Stripes
I don't like the thought of Moss playing in black and yellow at all. He'd turn Ben into the former Culpepper.

This would be bad for us and it's still early enough for them to turn the season around.
HoosierCat
Ah, good ol' PFT...STEELERS INTERESTED IN PORTER, MOSSA league source tells us that the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in trading for Raiders receivers Jerry Porter and Randy Moss. We're told that the Steelers prefer Porter, primarily because he would come with a lower salary and less of a media circus.Due to a contract that was heavy on bonus money, Porter's salary is only $1 million per year through 2009. Published reports indicate that the Raiders want Porter to refund $4 million of his eight-figure million signing bonus in exchange for his freedom.Moss is signed through 2008, at salaries of $9.75 million and $11.25 million in each of the next two seasons.Per the source, the Steelers believe that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's poor start has more to do with a less-than-impressive receiving corps than his June 12 trampoline routine off of a Chrysler. Hines Ward has a bad hamstring, Santurdio is inexperienced, Nate Washington is still growing into his role, and Cedrick Wilson is regarded within the building as soft.So can a trade go down by the league's October 17 deadline? A lot would have to happen. But with the Steelers interested in either guy, they might be in the best position to get one of them. And although the prevailing thinking is that any deal would involve one or more draft picks flowing out of Pittsburgh, we wouldn't be surprised to hear the name "Joey Porter" arise in any eventual trade talks. Porter has been unhappy with his salary, and there's a growing school of thought that Porter's desire to get paid has prompted him to abandon any genuine efforts to be a team leader."Per the source, the Steelers believe that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's poor start has more to do with a less-than-impressive receiving corps" :lmao: YA THINK?!?!?!Yeah, letting Plaxico and then Randel El walk in consecutive seasons was such a good idea . Shoot, Rooney, didn't Mikey teach you anything? You have to spend to at least keep your own talent!

SteelerFan87
Does anyone have a link? I haven't heard anything about this. I really doubt the Steelers would ever take a guy like Randy Moss. I mean, people thought Plaxico had a bad attitude, and he's nothing like Moss. Porter, I could possibly see, though. But trading Joey Porter? Now way. They have yet to find and start grooming a replacement for Joey, so they wouldn't trade him now. And as for his contract being a problem, it isn't. I don't know where this article got that idea. It hasn't been a problem, and he certainly hasn't stopped being a leader.

Edogger
Rumor or not, this would turn Big Ben into the Culpepper of Old (I think someone mentioned this earlier), but he would also be a big distraction...a double edged sword, I guess! But who do you think they would get...I would go with Porter. Moss is still putting up numbers and has playing time. ANd I doubt the Raiders will give away someone that is actually playing for the team instead of watching.I bet it could go down soon...but I guess we would have to wait and see. Randy Moss's contract makes him very close to impossible to trade.

That's the dumbest thing about people talking about how Culpepper isn't recovered from injury - he sucked last year too.
AMC
Culpepper tanked without Moss, but Moss has tanked without Culpepper....Moss in Black and Gold is of no concern....I believe Rottenburger's probs run deeper. Like brain injury and overall overratedness.....

Like brain injury and overall overratedness.....In fairness to Moss, the Raiders have a head coach and offensive coordinator who last coached during the stone age, and his QB is either 1) Kerry Collins or 2) Andrew Walter. Not even Moss can turn that pretty. Porter wants the hell outta there too, and he's good. The Raiders are a story unto themselves. Re-hiring Art Shell was questionable given his abilities last time and time away from the game. Letting him hire the OC he did was just retarded. I think it is more of a less-then-impressive QB then a less-then-impressive WR corp.

I think it is more of a less-then-impressive QB then a less-then-impressive WR corp.I think he *really* misses Bettis. Parker isn't as effective without the rest/change of pace that Bettis brought. And with a less effective running game, WorthlessBurger is forced to throw from obvious passing downs, allowing defenses to tee off on him, knowing that he'll make enough bad decisions when pressed to lose the game.Really, any QB will look good when his stud D and RBs allow him to throw 15 times a game. Hell, Trent Dilfer looked OK (if not great) in 2000 as far as that goes.

The only reason his numbers are so low is because who is behind center throwing him the ball...Nobody that has the arm and accuracy to get it to him! And the fact that they are rarely in the red zone...
SteelerFan87
Yeah, letting Plaxico and then Randel El walk in consecutive seasons was such a good idea . Shoot, Rooney, didn't Mikey teach you anything? You have to spend to at least keep your own talent! Well what were the Steelers going to do? There was no way they were going to match what the Redskins were offering for Randle El.I think he *really* misses Bettis. Parker isn't as effective without the rest/change of pace that Bettis brought. And with a less effective running game, WorthlessBurger is forced to throw from obvious passing downs, allowing defenses to tee off on him, knowing that he'll make enough bad decisions when pressed to lose the game. It's not necessarily Bettis. The Steelers felt Staley would be ok in Bettis's role, but they haven't used him at all. They got Najeh Davenport, and have barely used him. And it's not even that Willie Parker has been struggling, because he hasn't. He got over 100 yards in the first game, and well over 100 against the Bengals. Now, against the Jaguars, sure, he got stuffed, but that will happen sometimes when you face a great, physical defense. And against the Chargers Parker was having decent success, but the Steelers just abandoned the run. I think that has been a problem this year, maybe being so desperate for offense that they totally abandon the run as soon as it runs into any problems, whereas in years past we would just keep running untill it started to work. I think the Steelers need to get Verron and Najeh more involved, as well as giving Parker alot of carries, so that Ben isn't forced to pass all the time and give defenses a chance to tee off on him (as you said), especially when he's struggling like he is now. Throwing 30+ times is not the way to help a struggling QB.
Ox
For some reason I'm thinking the cap hit alone would keep Mr. "Cash Money baby!" Moss out of Pittsburgh. But what do I know.
