duus Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 I went with B, but strongly considered A. B only because I would rather have had two defensive guys. But I really believe they simply could not go defense with the second pick because of how things fell. I actually think I would go B+/A- ... B is the absolute worst you can honestly consider these two picks. Quote
membengal Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 A.Big time players from big time programs filling big time needs. Job well done. Quote
jjakq27 Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 The Irons pick surprised me but I can't say it is a bad pick so I will say a B+. Quote
maanster Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 a solid A!!! we were 26th in the nfl rushing last year. everyone thinks we are great rushing team. we are NOT!! irons will help. Quote
Spor_tees Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 BLeon Hall fell into their lap when most expected he would be gone in the top 15...but what they gained with Hall in the first, they gave back in the second by passing on players that filled immediate needs with a guy that they could have easily gotten someone of a little less talent in later rounds. i.e. Darius Walker in the 4th round.a solid A!!! we were 26th in the nfl rushing last year. everyone thinks we are great rushing team. we are NOT!! irons will help. How high do you expect the Bengals to be with Chad, TJ, Henry, and Palmer? And add all the O-line injuries and Chris Perry injuries to that. Quote
Tasher Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Hall = best corner in draftIrons = 4.5 elusive runnerBrooks = 1st/2nd best LB in draftA+ Quote
maanster Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 spor teesyou think 26th in the nfl is exceptable. they averaged only 3.7 yd a carry. none of the bottom 7 rushing teams made the playoffs. only 1 of the bottom 12 made it (ravens). Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 29, 2007 Author Report Posted April 29, 2007 Hall = best corner in draftIrons = 4.5 elusive runnerBrooks = 1st/2nd best LB in draftA+ Ya see, that's the difference between you crazy Blind Homers and us Moes.We give the first day a reasonable solid A...and you guys go with the lunatic A+.Homers. They never learn. Quote
Pinkygen Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 B+. Excellent first pick. Be it skill or luck, I'm pleased Hall fell to us. Second pick, probably the best they could find the spot, which is why I'm not punishing them more. But we have more needs on defense, and we could have tried to trade down. I don't know if the RB back situation was so bad we needed a 2nd round pick on it. (But I could be wrong in a few months time). Quote
hrod382 Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 I'm happy with Hall.Unsure about Irons.Thrilled with Ahmad. Quote

I guess that was Rudi's fault too? So let's look at a scenario. If the same thing that happened last year, happens this year, injuries and all, except that Irons is on the team, you think he makes the Bengals that much better of a team? The onlky way that happens is if he added about 100 lbs and grew a foot. Injuries to the O-line killed the rushing game last year...not Rudi. So now try a new age argument cause this argument is about as stale as Subway bread at closing time. Quote
HairOnFire Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Strange happenings around here today. Joe Pong actually made sense in a post, and then managed to do it again a short time later. And check out your windows for flying pigs because our beloved Hoosier gave the Bengals a higher draft grade than I did. I gave 'em a solid B. Quote
maanster Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 sporswhen did i bash rudi? rudi is great smash mouth type back. we need a change of pace back. how much better would we have been with a healthy chris perry last year. our longest run was 22 yds. Quote

Rudi had great years the previous two seasons even without Perry or any other great change of pace back on a consistent basis. Quote

Spor_tees Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Funny thing is...the St. Louis Rams having drafted players that would have been a good fit for the Bengals and filled the same holes...Carriker in the first, Brian Leonard in the Second, and Jonathan Wade in the third. Weird how things happen. I think the only team I have seen that I really think have done horrible day one, Dallas Cowboys, with Green Bay a close second... Quote
kingwilly Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 Solid B, if we include Brooks in the tally.I am thinking Lewis has to think he has 2 years, max, to produce a ring. Quote
Stripes Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 B+The Bengals stuck to their BPA guns and ended up with two supremely talented players. I'm just a little iffy on Irons with needs in mind, but I approve of the pick considering depth and offensive balance. Quote
djaxFTW Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 The Bengals were a missed field goal OR a missed extra point from the play-offs. I guess that was Rudi's fault too?well the fumble at denver didnt help Quote
derekshank Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 i went with E for wait and seE.Hey! That's a cop-out. We have to say that in reality every year. We're talking about general feelings. Go out on a limb!If as kingwilly points out you include Brooks as the 3rd rounder, then I'd go 'A' But without a true 3rd round pick, the Irons pick has me scratching my head a bit. I never really get to mad about picks that I don't understand... because I do have faith that the coaching staff has a plan - but without knowing exactly what they're thinking, it's hard for me to evaluate it.I give an 'A' for Hall, an 'A' for Brooks (if he counts)... and I like Irons as a RB, so had it been a need, I'd probably throw as 'B+' in his direction... but I just don't know what to say about it. That's as honest as I can be... and when that is the situation, a nice 'B' is always the safe response. - How's that for going out on a limb? Quote
Spor_tees Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 The Bengals were a missed field goal OR a missed extra point from the play-offs. I guess that was Rudi's fault too?well the fumble at denver didnt help Rudi is one of the most sure handed RB in the NFL. 2 lost fumbles out of 364 touches last year, and 6 lost fumbles out of a total 1359 CAREER touches. That is an insanely huge ratio! Quote
WhoDeyForever Posted April 29, 2007 Report Posted April 29, 2007 I give it a B. Not so high on the Hall pick but I hope it works out well. He will need some work. Will probably be a great nickel corner this year.Kenny Irons will be a beast. I love this pick. Should take over Perrys role..Let's just hope he doesent have the bad luck that Perry has.Ahmad Brooks will be incredible. He is just nasty. Quote
