Dan2330
Obviously the easiest scenerio would be Raiders over Jets which I actually like as the possible upset (more so then 49ers over Broncos). Just something about a team that stinks to all hell, in this case the Raiders, coming out on the final Sunday and kicking the butts of a team trying to get in the playoffs like the Jets. I have liked the Raiders D all season long, and absolutelty hated their no moving offense. Damn shame of it is I still can't believe if the Jets win and they are in and we are at home for the playoffs, man New Years could be depressing this year! I actually think SF over Denver is possible SF is not a patsy (they beat Seattle who beat Denver in Invesco) so I think that is more possible. Oakland's D as some players but there is a reason they are 2-13. I don't see Pennington losing in this situation.

ArmyBengal
No Moss or Porter for the Raiders doesn't help their chances either... Not to mention Brooks is a piece of trash as a QB !!!WHODEY !!!
schweinhart
Neither upset is likely but there;s reason to believe both are possible.Penny won't gash the Raiders and Leon Washington will have a much harder time breaking free for long gains from short passes because the Raiders have hellacious speed at LB and the secondary. So long as the Raiders can keep the Jets medicore run game under control, the Raiders defense ought to hold. Jerricho Cotchery should be their biggest big-play threat on offense and Justin Miller on returns would be a major factor if he gets free.Offensively, the Raiders should just say eff it and throw every down. They will get nothing running the ball in this game and I believe Andre Dyson is out, which adds to the Jets weakness at the corners. But the Raiders offense is so bad. To hope they can put something together for 1 game, the whole game, is ridiculous.Jets 20Raiders 3The Donkeys are finding their groove under Cutler and he'll only get better fast. I don't see the Niner defense handling the Denver offense with much success nor does the Denver defense look like it will buckle under the Frank Gore-Alex Smith gameplan. But if Smith goes off, both by air and ground, the Niners could hang around.Donkeys 27Niners
HoosierCat
Memo from the Silver Linings Dep't:If it is, as it seems, highly unlikely that the Bengals will make the playoffs now...well, I cant go as far as recommending we root for the Steelers, but a loss here could have a positive impact on the Bengals draft picture. Heres how things (almost) stand now:http://www.ourlads.com/draftsequence.cfmSince the Giants won last night and will almost certainly make the playoffs -- it would take a wildly improbable seres of events for Green Bay to knock them out -- they will fall into the playoff group, the Bengals now stand at 20.KC and Jax, both 8-7, are playing today. At least one of them will fall below Cincy if we lose. Seattle ought to beat Tampa (tho the way the Hags have been playing you never know). That all would move us up to 18. If Buffalo wins and we lose, we leapfrog them and end up in the 16th slot.OTOH If I'm reading this right is the Bengals win today the best they could get is the 20th pick. Depending on how things go we could fall as low as 22, though that would require Tennessee making the postseason.
redsrule2500
It's possible, would be amazing if it actually happens!!We can hope!
HoosierCat
OK, if my calculations are right, we are in the 18th slot right now. If Buffalo beats Baltimore, I think we move up to 17. Go Bills!
HoosierCat
Bills lose, as expected. So I believe we pick 18th in round 1. So we picked up 2 spots by losing. Thats something, I suppose...
HoosierCat
Well, it's GB over da Bears 23-0 in the 3rd. If that holds, a quarter of the league, 8 teams, will be .500. Parity or parody? You make the call. Makes for a draft logjam. Assuming a GB win, the 8-8 "group" will draft in the No. 13 through No. 20 spots in round one:13. St. Louis14. Carolina15. Green Bay16. Pittsburgh17. Jacksonville18. Cincinnati19. Tennessee20. New York GiantsIn subsequent rounds, they will begin rotating, with the top team in the group dropping to the bottom and everyone else moving up one notch. When did they start doing that?Dunno. As far as I know it's always been like that. I didn't know about it until last year, either, when they were one of five 11-5 clubs. It makes for one more small piece of good news: the third rounder we spent on Brooks turns out to be the 20th pick in the 3rd round, the point where the Bengals hit the bottom of the group. Then they will have the 13th pick to start off day 2.
