These must win losses are a sign of bad coaching

I love Marvin, and I love the way he has made the Bengals a competitive team, but the loss at home to Cleveland in his 1st year and last weeks Bronco loss tells me the team isn't responding to something. It's strange, but I have no feeling whasoever that the Shanahan Bronocs or Mangini teams will lose this weekend because so much is on the line. They will have their guys ready. The Bengals always seem to fold in the big ones. I don't know if it's youth, character, planning, or talent. It's just a bummer.

I personally believe that it is harder to sustain success than it is to achieve success. The 2-14 team could only get better. But now that they made the playoffs last year, it becomes a different mindset. Guys are more worried about outside things (videos, blonde mohawks, booze, underage chicks, etc) than the task at hand. Getting the best from each team every week is something new when you are considered one of the best.

While I think the defensive coaching staff must be thoroughly reviewed this offseason, I lay this season on the players. Beating inferior teams (TB, ATL.) and having that killer instinct to finish off winable games (SD, Denver) was not a strong trait for this years team and is a sign of immaturity.

A wise man once said the difference between 6-10 and 10-6 is a handful of plays. This year was a perfect example of that.

Let's not forget that this is not Madden '07 either and we are not playing against the computer, we are playing other NFL teams that are being paid to beat you too, that said the losses that were mentioned early to TB and ATL also had some bad calls by the refs, but we still should have won, those were 2 games the Bengals made no adjustments at the half and lost, that is coaching, especially on that 3rd & 17 and you rush 3 people and drop 8 into coverage on MVick that's BRILLIANT  ...the SD game sticks in my craw because if we win this game that we are up by 21 pts, I wouldn't have to hear how the Chargers are this and that, that game only magnified there supposed greatness...that game I would blame the players...I do believe some changes are needed on the coaching staff, and I hope they all come on the D side of the ball...

I never want to see Marvin go, but I agree. Getting rid of this D coordinator seems like a good idea.

THANKYOU!!!

Finally someone that doesn't blame marvin for every wrong thing the team does!:feelbetter::2guns::cursing::pokey:

Hey, who can't love the coach of the most mediocre team of all time?

Wow, that was a funny read. Six yards difference between gained and given up for a full season? Nuts.

this team was outcoached all season. we constantly under achieved and made dumb-ass mistakes. our defense is one of the worst group of guys ever to play half of them should not even be on a nfl roster. brat bresh simmons are bush league and need to go. there are huge problems with this team and if marvin does not address them then is he the right man for the job.

I'm officially done with Marvin. Terrible coaching job again today, I know he's here to stay for now because it's Cincinnati, but if he doesn't fire Breshnahan, good luck with this team going forward.

In Marvin we trust - give me a break.

Yup. Fire Marvin. He's done nothing but be a terrible head coach for this team. Run him out of town and let him have Cowher's job. Call up Dave Shula, I'm sure he'd be glad to have his job back. Boy, I'd love to go back to the days of 2-14 and being the laughingstock of professional sports. Good times, good times.

The fact of the matter is, that without Marvin Lewis, we are still an embarrassment to this city, this state, and to the sport of football. Marvin has done wonders for this team. Without him, its back to block one. I'm in awe that some of you people are just willing to forget the days of the past and throw Marvin to the curb. Am I happy with the season? No. In no way am I accepting mediocrity. But that has to do with the players' off the field actions, injuries, suspensions, laziness, ect. Did Marvin have some questionable moments this year? Yeah. But the good things he's done for this team FAR outweigh that.

weather we like it or not marvin is responsible for this team taking a huge step backwards this season. he is in charge and he is responsible for keeping this team focused and on track he failed. he is the guy who brought in this pathetic staff and he is the guy who loaded this defense with other teams cast offs, backups and players that can not be relied on. while i am being harsh on him it's the truth. i really hope he can make some changes and get us back on track next season. we will see what happens next season.
