The Brew Man
Guys, Im glad we have a confident bunch, but how do you make these comments after that ass whooping?"I don't know if we were too cocky or too confident, but I know this is a team that we should've beat. Hopefully, well get another shot at them. I know if we play our best football, we can beat them," Palmer said. T.J. Houshmandzadeh added, "They knew they couldn't stop us, but you need the team as a whole to succeed... There aren't any (defensive backs) on that team that can cover us." PMThor
I will put it this way. That was not the same Bengals team I have seen up to this far in the year.We came in flat, played sloppy, got silly penalties, didn't take advantage of penalties or field position, and basically played like crap in every way.I can't say if we should have won, because we got absolutely embarassed today. But I know we should have at least put up a better fight than I saw.Horrendous.And I damn hope that this team learned something today. redsfan2
I've seen games where we weren't really beaten as much as we just ran out of time. This wasn't one of those games. 38 and goin away to 13 and stalled. I guess we could do a poll or something ........ but I'm convinced that yeah ........ we pretty much lost this game .......... BADLY!Then again .... that's just me. It may have looked different to the guys on the field. NAH!
derekshank
You can make sense of the statement when you consider how the game went. Did the Bengals get an old-fashioned butt-whooping? Yes... but it didn't seem like the Pats were a superior team until the 4th quarter. It was the snowball effect. One bad thing produced another bad thing, and it kept going that way. Things got out of hand really fast. I know we can beat that team... but we've certainly got some kinks to work out over the bye week. I'm not ready to say the sky is falling... but I'll admit my pride is hurt pretty bad. We didn't look like a playoff team today, and we've got 2 full weeks to let it fester. Hopefully they'll come out against TB ready to prove that this performance was an anomaly.
ArmyBengal
Carson is right... We should have beaten the Pats today (on paper)...There is absolutely NO REASON we lose to the Pats outside of the fact, we just didn't want it as much. Our play was sloppy and they just looked very lethargic on the field. The offense couldn't put anything together and like I said earlier, I've never been so pissed at Carson for his inability to hold onto the ball. The o-line didn't help him in that matter, but d*mn, figure it out already !!!I've beat the hell out of our sh*tty defense enough... Wait a minute, NO I HAVEN'T !!! They looked like complete dogsh*t out there today and saw absoultely nothing to tell me they could overcome what happened today in the next two weeks. UNINSPIRED PLAY ALL AROUND !!! Getting ran the f*ck over all game was just ridiculous !!! Oh yeah, thanks for letting Corey run all over us and laugh all the way home, throwing the ball into the stands after his TD !!! Embarrassing !!!WHODEY !!!
derekshank
In fairness to the Bengals... as embarrassing a performance as that was... the Pats looked just as pathetic last Sunday night at home against Denver. The national media wrote them off... saying that the fire was gone, and that Brady was pissed at the ownership for letting Deion Branch go.Turns out... they just had a really bad game, and came out and showed everyone that they're not push-overs after all. We've got a bye week... but if there was one team I wouldn't want to be on... it's the Buccaneers in week 6. We're going to be fired up. DontPushMe
Sounds like the same crap they said after getting blown out at home by the steelers last year. Maybe one day they will start to take their own advice and stop overlooking super bowl teams.

Maybe one day they will start to take their own advice and stop overlooking super bowl teams. No kidding. I don't understand how a team can have a letdown against the freaking Patriots. I guess three Superbowls in the last five years wasn't enough to warrant their attention. I don't like Palmer's quote here. They got their asses kicked, and they should have. turningpoint
This game reminded me of the houston and Greee Bay games of last year....except we still won cause they were some s**tty teams.
Ox
I want these post game " Woulda coulda shoulda" type quotes to stop. Just own the loss, and move on. We got thoroughly slapped around today, and made too mainy stupid mistakes. Since when did Carson forget how to hold on to the ball? ***sigh***
KRUNKJUICE
I hate to say it but I saw this coming. Even though I wouldn't admit it to myself because I didn't want to believe it. I figured we would have lost last week, except that we wanted it more than the squeelers. Let's face it folks, our defense is only decent when totally healthy and we are not! We're on second and third string LB's, and we're missing our starting SS and replacing him with KK!!! Not to mention the offense with no Rich Brahm, who I now greatly appreciate, and Marvin Lewis' decision to sit Chris Henry came at a bad time (although I agree with the decision ). It allowed the Patriots to double cover Chad and TJ with no other weapons to worry about. I love Rudi but he's not a break away threat and he wasn't going to single handedly beat the Pat's. Chris Perry would've been nice to have this week. I think we just need to get healthy, and get Tory James off the field! But we'll be alright. cincy9275
talk is cheap and means nothing unless you can back it up . i am very upset at the whole team coaches and all for this one . through 3 quarters we were bad but in the 4th was a new level of bad just the plain out the worse football i have ever seen in the lewis era . i had to do a double take and make sure coslet and company were not on the sideline . i don't mind losing as long as we played with some effort and we came up a little short but to be just flat out embarrassed is very very unf**kingacceptable . if i was marvin i would have these guy in there at 5 in the morning work on basic fundamental til it was f**king dark . the offense and defense coaches would have a fire lite under their asses because they were totally out schemed . the pats knew every damn thing we did and just took it away . no adjustments by our guys at all ! are brat and bresh that f**king stupid . i mean these guys seem truly dumb sometimes . i got to go the more and more i think about the madder i get , get this s**t right marvin NOW!!!!!!!!! sturmunddrang
This loss is mostly due to the fact that the o-line just got completely outplayed. Yes, the defence looked horrible, but the offence should have been able to keep pace. The line is not giving Palmer any time to throw, and I assume it is due more to Ghiaciuc's inexperience, than anything else. The fact is is that this line is a lot better right now with Braham in there.

Runs some plays that get the ball out of there faster? And dammit, I hate to say it, but when they're teeing off like that on Palmer, would be nice to have the ability for a 60-yard screen. Tell Perry to get his dumb ass on the field.
membengal
I see better than I hear. Next time around, if they, perhaps, want to, ya know, tackle someone, and maybe convert the occasional third down, winning might be remotely possible. Yesterday's effort? They would have had trouble beating Temple.
CBin2k7
The Bengals are a weird team. They can go on the road and beat the best, but when they get home, they play like absolute crap.Marvin needs to get his boys ready to play at home alot better than this, it happens far too often. Tasher
4th Quarter! We have to PLAY 60 minutes, not 50. Now granted I would have liked to see more and better effort for the first 45 minutes, but 21-13 with the balance of the 4th still to play and even 24-13 is not insurmountable if you come out and play football. The collapse was in the 4th, which is uncharacteristic of Marvin's clubs (usually). jditty47
thats 6 or 7 straight home losses - including last years playoff lost to pittsburgh, vs teams with a winning record. that is absolutely unacceptable. most of our tough games for the rest of the year are at home. this doesnt boad well unless something is corrected. Probably yes although Brady is underrated if you can believe that. But NE is superior on both lines and that is where football is one. To be honest, I think Carson's comment is pretty ridiculous.
