Super Bowl XLI

If Rex Grossman is smart, he just will never come back from Miami.

Seriously, if he ever shows up in Chicago again, I think he may very well be killed.

What a horrible, horrible performance.

+ congrats to the Colts. Didn't really think there was an MVP tho...really a team win by Indy. Grossman could be the anti-MVP tho.

yea but you had to give it to Peyton Manning

There was no clear-cut MVP so I think that was the thinking. Not that Manning didn't have a good game...but that was all he had: a good game. Personally, I thought Addai deserved it more; he was clutch all game. But if I had to punch anyone's MVP ticket I would have punched Hayden's. His pick 6 was the gamebreaker.

MVP: Devin hester

Son of a Bitch!!!!! I was so pumped when he scored the TD because I had 25 beans on him to win MVP and he was going off at 25-1 and had the Bears to score a TD in the 1st quarter.

But the Colts got smart and stopped kicking to him. he definitely would have broken a couple huge runs and could have been MVP, B/c the Bears would have had much better field position or possibly another TD.

Hester is GOD. I wish he was in stripes.

I'll be the first to predict that Hester finishes the 2007 season with one or fewer kick/punt returns for touchdowns. The man has amazing talent and is perfectly suited for the role he plays, but he was just out of his mind this year. It has to be an aberration and not something to expect yearly.

I thought Addai should have got it. He carried that team through the second quarter and into the third. Their O-line played extremely well also. The run blocking was great and Manning had pretty good protection most of the night.

While it is easy to point out the mistakes by Grossman, the Bears defense didn't show me much. When you don't get turnovers, most defenses will appear average.

They did get turnovers, tho, several of them. But then Rex went and horked the ball up even more. And when the Chicago O didn't turn it over, they couldn't move the chains and stay on the field, which left the D out there the whole game.

Chicago's D gave up 22 points, which is hardly an insurmountable number. But when your O can only score 10 points...

I would tend to agree with this prediction. Look at Daunte Hall after the year he had a couple of years ago. Now he might get lucky to get one a season because the teams adjusted to him and how they kick to him. After a player becomes super human for a season, teams adjust to that player and he becomes human again. Expect the same to happen to Devin.

Look at the time of possession and number of plays per drive in the middle of the game. The Bears were able to hold them to field goals which kept them in the game but I wasn't impressed with them. They were suppossed to be the difference in the game and they were not.

Well, you won't get any argument from me there; I've been saying that the Bears' D is over-rated all season. That said, I thought they did the best job they could under the circumstances -- namely being hung out to dry by an offense that couldn't generate a first down to save its life and, when given opportunities by the defense, repeatedly threw them away.

Really, this game was a twin of the Bengals-Colts game. Same defensive strategy of taking away the Colts' deep game, same response by Manning & Co.: dink-n-dunk passes, run the ball, control the clock. Bears didn't have any more of an answer for it than we did. And the same thing on offense: O can't stay on the field, can't get points, can't give the D a rest. Even the results were virtually the same: 29-17 in the SB; 34-16 us versus Indy.

Rex Grossman was talking about how the media needs to get off his nuts and how good he is. That was the worst performance I have ever seen from a QB. He doesn't belong in the NFL. Everyone knows how to beat the Bears now. DOn't Kick to Devin Hester and you will win!

This Super Bowl sucked IMO. It just wasnt an exciting game at all. Plus the commericals sucked ass too. There was 2 good commericals, the rest sucked. Pathetic SB.

I didn't think Rex was nearly as badly as people have been saying since the game. The pick six to Hayden was a terrible decision granted, and the pick he threw to Sanders was just a poor throw... but he's not the first by any means to make a couple of bad throws in the Superbowl. He did finish with 20 completions in 28 attempts, and made as many good throws in the first half as he did poor throws in the second. That touchdown pass to Moose was great... threaded the needle to perfection.

True -- but he didn't acquire the nickname (among many others) of Interceptasaurus Rex this past season by accident. "Wrecks" (my fav Grossman nickname) has been giving Bears fans and Chicago sportswriters fits for quite some time.

As for those two picks, they were signature Grossman interceptions. He has been living -- and dying -- all year with those "close your eyes and fling it long" type of passes. The Bears receiving corp is under-rated and they have saved his bacon on a lot of those throws this year. But they were all picks waiting to happen, and a lot of them did.

I dont know which way da Bearz go with Rex from here. I don't think they cut him loose, but you gotta think he isn't a slam-dunk to return as starter, either.

With even a moderately more competent QB, they would have won. IMHO he (and possibly some poor play calling) is the reason they lost...period.

Colts 27

Bears 13

I believe I was closest to the actual score of Colts 29 - Bears 17. The ONLY game I predicted well out of the entire playoffs!

Prince SUCKS.

I thought "Purple Rain" was pretty damn appropriate!

I think I had 34-20 Colts for a differential of 8. You were off by 6. You da man BB!

It is debateable. He didn't play well; I think everyone would agree on that.

I think he contributed a good amount to the Bears losing, but I don't think his struggles were as important to the game's outcome as the Bears' inability to generate a pass rush with the front four.
