Section 310
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htmAnyone know about this?
HoosierCat
Ooooo...auto theft! That could be some major Turdwatch points, maybe enough to get back to out rightful place atop the crap pile! Seriously, while it sounds believeable, it also sounds pretty weak. All the rental company would have to do is call Bengals PR and mention the word "police" and I am sure the organization would be happy to help locate the person in question. Heck, Mikey could just buy the damn car and then take it out of their paycheck!
derekshank
Wouldn't surprise me if it's Chad. He needs a secretary or something.
cincy9275
i think if it was chad or another high profile player it would have been a bigger story and probably name names. beside if it was chad or another star they have the money to pay it so i don't think much would come of it. i thinking it some training camp invite or a bottom of the bench player. probably just a miss understanding. that's what i hate about ptf and the other sports news places. instead of trying to find the good stories like mediu or what other players are doing that are positive. they just look for trash that's just shows what kinda people they are. instead the good one's get a small article in back of the local sports section or a day on the official website
HairOnFire
So a player not named may be charged in the near future with a crime that hasn't been committed yet?
CJBestInAFC
Sounds like BS, but hey if you like that site (PFT) then you probably believe in a lot of rumors. It's not like it is going to turn into an arrest. $3000 is not that much of a fine and the player in question would pay the fine asap I hope. This is just anothe way for PFT to run down the Bengals. I am not buying much into this story.
duus
Fact A ... You should never trust a Steeler fan.Fact B ... duus
Would it surprise you at all if someone like Henry had rented a car and forgot to return it or lent it to someone with the understanding they would return it?Nope. Wouldn't surprise me at all. Until the rental company reports it as stolen, it's nothing more than a late fee / extended rental. Just stupid. I'm the first to get on these idiots for doing dangerous, stupid, immature things ... but a wealthy guy renting a car and failing to return it on time and accumulating X thousands of dollars in fees ... well, that is a big old 'who really cares'. ThortonMelon
Failing to return a rental car in time is not auto theft and is not a crime no matter how late the car is. It is merely a breech of contract.
palmmyjohnson
Failing to return a rental car in time is not auto theft and is not a crime no matter how late the car is. It is merely a breech of contract.I'm pretty sure keeping a car beyond the terms of a contract, whether by fraud or force, is sufficient evidence of an intent to keep the vehicle against the legitimate claim of the owner. That is black letter theft, although a mistake of law defense based on your reasoning may (although I doubt it) be valid in such a situation. Dadraftnick
My guess is that player in question is Chad, I saw a interview that had him driving around in a rental car.Duss is right the guys that run PFT are big Steelers fans ,even though they deney it.They also put in the story that another Bengal is about to be arrested, which is not really fair when no Bengals have been arrested this year.In the meantime, it seems like every other team has had at least one guy arrested. The truth of the story is, people rent cars for long periods of time all of the time.My mother just rented one for a couple of months. What ? a Bengals player is going to steal a rental car? give me a break! Where is going to hide? They are not going to be able to find him?He has ran a bunch of stories about Chad not paying bills, some how you never hear anything about the story again. He just uses his site to rag on the Bengals because he hates them for beating his steelers. The most a rental car company would do is make them bring in the car or make a payment, otherwise they would have one major lawsuit. I believe their reports more than a believe anyone else's opinions here - because they are just that - and not based on anything, because you guys don't know anyone. You read Jeff Hobson and Mark Curnutte and Faux Sports News, then make up opinions ("oh no, our little Bingals could never do that!! Bennie Brazell is the next Jerry Rice!! You read Jeff Hobson and Mark Curnutte and Faux Sports News, then make up opinions ("oh no, our little Bingals could never do that!! Bennie Brazell is the next Jerry Rice!! Blah blah blah) I actually have no issue with a site that does not argue to be 'reporting' or 'factual', and instead is a bit of a 'dirt-finding site'. That's what they claim to be and I have no issue with that part of it. It is what it is. I, like most everyone else, love reading about 'rumors'. BUT ... the problem I have here is that this particular site has folks suspecting their bias for a particular team ... which, in turn, likely implies they are biased AGAINST particular other teams. They are the internet website manifestation of what a Urine fan is all about. Ever hear much negative 'dirt' on that site about the Steelers? You don't think there are Urine players getting pulled over and the cops looking the other way? You don't think there is something comparable to failing to return a rental car on time? If they are really about digging up dirt ... well, there is plenty to be found here in the Pissburgh area. Folks who live here know it. Folks privately talk about it. But somehow that 'dirt' never makes it on that site. I have listed this 'dirt' many times over. The examples are numerous. Are they facts? Your guess is as good as mine. No idea. But it is DIRT. And that is what they claim to dig up, and that is what they 'report' on ... for almost every team EXCEPT the Urine.
Section 310
Actually, they were the first to report the story regarding the LB indicted for "pimping" in Vegas. They are Steelers homers, but they have also been critical of Rottenburger, Faneca and others.
duus
Actually, they were the first to report the story regarding the LB indicted for "pimping" in Vegas. They are Steelers homers, but they have also been critical of Rottenburger, Faneca and others. Two things - (1) They 'reported' the pimping story, but that followed the fact that the Steelers had released him. I contend they would not have 'broke the story' had the Steelers not already released him. This particular scenario made the Steelers look good at best, and neutral at worst.(2) Being 'critical' of particular players is nothing different than their fanbase. The point is that I want to see consistency in digging up 'dirt'. Being critical of the play, contract disputes, etc of players is not digging up 'dirt', and in fact actually simply shows they are part of that particular fanbase. HairOnFire
Carson Palmer torn rotator cuff against Denver.TJ wanting a new contract, or wanting traded (I can`t remember which one),because he hired a new agent. Chad taking a swing and Hue and Marvin. That`s just off the top of my head . . . That's a good start, but lets face it....few of us bother remembering the crap PFT has spewed regarding players from other teams. I'm sure if you added it all up it would be a pretty impressive pile of completely worthless crap. For example, we're now talking about a player who isn't named who might be charged with a crime sometime in the future, but only if he doesn't bother making something as simple as a phone call. Yet despite the complete lack of substance we're still being treated to a headline about "Another Bengal Player Arrested?" It's crap. Embrace it at your own risk. Since his license is suspended he is unable to drive it back to the rental agency. Shoulda used Enterprise......they'll pick you up...........but apparently won't come back to get it.
