I'm a big fan of gutsy calls and I especially love going for it on 4th and 1 but what made me want to strangle Brat was the type of play it was. I have to give him credit for having balls on that play but giving it to Rudi and telling him to get that one yard would have been safer. I'm estatic it worked and that we are out of our passive/conservative yawn mode though. Whoever said our Offense was playing the offensive version of prevent defense was right, glad we are back on track. (By the by, the only thing a Prevent defense prevents is adding a W to your record.)

I let out a string of profanities (which really isn't my style) that I'm sure my neighbors heard I was so pumped. No joke... my 2 dogs ran into another room they were so freaked out because I yelled so loud.

I mentioned it on another thread... but that single play felt like to me like the turning point of the season.

We'd been waiting for a big conversion to extend a drive... You don't get bigger than 4th and 1.

We'd been waiting for aggressive play-calling... You don't get much more aggressive than that.

We'd been waiting for a big play from Carson to Chad... You don't get much bigger than that.

We'd been waiting for the offense to finally click and get a late TD drive to take the lead... yep, meets that critera.

It all came together perfectly like it was scripted. Reminded me very much of the 4th and 1 that Ohio State had in the last minute of teh game against Purdue when they were down by 6. Maybe we're a team of destiny after-all.

I would have loved to see it go into the hands of rudi...but then again at the same time weren't many of us on this forum complaining about how predictable the play calls have been? Plus too often I see rudi get stuffed on those short plays. I would take that any day.

To be honest, my pucker factor was fairly modest. I'll admit that I wasn't expecting a pass that deep, but I was hoping the Bengals wouldn't run a predictable blast up the middle against Carolina's stacked front. So I was pretty jazzed to see Palmer drop back to pass.

Not to downplay the play itself, but I would have been ALMOST as thrilled with a 2 or 3 yard modest gain. In fact, the greatest impact from the play may not have been the total of yards gained, but the incredible weight that seems to have been lifted from Chad Johnson's shoulders.

No kidding, I think he's been geeking....and pretty close to tears.
