Stripes
Hey, I'll make sure I tell the cops how unlucky I was when they catch me waving guns around in public and sharing my brews with minors!
TJJackson
waaaaapoor lil baby Chrissy works half the year for 10 times the average salary the average american makes doing something most of us can only dream about.I manage not to offer alcohol to minors. I manage to make sure I am not driving after drinking. I make sure I dont wave weapons at police officers. I manage do all of this despite having a lot less money and opportunity in life than poor lil baby Chrissy does.Mind you, I am not complaining about my life. I am saying this is what a responsible adult does, particularly when they have a career and-or family to protect and nurture. On the field? Incredible.Off the field? Pathetic, stupid, childish
ArmyBengal
Chris is not a trouble maker, although I do think that he has the worse luck possibleWorst luck possible ?? You mean he was unlucky when he got caught with a handgun, doing drugs, buying alcohol for minors, DUI, and other things ?? You sure it was unluck or was it STUPIDITY ?? Saying everyone else does it, does NOT make it ok for him to do it. Are we also expected to believe the old saying children use---> "Well, little Billy did it" (Sorry for the name use there Billy, but it is fitting) Henry is pathetic, as is Odell !!! I want to see them get help and right their personal ship, as I believe many here would like, but at the same time can't dismiss their actions either.Act like a f*cking adult and accept responsibility for your own actions...It doesn't matter where the f*ck you are from either, because they have been given EVERY opportunity in the world, so tell me another story...WHODEY !!!Was your father around growing up Army? Mine was, which is probably the reason I have such a good head on my shoulders. I'd be willing to bet Chad's was too Wendy. I really don't get the impression that Chris's dad was around growing up. Try to imagine what that would be like as a boy... Housh on the other hand had a really good role model, which helped him to get into college. When houshmandzadeh first came here to cincy he was just as bad as Henry, but he never got caught. It was regular to see Housh downtown at the Ritz on the weekends getting blitzed. Yes, my father was around, as was my mother. It was a great childhood and I give "most" of the credit to who I am today, to them. That being said, the other part of the "most" that I give credit to, is MYSELF for wanting things for myself in my life and to get those things, I had to be a responsible adult prior to the age of 18. I don't give a sh*t if he had his father, mother, or no one at all. If you have the opportunities in life Henry and Odell have now, and still manage to piss it all away, I call you a f*cking idiot !!! I have worked my ass off for 17 years now in the Army and haven't made excuses for sh*t when things didn't go right. I TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY ACTIONS and learned from my mistakes. I choose to be an adult. I wish they would do the same and it just baffles me how with all they have gotten, they still have excuses. IT'S F*CKING PATHETIC !!!WHODEY !!! Kirkendall
It's the woo-is-me mindset big Army. When people make choices it includes two roads. You can either wave a gun, or don't. You can buy beer for some kids, or you don't. You can puke out the side of the window with a drunk driving or you don't. Personally, I today make choices that could get me in trouble -- I know that. And I won't use my PAST (no father and mother liked the booze) nor my skin color as the reason for my actions.Sadly, when people do rather than don't, they rarely reflect to themselves as being problematic on what they got busted for. Here's the truth. Do bad things, get caught, you get busted. Don't like it? Who cares. It's the way it is. Wanna cry unfairness? Call agreen or Jason Whitlock. aaronburr
Housh had a rougher upbringing than Henry. Last I checked he is also black. When's the last time we've heard anything about him getting into trouble? He's matured. Henry hasn't yet. I'm not writing Henry off... but he's got to take a page out of Housh's book if he wants to continue playing.TJ is Persian, not black. And he didn't grow up with a father either. The story I heard was that his dad went back to Iran when TJ was little and was never heard from again. And if memory serves, TJ grew up in Barstow, which might just be the armpit of the country.EDIT: I didn't realize TJ was bi-racial --- half black, half Persion. My bad. aaronburr
