NYBengalfan
Great game, he had a couple of drops but he came back. He is a hell of a role model. He didnt let the drops get to him and he is so tough. He came back strong. And his second TD when he pulled up lame, I got a feeling it was hurting a long way before he got to the endzone. He really gutted that out.

BengalPimp
Chad super-glued all his haters' lips shut....in 2 weeks.....with his17 rec 450 yards 5 TD's..............How can anybody not be impressed with that.Note to Chad: if you keep playing like this, you'll be lucky if you EVER see single coverage again. MiamiOH91604
Where are all the chad haters now.exactly. I knew he'd come around..he's too talented not to. Its hard to wrap my mind around the idea of "WHAT IF" nobody had been injured the beginning of the season, and Odell never got into trouble. Carson really has impressed me this year coming from his injury. He gets so much respect from coaches and players from other teams who see how well he performs although only tearing up his knee LESS than a year ago
CBin2k7
I think the reason Chad is getting in the groove is because the play calling has been different the last two games. The Bengals have taken more shots and he and Carson has delivered. Carson also has had more time to get CJ the ball. It's a beautiful thing. ArmyBengal
You can get down on Chad all you want, but when push comes to shove, you want him in Stripes !!! Could you see Chad playing anywhere but Cincinnati and would you want him going up against our defense ?? I think the answer to those questions are NO and NO !!!WHODEY !!! membengal
Pretty sure, as CJ's mid-season supernova registers on the stats, that we can all agree at this point that he is the best receiver ever in Bengals history. Even better than Isaac Curtis at this point. Well on his way to leading the AFC for a fourth straight year in receiving yards. Unreal. rishipatel
It was only a matter of time until Chad got out of that funk and he and Carson re-established that connection. I think it is safe to say that Chad is again the #1 receiver and TJ is #2. Although I was happy with TJ's play while he was carrying the receiving load, it is good to see Chad doing what he does best again.
Stripes
The "Chad haters" never questioned his production. They (myself included) wanted him to quit crying like a baby when he doesn't get his way. He's supposed to be a leader out there when he's the face of the team.He has been unstoppable the last two weeks though. I'm glad to see it. derekshank
Where are all the chad haters now.Okay... I'll bite. As TDB noted... it wasn't about his production. I knew he'd get that together eventually. He's too talented to have a year-long funk. It was the crying, bitching, and blame-shifting. It's easy to look like the fun-loving guy that talks "fun trash" and is a media darling when the team is winning. But when we had lost a few games in a row, his true character came through. He's not a leader. He's an incredibly gifted athlete... but he's a prima donna and high-maintenance. You can't count on him to be a positive influence in the locker-room when the conditions aren't ideal. He's a diva and he's all about himself. As a Bengal fan, I want guys in the locker-room who are team-players, don't pout, and don't point fingers. Chad isn't that kind of guy. I still want him on the team. He's too talented to let go... and it's clear that Marvin and Palmer know how to manage him... but it gets old. He's certainly fun to watch when things are going well, but when they aren't - I'm willing to admit that I've run fairly low on patience with the guy. Stripes
Chad's an NFL record holder.Chad Johnson gained 190 yards receiving in the Bengals' 31-16 win at New Orleans. Combined with his 260-yard performance against the Chargers last week, Johnson set an all-time NFL record for receiving yardage in consecutive games (450). The previous mark was 448 yards by John Taylor of the 49ers in December 1989.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=261119018

I mean, they all do, but I think he really REALLY does. And I think it affects his outlook etc. Part of maturity for CJ will be handling the bad with the good, I think we all acknowledge that. But, for godssake, I will continue to put up with the bad, because when CJ is right and it clicking? Never seen anything like it in Bengals stripes. He is emotional, and when it comes to losing he does not like it. Sometimes I wish he would tone it down, but Chad won me over back in 02 when he put his head down and started grinding. Back in '02 when the Bengals were 2-14 and Chad had very little star power to him, he emerged as hard of a worker as you will see in the NFL. He is still that to this day. He strapped up when the Bengals were 2-14, he didn't go Corey Dillon or Carl Pickens, he is one of the main reasons the Bengals perception has changed in the media. CJ will get on your nerves at times, but there is no denying that he has a positive impact on the Bengals.
agreen_112
This is the reason why I took him as my 1st round pic in Fantasy Football and named my team "Chad and Co." He's really starting to pay off for me going into the playoffs soon. He's helped lead me to a 3 game winning streak.

But now that I traded him, he is starting to put up some terrific numbers.Your all welcome!
agreen_112
never trade your 1st pick man, that's the rule of thumb! Who'd ya get for him? Torry Holy? TO? A RB? Dumb move....

He is emotional, and when it comes to losing he does not like it.I'm not judging him on what he says. I couldn't give a damn what he says. It is the way he acts. He constantly shows up Carson Palmer with little fits if the ball isn't thrown perfectly. He pouts if he has a bad first quarter and is lost for the game... and lets not forget the half-time explosion during the playoff game. Maybe he didn't throw a punch... but we know something happened. That is because Chad is too high-maintenance. Hell of a player... I'll just never view him as the leader of this team. He's just that loud guy that everyone notices.

I mean obviously it's Palmers team, but Chad is definitely an offensive leader. I do think that he calls out Palmer a bit too much though, not every throw is going to be perfect. He just doesn't want anyone to think it was his fault that he missed the ball, he cares about his image a bit too much also...

He just doesn't want anyone to think it was his fault that he missed the ball. That's just it. Time after time Palmer takes the blame on himself for things that aren't his fault. Maybe that's part of being a QB... but he takes the blame for O-Line false starts, poor blocking, and dropped passes. Chad... all he does is complain that he doesn't touch the ball enough when we lose. That's not a leader. He's the most vocal guy on the team... but Willie, Palmer, and Housh (probably in that order) are the leaders of this offense.
HoosierCat
The "Chad haters" never questioned his production. They (myself included) wanted him to quit crying like a baby when he doesn't get his way.Well, that's just the point. Paint his comments any way you want, but the bottom line is, Chad was absolutely right. The Bengals needed to find a way to get the ball into the hands of their biggest playmaker -- a point I made repeatedly while so many others were busy tarring Chad as a cancer. They did so, and what happened? The offense exploded.Gregg Doyel made the same point today over at sportsline.com. NEW ORLEANS -- Two weeks ago, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson bitched about not getting the ball enough, and you're not going to believe what happened next.He got the ball more. This is the NFL, where the surest way to get attention is to ask narcissistically, a tactic that already had worked this season for Cleveland's Kellen Winslow and Dallas' Terrell Owens. Winslow and Owens bitched about not being involved enough, and sure enough, they've been incredibly involved ever since. Funny how that works.Johnson's petulant plea for more passes two weeks ago has benefited Johnson, but it has benefited the Bengals offense, too. Funny how that works. The more a team's best player gets the ball, the better that team is. Fascinating.
