Do you think the Bengals will make a run at him. He is considered the best blocking TE and he is under utilized in the passing game. He will get good money but I think he is worth it. He will significantly improve our pass protection, running game and passing game. If we fork out any money, this is the guy to spend it on.

After tagging Justin, they'd be hard pressed just to re-sign Tony Stewart right now. May be time to start getting used to the idea of Ronnie Ghent and Tim Day as the Bengals TEs next year. They'd have to open up the vault for Justin on a long-term deal, cut either B-Simms or Thorton or else let a few RFAs walk if other teams plunder them just to start thinking about signing a TE who'll want even Reggie Kelly money.

Graham would be a significant upgrade to any TE we have had in a long time. He has really good hands and is a better blocker than Kelly. He is a overall better athlete. If you watch him play, he catches everything with his hands(soft hands) and blocks as well as a tackle. He is able to pull off a TE screen because of his athletic ability. I would like to see Kelly try and pull that off. That would be humerous.

Graham has repeatedly say he wants to be more involved in the passing game instead of just being a blocker. He won't come here if thats the case

China doll injured. Cheech very well be suspended 2-4 games and graham being the featured TE on team he'd probbley be able get 40+ Balls since we woulden't have spread it to 3 different te's with him like we did when schobel was our leading te

It would be nice and all, but from history we won't pursue him. He isnt over 30 years old or out of his prime yet, so there is no purpose for him yet. But I hope I am wrong, I with you Kaz, would be happy as hell if we could sign him. Im thinking like a 4 year $9 million dollar deal, which is very do able, but Mikey might not fork out the cash due to the reasons above.

I don't think so. Kelly made $1,250,000 last season. I don't expect him to go after, or get, big dollars. Plus, his relationship with Palmer has me believing that money doesn't have much to do with it. Kelly will be back.

They could get Kelly done but it depends on how long it takes him to realize that no other team is likely to pay him as much as the Bengals will. Might seem like leverage for him at first but I would doubt it turns out to be. If it were a $1.25 cap hit, which it most likely wouldn't be, the Bengals would be close to the cap.

If all that's left is $10 mill after tagging Justin, that's going to be just about the amount needed to sign 6 RFAs at the lowest tender and at least a $4 mill rookie pool. Eventually, it'll take cuts, passing on a RFA or 2 or extending Justin to lower the cap at some point to do anything more than Kelly.

Tagging Justin straps them pretty good. They could still make a free agent before the RFA tenders and rookie pool count toward the cap, though and worry about balancing it out later. But it sure looks like they'll have cap resrevations about signing any more more of their own UFAs much less anyone else's.

If it were a $1.25 cap hit

I'd take a $1.25 cap hit ANY DAY! "Here's your signing bonus, $1.25." Over two seasons? Three quarters. Not bad. :P

If we can't re-sign Reggie Kelly, we're in some serious trouble. Anyway, I think you're being very gracious with Kelly, other teams, and money demands. Simply put, I really don't believe Reggie Kelly will ask for anything that would prevent him from re-signing here. He seems genuinely interested in staying a Bengal.

Here's things we do know however.

1. No one can seem to find or calculate a consistent and accurate team cap number.

2. No one knows what Reggie Kelly is actually demanding.

3. No one knows what the team will address in free agency and the draft.

That might be the high bidder for Kelly

But what he does he does halfway decent, just not much of a receiving TE.

The question I have is do the Bengals have any cap room to pursue any UFAs right now be it Klly, Graham or Eric Johnson. I'd rather see them sign an experienced TE rather than rely on PS fodder or a draft pick.....unless that pick is Zach Miller or Ben Patrick.
