walzav29
I believe that Cincy's D is a lot faster than it was when Atlanta won 30-3. Who will shadow Vick? What will Dexter tell Chuck? Will Palmer and the offense finally get in a groove if he finally has all of his weapons. Could be 1st game this year he hasTJChadRudiPerryHenrySame starting offensive line for 2 straight games. Tasher
I don't think that the Bengals will go to a "spy" type offense. I think that Brez stresses area responsibility, staying in lanes and not getting too far up field in the rush so that Vick does not have a huge gap to exploit in running. There will be a huge responsibility on the LBs and Safeties this week, no doubt! Read the keys and come downhill!
ShulaSteakhouse
You have to contain Vick and keep him between the tackles - but with the wild man mentality of Justin Smith that probably won't happen - they better coach Justin up this week to play under control and not get pushed out of contain or sucked up inside. If you get a lead and make Vick beat you throwing the ball in the pocket, you will beat them. Vick's a good QB, but is probably one of the most overrated QB's of our generation.
bengalboomer7
I also don't think you'll see much in the way of a spy, but probably some more defensive end contain, trying to kkep Vick in front of them and off the edges
BengalszoneBilly
I'm sure Coach Lewis payed close attention to what the Steelers did last weekend, and will strive NOT to make the same mistakes. In Marvin I Trust!
walzav29
I think Vick sucks except when he plays slower undisciplined defenses. Good defenses chew him up and spit him out. Good test for the D.
BULLDOGG
I agree with BengalBoomer that we will use our DE's to contain Vick, as most of his scrambles are to the outside (on film, most of the time to the left). I expect to see more of our quicker DL's during the game, as the Falcons's also use the old Denver Broncos' "zone-blocking" scheme that promotes a lot of cutbacks through the gaps. I would like to see Peko and Shaun Smith (especially after Chad's been mentioning him all week) get more reps in this game. Fanene could also help, although I don't think he'll be active. Geathers and Smith on the outside should be able to do a decent job in containment. It helps that he have DJ for this game, as I'm sure his experience against Vick in his Bucs days will come into play on Sunday. We have to keep an eye on Jerrious Norwood, whose running style is a lot like Laurence Maroney's, in terms of pure speed and explosiveness. He effictively ran T.J. Duckett out of town, so that should say something. All and all, I expect a Bengals win as they just won't have enough DB's to slow our passing attack down. T.J. has a huge day in the win! Walrus
I think Vick sucks except when he plays slower undisciplined defenses. Good defenses chew him up and spit him out. Good test for the D.Actually, I kind of think the opposite. Don't have any hard numbers to prove it, but it seems like he actually does better against more aggressive D's -- like Pittsburgh last week. I agree with those who are saying how important it will be for J Smith and Geathers to keep containment. And I'd add that Ahmad Brooks could watch film of OT51 last year to get an idea for the kind of over-aggressive pursuit that WON'T work against Vick. Shoot the gap with Brooks, run containment with your DE's and keep Vick from scrambling. If they can properly time this and their run blitzes, I think it could be very successfull. Stripes
It's so hard to spy Vick knowing they have Alge Crumpler. With their crappy receivers, the safeties should be free to stay on him and handle Warrick Dunn. I think the DEs will be responsible for Vick. If the DT rotation can consistently get penetration, that'd be huge to disrupt Vick's movements.
