McGAHEE TO RAVENS TONIGHT OR TOMORROW?

A league source tells us that there's a good chance that the Buffalo Bill will trade running back Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday night or Thursday.

Per the source, there are a couple of other teams still in the hunt for McGahee. As of now, however, the Ravens are at the front of the pack.

Also, a reader tells us that there are reports on Sirius NFL Radio that such a trade would entail Baltimore sending a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick to Buffalo.

If the trade happens, Ravens likely will be signing McGahee to a long-term deal. Based on recent contracts, McGahee could get $20 million in guaranteed money. (Ray Lewis will be thrilled with that.)

Meanwhile, the Bills are looking for McGahee's eventual replacement. Chris Brown visited Buffalo on Wednesday, and Corey Dillon is up next.

Done Deal

McGahee traded to Ravens for multiple picksESPN.com

The Ravens and Bills agreed to a trade Thursday that will send running back Willis McGahee to Baltimore in exchange for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, along with the Ravens' third-round pick in 2008, league sources told ESPN.com.

Buffalo dealt McGahee in anticipation of difficulty with his contract, which has one season remaining at $2.155 million. The Ravens and McGahee have already begun negotiations on a contract extension, McGahee's agent Drew Rosenhaus said.

It's the second year in a row the Ravens pulled off a trade for a marquee veteran. Last year they dealt for Tennesnee Titans quarteback Steve McNair, who led the Ravens to the AFC North title.

Buffalo, whose remaining running backs are Daimon Shelton and Shaud Williams, is now in the market for multiple running backs. They have shown interest in the Colts' Dominic Rhodes and the Titans' Chris Brown , and both have visited the team. Former Patriots running back Corey Dillon has not visited Orchard Park, but the Bills are said to be interested.

Buffalo's first-round pick out of Miami in 2003, McGahee is coming off a down season in which he finished with a career-low 990 yards rushing, but led the team with six touchdowns rushing in 14 starts.

In 2005, he had 1,247 yards rushing and five touchdowns in 15 starts. He established himself as the Bills starter in 2004 with 1,128 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in 11 starts. That performance led the team to trade former starter Travis Henry to Tennessee the following summer.

The Bills have been disappointed in McGahee for conducting most of his offseason workouts in his native Miami, rather than traveling to the team's Orchard Park headquarters. McGahee also created a stir when he was quoted in a magazine article suggesting the NFL consider moving the Bills to Toronto, a comment he later said was taken out of context.

Good luck re-signing him when his rookie contract is up NEXT season.

I hope he holds out....and gets paid, then his knee busts.

The guy is a TO style cancer, late to meetings, not knowing his playbook, teamates having to explain plays in the huddle.

Good luck with this one, I hope it blows up in your face baltiwhore.

Even though the stats don't say it I still think McGahee is an improvement over Jamal Lewis and apparently so do the Ravens. You will see at the end of the year that his stats will be better then Jamal. Cleveland should go ahead and still draft Adrian Peterson that would be a dynamic duo with those two guys coming at you, that's better served then featuring Jamal.

I think he CAN, be an improvement, but

2004 Buffalo Bills 16 11 284 1128 4.0 41 13

2005 Buffalo Bills 16 15 325 1247 3.8 27 5

2006 Buffalo Bills 14 14 259 990 3.8 57 6

The guy has only ONCE had 4 yards per, it took him 325 carries to get 1200 yards. he has only had doulbe digit TD's once in his career, and that was a team showcasing him so that they could say they made the right selection.

Basically this guy is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. On the other hand the guy they made an outcast, Travis Henry is probably a better player
