Stripes
Nobody wants to get rid of Dre' Bly more than Detroit Lions fans. I had always considered him a solid, underrated corner... But on other boards, Lions fans call him a "high risk-low reward" type player. He can make a big play, but he gives them up just as often. Then again, they're more likely to be hard on him than anyone else too.
ThortonMelon
A healthy and motivated Deltha ONeal is much better than Dre Bly.
ShulaSteakhouse
I agree. That would be a terrible trade if Deltha is going to commit to football. Do you guys just forget Deltha started in the 2005 Pro Bowl? That was no Tory James-like INT fluke season either - it was the real deal. And furthermore Deltha was still better than a lot of CB's last year when he was healthy and playing. Marvin would be an idiot to make that trade. Kazkal
Mybe Keiwan he probbley better suited for the zone because of his lack of speed.

That's been the biggest problem with Bly in Detroit. That would be a terrible trade if Deltha is going to commit to football.Wait a second. You're telling me, that a guy that can't even get his head back into playing football, who plays a freaking kids game for a boat load of cash, while close to burning his SECOND bridge, is worth keeping around IN CASE he comes back? Isn't that the whole "selfish" problem everyone talks about?

cincy9275
this is why i think the bengals and smith should just get a deal done, he wants to stay and the want him back. if then we could add a quality player if smith is signed and not franchised. this way we have some room to do something. Sportsdoc
He is much better as a man corner v. cover 2. He is small for a cover 2 corner
schweinhart
Trading 1 30 year old corner for another is only an immediate impact move anyway. Regardless of any of Bly's preceived faults at least he wants to play and play for a winning team. Problem will be leverage. How many times will a team buy that O'Neal just needs a fresh start? The lions would want more than the Bengals would be willing to give. But Bly has a history of being vocal about criticizing the organization for how inept they are.If they really want Bly, the more realistic trade might be to dump Chris Perry for him and swap 2nd round picks. But the Lions might not be in the market for another injury prone RB with free agency opening up soon.

Send Perry back to Michigan, and get a decent CB in return, and an early 2nd rounder? Sounds like a steal!
Stripes
I'd honestly rather have Perry than Bly. Moving up in the second would be intriguing... but meh.
agreen_112
YES. Deltha and James are both garbage! We need new corners, hopefully we'll adress that in Free Agency this year.
rwalling
The more I think about this idea, the more I like it. Bly was a stud in St. Louis and in Detroit before the team's overall disfunction got to him. Could the Bengals put together one of there strengths/Detroit's need, say our depth on OL or WR, with a second day pick to get Bly? It takes the pressure off CB in the 1st round and let's you look at S, LB, or DT. The thought of having Madieu, DJax, Bly, JJoe, Deltha, and say Landry or Griffin as a drafted safety available in next season's secondary strikes me as pretty attractive. WhoDeyForever
I would love to have Dre Bly instead of Deltha...He is still a very good corner despite him getting older..He would be an upgrade over James and O'Neal combined..Him and JoJo would make a pretty good duo..Bly is also from where I used to live (Chesapeake,VA)
HoosierCat
Bly was traded to Denver today for Tatum Bell, George Foster and a fifth round pick.
Whur CHad At?
Great pickup for Denver, horrible pick up for Lions. Denver's front office is amazing and smart
Kazkal
They got rid of their 2nd? or was T.bell 3rd rnd pick plus a solid starter at Oline for a over the hill cornerback ? how is that a good deal? they could just gave up a 3rd or 4th.To me denver got jewed. Whur CHad At?
Bell sucked, Foster really sucked, and they gave away a 5th round pick for a good Pro Bowl caliber player. That Denver secondary will be scary next seasonBell was a second round pick.
Kazkal
Well friends gonna be pissed. T.Bell was first jersey he ever bought.