... Housh on the other hand had a really good role model, which helped him to get into college. When houshmandzadeh first came here to cincy he was just as bad as Henry, but he never got caught. It was regular to see Housh downtown at the Ritz on the weekends getting blitzed.TJ and Chad both went to junior college first. Henry went directly to a Div. 1 school, right? So if you were going to compare our top 3 WR's on paper (using your criterea), Henry had the easiest path to success. Doesn't really back up your argument about race and an underclass upbringing. And TJ wasn't as bad as Henry because he didn't get caught. I don't think anybody here is really harping on Henry for getting drunk or smoking pot, it's for getting caught. We've all done things we shouldn't have, but the vast majority of us aren't stupid enough to get in trouble for them. Much less 4 times in a 6 month period. Most of us only need one close call to learn our lesson.P.S. I was raised by both parents, but if I weren't, and I was able to make something of my life, I'd resent the hell out of anybody who used their upbringing as an excuse for their bad acts. For Christ's sake, if you are going to make mistakes (and we all do) at least learn from what you did and try to get better about it, NOT WORSE !!!WHODEY !!! agreen_112
Jesus man, you guys really don't get it. This is Chris's life, and for you to say that he's not learning from his mistakes is just plain stupid. Let's look at the facts: He gets busted for possesion of Marijuana (same as Randy Moss, and dozens of other NFL players.) and hasn't had any problems with weed since. To me that means he's learned his lesson about smoking weed!!! So he switches over to enjoying alcohol on the weekends and gets a D.U.I. (again no different than hundreds of coaches and players). Then what do you know, he's with Odell and not driving drunk, I think he learned his lesson there also. Chris's 2 game suspension is bulls**t and I think the Bengals are being made into an example for the rest of the NFL just b/c of all the media attention recently. Trust me Chris has learned from his mistakes, it's proven!

While Henry has broken the penal code in an impressive variety of ways, he hasn't broken all the laws as of yet. Will he have to get arrested for murder before he learns that killing someone is wrong? Get arrested for robbing a bank at gun point before he learns you can't do that? Get arrested for shoplifting his jersey before learning that you are supposed to pay for stuff?Again, I love Henry's ability, but, come on. At some point, stupid is as stupid does. His first arrest for the expired tags and drugs-in-shoe SHOULD have been the wake-up call from which he would "learn his lesson". The rest of the idiocy just underscores a much deeper mental issue with him.Again, I, like most Bengals fans, hope he grows up and gets beyond this at some point, but I think he is just about on his last chance with ML and the NFL at this point... Your comparing Felonies to stupid little misdemeanors that he has already proven to us that he's learned from. No way will he ever rob a bank or shoot someone or be a theif. That's not the point being made. To say that Henry has to learn his lessons based on each individual mistake me makes is just stupid.I don't understand why you're standing so staunchly at his defense. All through the offseason I was one of the few keeping a cool head in regards to Henry's off-the-field-exploits, but now even I have grown weary of his moronic actions.Henry knows better already. He doesn't have any lessons left to learn. He isn't five years old. Any grown man is fully aware of what the masses will think of his actions, for good or for bad. His problem is that he knowingly puts himself in problematic situations and banks on the likelihood that he won't get caught.Well too many times now, he has. PMThor
agreen, how can you defend this guy?Henry was busted for breaking the law. He then broke the law again. Then again. Oh yeah and again. How about not breaking the law please? How hard is that? If I was busted one time, I know for sure that I would not put myself in any situation where I could get busted again. Especially considering that my career may be adversely affected by multiple arrests (I can lose my job for one arrest by the way). Look at it, Henry has cost himself tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars by being stupid. Blame his upbringing, his background, whatever you want. No one put him in those places with the drugs, alcohol, or weapon. He did it to himself and he did not learn from it.Now, why do you think Marvin sat him for the Pats game? Do you honestly think it was because of a "groin injury"? How about Marvin was sending him a message. One that he needs to learn. Before, Henry had all these off the field problems, and he didn't seem to learn a damn thing from them. So now he gets hit where it matters most to the pro athlete, on the field. Maybe he will learn from this decision now. Apparenly the court system doesn't seem to scare him, maybe the chance that he could jeopordize his career will. We will see. I want to see him do well, but I don't have confidence in him either. And his history hears me out on this too.
