WhoDey93285
Are quickly ruining this season. Simmons, Jaxson, ect out is absolutely killing our run defense...and the injuries to our offensive line, which now includes Levi Jones, has absolutely decimated this offense. What was such a promising, super bowl caliber season, we'll be lucky if we get into the playoffs. Really disapointing.
AGrizzlyBaer
i was just thinking about that... i was thinking a quarter of the starting line up was out. richie, levi, dexter, simmons, pollack, not to mention the suspesion to o'dell. you can only loose so much and still be good. and dont forget the back ups of jeanty and washington being hurt now. depth can only carry you so far... Ox
While I totally agree with injuries biting us in the ass, we held Cadillac to 94 yards rushing. The bucs as a team rushed for more than 100, but it wasn't ghastly. At this point I'm more worried about our Offensive ineptness than the D. Ox
Oh and run defense sucked with simmons in.You mean when Simmons played before this game? Hmmm I don't know about that. Altogether Cadillac was held to 96 yards rushing. The rookie QB had 19 yards. Pittman had 11. Altogether the D gave up 126 on the ground to 3 players. The run did not suck. Our inability to tackle and move the ball is what the real problem was today. That and the f*cking penalties.
AGrizzlyBaer
oh and i forgot about the perry's being out. at least two carry perry is back next week...
derekshank
We'll get Perry back next week, Henry back the week after. That will help a lot. Still... there is no reason that Rudi should have been shut up the way he was.All the injuries are the reason that Tampa was able to stay in this game. The Refs are the reason they won it. WhoDey93285
Looked good the first two games when we were fully healthy. After Dexter went out it all went down hill....
Sportsdoc
The injuries hurt a lot, but I don't think we suffered with WHit in for Levi.... KK is less than Djax, and who knows how much we miss Odell or Pollack... I suspect we miss ODELL more.....
cincy9275
the injuries are killing us not counting the suspensions too . there is no excuse for just playing like s**t and not executing on offense . this whole offensive unit needs to pull there head out of there asses and get this thing rolling . our defense for all the backups playing today did a damn good job . our offense getting down close to scoring and coming out with fieldgoals is bulls**t . i think this offense needs to get back to basics and just try to create some kind of momentum . whatever the problem is we need to get it fixed or we may be looking at just being lucky to finish 8-8 . because right now we do not look anything like a playoff calibur team . .coltrane
Dexter's presence was big, but Kaesviharn is the best we can ask for as a replacement for him. He plays the ball well and doesn't tackle as poorly as a certain other aging corner of ours.Simmons' value lies in experience and leadership. He's not a big playmaker, and never really has been, but he seems to hold the whole defense togethor. The presence of Odell and Simmons gave the defense a great combination of playmaking ability and smarts, which it now seems to lack. Guy-check really has been a revolving door at center. Braham obviously isn't the best there is physically, but he seemed to be the brains of the operation on the offensive line. Ghiacuic just doesn't have it, whatever it is.Many experts predicted that we would be lucky to escape that opening stretch with an above 500 record. We have. This season is far from falling apart. Expect Dex and Jeanty to get back within the next couple weeks, and this defense will slowly improve.
CBin2k7
The offense while good, had it's obvious flaws last season.Just some I notice, the short yardage play calling, far too often the Bengals seem to draw up the worst plays on 2nd and short, or 3rd and short. The lack of a receiving TE, hurts especially in those situations and when you get into the redzone. I have also noticed diminished production from the FB position this year. We gave JJ big bucks in the offseason, they don't even try to work him into the offense.Once Henry, and Perry are back, the offense will improve greatly. membengal
Add in a vote for Tab Perry's absence being a huge factor as well. He had already shown in two games that he had made the leap to knowing how to get open and get the sticks moved on third down as a receiver, and his loss as the kick returner has been profound. This team's four receiver set with CJ, Housh, Henry and Tab is beyond what any team can really deal with. Problem is, they have not had that four together at any point this year.
rwalling
Okay everybody, cleansing breath... Last time I checked we were 3-2, half a game out of the division and tied with Jax for the second wild card if the season ended today. We will get DJax, Perry, Henry, Jeanty, BSimmons (dubious value), Levi, KDub, and maybe even Braham back in the next several weeks. Only Pollack and Odell (j@ckass) are done for the season at this point. If the refs don't take that game into their own hands to determine the outcome, we get a very satisfying road win with a badly depleted roster. I was pleased with the linebacker play given that our fifth sixth and seventh LBs at the beginning of the season were starting. (Odell, Pollack, BSim, Jeanty)The Bengals simply must find a way to stay in it until we get some of these players back. These next two home games are critical and at least a split is essential. I expect by the time we go to Baltimore we'll be back to something resembling full strength and we will need to go on a run at that point.Remember, the season ends with @IND, @DEN, PITT! Yikes!
