HoosierCat
18th in the first. After that our pick rotates as part of the group of 8-8 teams. See here:http://forums.bengalszone.com/index.php?showtopic=13851

combatbengal
As it looks right now, it appears that we'll have the 18th pick. Cleveland has the #3 pick and Pittsburgh will select at 15. Now the question is, who do we pick? DL, LB, or a DB? I think our tackling improved from last year but we still can't stop the run or cover WR's. walshfan
With the first pick the team should look at replacing James with a speedy cornerback... He'll need lots of speed due to the time the opposing QB's have to pass!A pass rusher or DT in the later rounds is a necessity as well and how bout an intimidator at SS??? Jackson is serviceabvle at best and he's allmost 30...
Whur CHad At?
We will replace James in FA with Nate Clements, look for a LB or DE here, most likely Quentin Moses
GregCook
The Bengals are in a tough spot having lost most of their 2005 Day 1 draft and their number 1 from 2004(Perry) rarely playing. That is two number 1's and a number 2. Devastating. Is there any team with such bad luck? All the positions you mentioned are in serious need for help. Most needy is DB. Only one starter now with Joesph and neither Deltha or Tory will play in Cincy. The game 1 starters for DB's are in the first round. Next LB if possible in round 2. DT can always be found in Day 2. But between LB and DB, go with best player available. In all I see room for 5 new starters on next years defense.Marvin has always found good players in the draft, its just that some can't get on the field and stay there. Now he has to use Free Agency to overcome the 2005 draft disaster and losing the number 1 in 2004. As it looks right now, it appears that we'll have the 18th pick. Cleveland has the #3 pick and Pittsburgh will select at 15. Now the question is, who do we pick? DL, LB, or a DB? I think our tackling improved from last year but we still can't stop the run or cover WR's.
Kazkal
I wonder if will have a shot at alan branch...I don't see him going top 10 and rams would be main team select him before us but they should have shot at better play maker. Spor_tees
Let's suck really bad next year so we can get a high enough draft pick to take Darren McFadden
Kazkal
We will replace James in FA with Nate Clements, look for a LB or DE here, most likely Quentin MosesDDude no celements will not be worth 60million dollars....plus we'd be paying Oneal 4million a year to play knickle. We should be in good place for either CB or mosses/Woodley who i'd like be drafted as SLB
delhole
Marcus McCauley, Marcus McCauley, Marcus McCauley!!!!"The type of lockdown corner that every team is constantly searching for."Keep an eye on this guys numbers in the combine. 6'1", 205lbs., and runs a 4.35?!?!?! Whur CHad At?
Clements isn't going to get $60 million, he will get at best $35-38 million at best. He is worth the money, and we would be stupid not to invest in him. He is a shutdown corner, fast, great tackler(which we lack), and he is young(26 years old). HoosierCat
Clements isn't going to get $60 million, he will get at best $35-38 million at best.I would say that there is about as much chance of the Bengals spending $35-40 million on an outside FA -- any outside FA -- as there is that I will spontaneously grow a third arm and leg and land a role as Lt. Arex in the next Star Trek movie. It just isn't Mikey's style.
futurebengal08
We need a running back. Rudi didn't show me crap this year, and Chris Perry is like that vase in everyone's house that their mother loves. A stiff breeze could knock him out for the season. I think we could have one of the best o-lines in the league next year(we should've this year), and a 4.0 and and a 4.3 average the previous two years (when our o-line was healthy) just doesnt cut it. I'm tired of hearing that he wears on a defense. Get a back that can thrive even without a stellar o-line, put them behind our big n uglies, and this team will take off. I didn't see Rudi pull a juke move all year, and that would be fine if he had more power, but he doesn't. He has been helped by a great o-line in his career. His career long is 54 yards, and that was in 2003. He will never be a receiving threat. I don't have anything against him, and I appreciate what he's done, but I think we need to at least start shopping around for a guy with some raw skills and potential. I sure hope he proves me wrong next year.
TJJackson
I too like Marcus McCauley, but think we need improvement in the front seven more than we need a corner.I'd say a DL or LB in 1 and a CB or S in 2, optimally. No offensive players til round 5 or later

Kazkal
PS,I have no problem with more front 7 help...DT only one I really would like at 18 would be branch and probbley be gone....LB:Paul Posluszny, willis,Timmons,Moses or woodley would all seem like nice picks who ever is on the board.DE:Gaines Adams or mybe SPencer? (just resign justin and geathers!)

schweinhart
Spencer might make for the best replacement of Pollack. Not sure he can swing every down DE in a 4-3 and probably gets his 1st looks as a 3-4 OLB who plays down wide a lot.But Jamaal Anderson is an altogther different beast. He's the closest thing to Super Mario in this draft and at 6-6/280, he would be the one D-lineman in this draft I wouldn't mind seeing Marv & Co. blur their DE/DT edges. He's a physically dominant player but in a 4-3, he'd just about have to play LDE like he does at Arkansas and some RDT on passing downs for starters.Charles Johnson of Georgia declared and may end up picked ahead of Moses but Anderson is the beast to get if they go after a DE.
