while I had her!
