Bobcat Bengal
Not suprising, but still.....Goodell handing out suspensions like they're candy.
NJ29
I'm rooting for Tab. Hope he does well and we can dump Henry. Same goes for Brazell.
jjakq27
I think that Henry also has to submit a 300 word essay detailing what he did during his time off.
DesperateDerelict
To me, 8 games seems a little steep for the minor infractions - Henry is being punished for quantity, not 'quality'. If Goodell stays consistent and slams the gun-toting, violent offenders, I'm fine with this. However, if he looks only at number of occurences and not at type of infraction, this is going to be a mess.Players will be more liable to try to 'hush up' problems, they'll be more susceptible to nuisance suits, and cities with more lax / color blind law enforcement will become much more attractive. coupdayta
I think Henry could have been a superstar in this league. He had the physical talent. It is questionable whether he'll return from this suspension at all. Hell, he could get in trouble again. That said, I agree with the previous posts. I've always been a fan of Tab Perry (remember when he dragged Ike Taylor for like 28 yards?) and hope he can come back from his hip injury. I'd love for Tab to do well. I had real hope for Henry but I've given up.

Kirkendall
Dumb. This is all for show, nothing else. Roger Goodell is an ass-clown. Take note of that, Ray Fill-a-poo-hole.
mjm47
What sort of appeal from the NFLPA do you think we can expect?

To Goodell's credit, he does a great job of masking his ineptitude behind the talking heads in the media.

Tell me, if you commited that many crimes would you still be working right now? Henry deserved this, I hope he isnt getting paid at all either. Playing in the NFL is a privlige, Henry needs to grow up.
HoosierCat
Dumb. This is all for show, nothing else.Whole NFL's all for show and nothing else. Live by the media, die by the media. That's showbiz, baby.

It's a cheap and easy way to rip on players for what they are enabled to do through society, the legal system and the league.

mjm47
"Playing in the NFL is a privilege..."This has to be the least convinving/reasonable argument out there for disciplining players. This is a sop to the media, it's window dressing. Why is playing in the NFL a privilege any more than being a lawyer, a teacher or the former governor of TX?All of these people get DUI's, nobody seems to care.By any metric, this is an unfair punishment. That's showbiz, baby. You're right -- but I'm not talking entertainment show. I'm talking, "let's get the media off our ass show". But that's no justification for this pony-show we're seeing out of the NFL commissioner office. I don't know. I just don't believe this will change anything. If these guys thought about consequences BEFORE acting, then public opinion and the existing rules would deter them. Further more, what about the other Joey Porter and Tank Johnson's of the league? This is a quick easy solution, for non-entertainment show. jjakq27
I think the NFL is trying very hard to maintain their popularity and to stay away from the image that hurt the NBA over the last 10 years.

bwillycuse
sux - 11 games total for stupid actions - no one was hurt - no one was beat. oh well - He is an idiot. As to the Tab Perry stepping up, well Tab is no Henry(not even sure he is a WR , neither is Benny). Well see if they can step up. I think we will be drafting a wr in the first 4.At least a bit of closure. No more speculation. Now on to Odell.
GregCook
This game makes its money from advertisers and TV broadcast rights. Fans are a very small part of the pie.Henry and Jones were seen as threats to ever increasing fees from TV and advertisers. Thugs don't sell in the NFL.So does Goodell take a gamble on these two men and let them play and risk his cash cow or does he get rid of the problem?Easy call in my mind. Now do the Bengals look at Henry as a lost cause and draft a WR on day 1? One more infraction and he's banned from the league. Probably just like Odell. Wow, consider thisPollack,Odell,Henry,PerryAll may not play in 2007, maybe two will. None has lived even in the same state as their high draft status. What a waste for the Bengals.
