BZBot
The 2007 NFL Draft is bearing down now for real. There's still time for teams to change their draft needs with player trades and free agent pickups but most of those needs are set and they've targeted the prospects they want. For the Cincinnati Bengals, that could mean stripes are waiting for the likes of Darrelle Revis, Justin Durant, Jay Alford, Kevin Payne and Legedu Naanee.Source: http://www.bengalszone.com/article.php?sid=
Who Dey Time
This is well done! Personally, though, I would take Houston over Revis if he's available.
DesperateDerelict
This is well done!I agree - picking 6 rounds in a mock is WAY too much work, so thanks for the entertainment. Everybody seems to be leaning towards DBs and LBs (with an occasional DL) in the 1st 2 rounds - too bad we don't need a WR or QB, 'cause that appears tp be the two positions with excellent depth. My draft prayer this Easter Sunday: God, please give Marvin, Mikey, and the boys (sorry, Katie) acute insight, patience, and alot of luck. Please let those we admire fall to us, and allow other desperate owners to offer us favorable deals. Grant us the men which will lead us to better performance with more grace and dignity. Thank-you for your already bountiful blessings. Amen.
ShulaSteakhouse
I would draft Kalil and have an answer at C for the next 4-5 years at least.
Kazkal
Perfect bengals though I'd perfer NT over UT but I am glad other people jumping on the payne bandwagon
HoosierCat
If Beekman is there in he 4th as he is here I think that becomes real hard to pass up, especially with teams apparently nosing around Stacy and prodably filling his head with visions of a big score next year. Other than that tho, nice draft.
schweinhart
A decent nose will be hard to find out of this draft unless the Bengals are willing to roll with a red flagged player like Marcus Thomas, who can do it all. Otherwise they'd have to settle for a much lesser player like Brandon Mebane in the 2nd or hope that Paul Soliai falls in the 4th. Even then Soliai got suspended for Utah's bowl game so he's got some kind of issue too that the Bengals might back off of. A big fast DT like Soliai's teammate Kelly Talavou would look good in the 6th or 7th but Alford has the frame to become much bigger than he played at Penn St.The Bengals had free agent Colin Branch in for a visit and if they sign him, I'd say safety gets scratched off the Bengals draft board completely. There's a ton of solid safeties with interchangeable ability at either position in the draft and there'll will be a few good ones like Kedrick Alexander and Gerald Alexander who could get picked up as rook free agents if other similar types get picked ahead of them. Other than that tho, nice draft.I can't see the Bengals looking to add another center with Bluto, Wilkerson and Stepanovich on the roster. And that looks like Beekman's best shot in the NFL. He's kind of undersized for RG and not athletic enough for left IMO. I'd like Leroy Harris better than Beekman if the Bengals did go the route of a G/C. Harris looks a lot like Larry Moore. If the Bengals do go O-line somewhere, I'd be surprised if it's not tackle. Whether Stacy the Giant remains a Bengal or not in '07, he's unlikely to remain one once he hits free agency after the season. If they can get a 2nd out of him, do it and get either Beekman's teammate Jamie Marten or Doug Free. But I liked Adam Kieft coming out when the Bengals drafted hi inthe 5th, even as a a NFL left tackle. If he's healthy, he should be good enough on the right side. It's hard to come back from a patellar tear though.
NJ29
The desire to draft more receivers just blows my mind, regardless of the Henry situation. I just don't understand.

Get with it Rover.Well, Chad's 29 and TJ -- who finished last season with 4 cracked vertebrae -- is 30. They arent gonna last forever. Tab may or may not have lost anything from that nasty injury, we dont know. Even if he is, he isn't supposed to be playing WR as much as the pass-catching TE role vacated by Schobel. Henry is gone for 8 games and more if he fouls up again. Brazell is untested, Holt barely so. Chatman is a stopgap. Skyler Green? Who's that? No, drafting a WR isn't crazy at all. schweinhart
Hopefully there's not an overaction to the plight of Dopey Henry and the Bengals take a WR before Day 2. There's going to be several good ones available in Day 2 and the stockpile of backup WRs on the Bengals roster sure looks like it leaves a lot to be desired.Footballexpert.com interviewed Naanee a couple days ago. I like where it sounds like his mind is at.http://www.thefootballexpert.com/legedunaanee070002.htmlNaanee also asked to play special teams at Boise State to improve his chance to get to the NFL and enrolled there as a QB, switching to WR after Zabransky established himself as their QB. He's less of a project than either McNeal or Brazell and with his combination of size and speed, he should be a better target than either Tab, Chatman or Holt in short order. He'd have a good shot at being the Bengals 3rd WR from the start if they draft him.
