So far, so good. Colts suppose to win!

USA Today and CBS pick the Colts. I just didn't want them being the "underdogs, us against the world" yap. That's the Bengals gig.

Well, be forewarned, because the Bengals were getting much love on Sportscenter. They liked our D, our WRs (!), and they were split on Peyton vs. Carson.

Currently, the Colts are only getting the standard 3 point home field advantage. And as far as that goes, I'm hoping to see lots of you clowns in that dome! ;)

You know, I find this all pretty funny. We have run very successfully with a few exceptions this season, and especially recently. More importantly against teams with poor run defenses, and the COLTS are the WORST of all of them, and not because people DON'T run on them because they are throwing the ball more. People RUN on the COLTS alot, and for alot of yards.

So, just how does everyone think that the Colts are going to out score the Bengals?

I tend to agree - the Colts were very overrated this year earlier. The media didn't notice because they kept winning, but they were pulling out 14-13 wins against teams like TEN. Their point differential is very unimpressive.

Two things about the Colts, one good, one bad: 1) People look at their D as the problem, but their O hasn't been scoring lately; however, 2) They do tend to play to the level of their compeition, with the exception of the second JAX game. They beat NYG early when Eli was playing better, they beat JAX early, they beat NE.

Key to winning this game is making them play a kind of game they don't want to play. Shorten the game and give Rudi the rock!

We'll see. I for one have been concerned about Manning getting hot against our pass defense... but we have a couple things going for us that we didn't have last year.

1) Our safeties are healthy. We have 3 of them that are playing at a high level. Last year we had zero playing well.

2) Dallas Clark is injured. He killed us last year. Their TE's caught 8 balls for 141 yards and 2 TD's, and TE's has been a weakness of this defense again this year. Without him in their linewup, we are less vulnerable.

3) No Stokely. He didn't really kill us last year... but we all know how important that 3rd WR is to the other guys. Wayne went off on us. I don't see Harrison and Wayne having their way with us when we can always have our best 2 DB's on them.

4) Their defense is in the position ours was last year. Way undersized, and injuries to their starting safeties. They will be very vulnerable (just like we were).

With those things in mind... we might want to approach this game the way we always do. We know their defense won't slow us down on offense, so why not try to get out to a quick lead on the arm of Palmer, and then shorten the game once we're up by a couple scores.

If we accomplish that... not only do we keep Manning off the field when it matters most, but we make their offense 1-dimensional being down by more than 1 score, and that will help our defense as much, if not more, than running the ball from the beginning.

I commented on a couple of these points in the Bengals-Colts tread! This is right on the money!

Their safeties are key, as were ours last year. Missing them to injury is huge, and it makes a huge difference for us to have ours healthy this year.

I think this will be the difference in the game: ours are healthy and we will control the Indy running game and hold up better vs the pass and the Colts will have problems with our run and passing games!

Who Dey!

I would also like to add that Addai just had an MRI on his injured ankle. They came back negative, but you got wonder how effective he will be? With no running game their offense is one dimensional, and pretty leaky defense could mean high scoring for the Bengals low scoring for the Colts.

I'm with Derek also, I don't like the matchup with PManning on our pass D...but the thing is I think they will be so focused on stopping the run that that is going to open up alot of play action I hope you read this BBratkowski...but I hope not a shootout like last year, I ain't feelin' the 2ndary right now...

From a Bengals defensive perspective, we'll at least be able to avoid last year's mistake of keying off on the running game and having Peyton beat us instead.

And there it is. Quite frankly, I'll never live long enough to understand how any team facing the Colts can determine that their best chance to win is built upon the idea of stopping the Colt running game first, and the passing game second.

I'm still mad about it.

Because the Bengals were worse last year against power runners than they are this year. Also, the Colts had E. James last year and he was running all over defenses. Our pass defense was very successful with turnovers, etc. The Bengals game plan was to outscore the Colts not allowing them to get the time of possession advantage through the run game. It almost worked. We lost 45-37.

I can understand the logic, but as that would have compared to the logic of gameplanning against the pass... I don't see the benefit. As they played, they simply granted that Manning and his receivers would score their points, so they forced them to do it quickly while Carson and his crew countered score for score. Bleh?

I'd prefer they allow the much less threatening Colts running game to move up the field as it may, forcing the Colts into a slower paced (faster in terms of the clock) game with more opportunities for mistakes. They chose to play in a shootout when that wasn't necessary.

I don't think many people would take satisfaction with a narrow loss to the Colts. We should beat them.

Both of our defenses have struggled, but ours now has a fire lit underneath it. The Colts are floundering. If we become the team that sets the Colts straight, the we have no chance in the playoffs.

I would run every mis-direction play Marvin has in the book on Monday so the Colts defense has no chance of getting any rhythm. With our playmakers and their haymakers, we should roll.

Of course it will probably become a situation of keeping the Colts' O off the field.

Hopefully we put together some LONG drives for touchdowns.

Not a good sign: ESPN Expert Picks

I like the fact Merrill Hoge pick Cincy over Indy, especially when you look at the fact he was also the only one to pick San Francisco over Seattle! Personally I say Bengals win 31-17 Monday night. WHO DEY!! :bengal:

You want to see something even more amazing, check out the last item in this week's 10-Pack on profootballtalk.com. The one where Florio projects the AFC Championship game to be Bengals - Ravens.

And no Florio, if the Bengals make it that far, they ain't gonna lose to the Ravens...
