fattyjay
Now that we have about 0 starting LB's, is it possible to take 2 in the first 2 rounds like we did with Thurman and Pollack?
HoosierCat
Wouldn't surprise me a bit. Marvin loves him some linebackers, after all. And we're a little short...
fattyjay
I would think though that Marv would like to address the corner situation as well before day 2 of the draft. So with all of this happening I would think the more likely scenario would be LB Rd. 1, CB Rd. 2, and FA (second-tier of course) LB or safety to add some depth. Thurmanation
Round 1: Reggie Nelson if he's on the board, if not, LB or DTRound 2: if we take reggie, then a LB/DT, if not a CBRound 3: We sit our asses down and watch as everyone else picksRound 4: Depth.. bengalsfansince68
I think that we need playmakers on D regardless of position and we have more players with potential at LB than at CB or DT.
hrod382
Ahmad Brooks is going to start and can be a playmaker... Jeanty/Landon are adequate, we just need to replace one of them.In an ideal situation...1. Darrelle Revis CB Pitt2. Rufus Alexander OLB OklahomaNo way we go LB two rounds in a row. James_Brooks21
I think that we need playmakers on D regardless of position and we have more players with potential at LB than at CB or DT.I guess we are looking to take Willis now if he's there for us. Please do not take Paul Paz whatever out of Penn State, he's a good character guy according to the media but can't cover runningbacks out of the backfiel and can't cover tightends. I don't care what his 40 time was he does not play that fast, watched him in a few games especially that Tennessee game the runningback made him look like he was in slow motion. HoTbOy
I think a LB in rd. 1 and a CB in rd. 2...
hrod382
I don't think we need to worry about Poz, Marvin loves the athletic LB's like Timmons/Willis/Beason.Then in the 2nd Rufus Alexander or Justin Durant.Either way I think LB might be all but a lock for day one unless a saftey falls or maybe Justin Harrell (DT).Seriously though, you all will be more than happy that Ahmad is a starting LB for us next year.... GregCook
Depth is the problem the Bengals must solve by draft day. No depth on defense outside defensive ends. Somehow they need to find another Peko, another Pollock and JJ on draft day. FA is nice if you win that lottery but nothing is certain. May not land anyone. They will continue freeing up cap room by letting BRob go, maybe Thorton too, heck maybe Sam Adams as well. This will be interesting. I know we need another cornerback from somewhere free agency or something, Keiwan is too slow to play corner in the NFL.
NJ29
I think that we need playmakers on D regardless of position and we have more players with potential at LB than at CB or DT.It floors me that we've ignored the truth of that statement in Cincinnati for so long. I think we'll see a linebacker, whether Timmons, Willis, Poz, Davis, or maybe some kind of convert from end going in the first, or maybe another high caliber LB in the second and a plmaking DB in the first, maybe even an end.Free agency is getting me all giddy, yet it will probably be as uneventful as always, save overpaying an aging veteran. I'm still holding out hope that we'll make a run at London Fletcher, but I think Thomas is out of our range.
SkinneymulleT
We do not need to draft another pollack. The guy was lost in space and was only a situational pass rusher. The reason he got hurt is because is not a linebacker, he was not natural in space, and thus put his head down, absorbed the blow rather than bringing it and rolling his hips through to deliver a blow. He was not a true athelete like odell and he was a wasted pick! Marvin tried to fit the square peg in the round hole.
hrod382
I agree I don't want to take another project guy of sorts in the 1st (ie Jarvis Moss). We need someone to make plays regardless of position... I wouldn't be against Nelson but I don't think he'll be the pick.I'm expecting Houston/Revis as the CB's or Timmons/Beason/Willis.

He had a good game in the Kansas City game (37-3), 5 tackeles and two sacks but that game was a blow out, saw him also wiff on a couple of tackles of Larry Johnson also. Pulled the info up and he got those two sacks when we were down by more then 15 points. I don't count when our team gets blown out as good games. He seemed like he was getting better at the end of 2005 but was not our best linebacker during the last month, Odell had 34 tackles .5 sacks and a interception with a forced fumble in that time period. Like the guy said he was not comfortable at all without his hand down and rushing the quarterback, he was a liability when he was not rushing the quarterback, looked like he was lost more like our best defensive end . Not trying to dog the man seeing that he is hurt but don't try to hype him up either.

Not trying to dog the man seeing that he is hurt but don't try to hype him up either. What he said. Oh if we recall, the "star" of the kc game was taser boy and the only way he is making money is by suing people. No one is saying pollack could not rush the passer in situations bc he did have a good 1st step and could get up the field quick on the edge and might have developed into a freeney-esque shoulder dipper, but he was not a linebacker, was horrible in coverage and had horrible angles. Oh and why cant jeanty play weak side. I dont get it. Most backers should be interchangable in a 4-3 as it is designed to cover the backer and allow them to flow freely and make plays. Is he that slow? I thought he was a pass rushing machine in the CFL. and dont forget he is only like 23.
Whur CHad At?
Brooks is very versitale. So is Willis, they can play any LB posistion.

NJ29
I don't see a DE early either, just because we re-upped both the starters already. I wouldn't be mad if we took one, just don't see it. I think secondary, with Madieu moving to corner if Reggie Nelson or LaRon Landry are there. The reason I would rather do that is because no corners jump out at me and impress me a ton. Whur CHad At?
Right on Rover, but I doubt Nelson or Landry will be their at 18. The Corners this year suck
NJ29
Yeah, Landry's 40 time pretty much puts him out of reach, but I'm hoping Atlanta takes Jarrett or Ginn and Nelson can slip to us. I don't see the point of taking a round 1 CB, when we can get someone of similar skill in the second.
Whur CHad At?
I really like Fred Bennett. This guy is underrated and will be a good corner
