skyline
I gave them a B+. I'm the tiniest bit iffy on Irons simply due to his injury problems last year. That aside, though, he looks like an absolute beast.

Hall = AIrons = CBrooks = ADay 1 = B+The Slowman = still an F :-)Anyone else annoyed by the slowman thing....Why dont you like the Irons pick TJ, 40 time wasnt good enough? I dont like the Irons pick because of the injury concerns but I know he can be a great player.
Kazkal
B+Based on players Leon Hall Overall best defensive player on the board with reggie nelson right behind him,Either one would have been fine.Kenny Irons-Though we all wanted defense I'm fine with kenny...Ya Rudi has had good health but he's a RB who takes 350+ carries a year it's best to be safe.Hopfully Kenny can share the load ala bears, cowboys, falcons and some of the good running teams do. "Game speed," refers to a lot of technique issues which can be corrected, but some of it comes down to a players ability to react, which a player needs to develop on his own. Sometimes quickness to react can be coached, but it all comes down to if the player can "get it." If Hall can "get it," he should turn out to be a fine pro.I can't believe no one has mentioned that now Chad has a DB named Hall he can battle with in practice now each week! Bobcat Bengal
BLeon Hall fell into their lap when most expected he would be gone in the top 15...but what they gained with Hall in the first, they gave back in the second by passing on players that filled immediate needs with a guy that they could have easily gotten someone of a little less talent in later rounds. i.e. Darius Walker in the 4th round.a solid A!!! we were 26th in the nfl rushing last year. everyone thinks we are great rushing team. we are NOT!! irons will help. How high do you expect the Bengals to be with Chad, TJ, Henry, and Palmer? And add all the O-line injuries and Chris Perry injuries to that.(shaking head, grimacing)THERE YOU GO WITH THAT NEED CRAP. STOP TRYING TO REACH FOR PLAYERS.Get it through your heads, fellas. This team isn't gonna do that, at least under Coach Lewis' watch.I mean, really.....Each team is on average, allocated about 7 picks right?Do you really expect to fill all your needs when there are 11 players on each side of the ball?WE got a great, heady, physical CB who has practiced against Braylon Edwards regularly, and has faced Santonio Holmes also.We also get another Auburn RB, and there's nothing wrong with grabbing an Auburn guy.I don't know much about Kenny Irons, but he runs hard and he's a gamer.Welcome aboard. ArmyBengal
I would have to say a SOLID B with the first two picks and if you include Brooks in the scenario an easy A...WHODEY !!!
BengalPappaw
Hall = best corner in draftIrons = 4.5 elusive runnerBrooks = 1st/2nd best LB in draftA+ A -- I agree.
SkinneymulleT
Does Brooks count? How does he compare to other 3rd round material that may have been available? I dont recall seeing anyone of his caliber left in the 3rd. He would be an A+ in the 3rd I think. With him the Bengals get a B+. Without him, Bengals get a C+. Leon Hall-how do you go from 4.3 speed to getting burned deep by big play recievers? I hope that was all technique or he was expecting safety help over the top or something...but still 4.3 with loads of potential and Ive read he is a good tackler or best tackling corner, immediate impact at nickel..good pick A-. Irons, good speed 4.45-40, can take the corner, read that he has room to grow at 205, but not known for his recieving skills and was injured often with a treage list similar to cperry. I hope ML saw some ability to catch in Irons pre draft workouts. He will have imediate impact IMO, something you cannot always expect out of a 2nd, or will he end up kenny watson's backup (not a pressing need as say safety now that KK has departed) ? B-. And without a 3rd rounder, which we could have picked up by trading back in 2nd and still gotten Irons or Booker, I give it a C +.
TJJackson
I personally count Brooks when grading this year's draft, as he was in effect our third round picksee: http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?sh...c=14943&hl=In conversations on this board months before the draft, i recall several folks diagreed, and they include Brooks in their grade of the 2006 draft
Walrus
E for Effort. Obviously they were prepared to snap Hall up when he dropped to them so kudos for preparedness, although I personally wasn't 100% thrilled with the pick. I wanted Griffin or Reggie Nelson (but I'm happy now about White in the 4th). That pick gets an A. Kenny Irons, though. E for effort. Kudos for sticking to the BPA motto -- looks like they did so here. I know they felt like their hands were tied, but clearly they wanted to go D here if the guys they liked were available. Those guys were not available and they did not try hard enough to wheel and deal a trade. Irons' questionable hands mean he's not our 3rd down back and the injury flag seems like the closest comparison to Chris Perry. He turns the corner well, but unfortunately we just released our best pulling guard. That said, he's a completely different kind of back that will one day be our bellcow if he's durable enough. But he just does not address the immediate need at RB.Oh yeah -- Brooks. Great talent at a great value for the 3rd round. I'll give him a B. If he can get his act together on the field and keep out of trouble he could be the most important player to come out of this draft. Also, hopefully we settle on a position for the guy before too long. Same goes for the rest of our LB corp.

I guess an argument can be made both ways, and it has, but for me having Brooks on the roster last year dictates that he be added to that class. BengalszoneBilly
Solid B, if we include Brooks in the tally.I am thinking Lewis has to think he has 2 years, max, to produce a ring.Or at least an AFC Championship. One of the two, but of couse I like kingwilly's ring option the best.
