Dadraftnick
While Odel bought it all upon himself with his first two screw ups and he was the one drinking and driving,I do give Crime Spree Henry and to a lesser degree McNeal(because he's a rookie) some of the blame.Marvin talked earlier in the year about these guys being their brothers keeper and making sure their teamates stayed out of trouble by doing things like, making sure that they didnt drink and drive ect.Maybe, Marvin needs to give the guys that were with someone that gets in trouble a fine so they will become their brothers keeper. All three knew they were going out to drink, all three of them knew that by the end of the night there was going to be none of them sober enough to drive. All three of them had plenty of money to pay for a cab, limo,or could have called someone sober enough to drive them home. While Thurman only had one game left on his suspension, which should have been plenty of incentive to either stay sober or get a driver,Henry, after being arrested several times in the pre season had just met with the comish begging him to be easy on him. While McNeal is a little less to blame because he's a rookie but,he just came off of the NFL rookie symposium where they pound it in their brains about these things and he just watched several of his teamates get arrested in the preseason.Odel reportedly said that he was driving because, he was the most sober of the three. The Bottom line is, Henry and McNeal should have been their brothers keeper and talked Thurman into a limo.Ultimately its Odel's fualt ,he is the one that gets suspended he has to pay the price. But ,all three owe it to to their teamates, the Bengals organization,Marvin Lewis, and the Bengals fans(the people that pay their salries) to stay out of trouble. As Marvin says is a privilage to play in the NFL not a right.Besides, the time to celebrate is after the Bengals win the Super Bowl. Anyway around, I don't really give a sh*t !!! This is an ongoing topic of character debates and I for one am sick of hearing it... 3-0 isn't a bad thing for all the said issues we have to deal with...WHODEY !!! princeton
while McNeal's probably going to get a second chance, he's not good enough to get a third. He's in the Askew categoryAs for Thurman, as I posted a few months back, you can never count on him to play a significant role ever again. His Stanley Wilson-profile is way too high. He can play on a team that already has starters at LB, but you should never count on himDitto for Henry. Henry is so good that he'll get a million chances. But a good team would never count on him to play above third wide, and also knows that it also needs a good fourth.

BengalByTheBay
Each of them bears responsibility for what they do. None of them bears responsibility for what somebody else does. If nothing else, it's not a real good idea to get into a car with somebody driving who can blow 0.17. However, since I can't say I haven't done similar things in the past when I was young and stupider, I won't throw stones. What I will say is that I never had the amount of money riding on it that these guys do. It was stupid when I did it and it's stupid when they do it now. agreen_112
The coach is responsible for his team, and his team's players. Its mostly Marvins fault for not cracking the whip on these guys a long time ago. Sometimes Marvin is way too conservative as a head coach. Don't get me wrong, I think he's briliant and wouldn't want anyone else as a head coach, but at some point the coach has to be held accountable for something. I know that Bill Cowher would've fixed this problem from the get go!

derekshank
. I know that Bill Cowher would've fixed this problem from the get go!Yep... he sure whipped Santonio Holmes into shape. He's only been arrested 3 times since the Steelers drafted him.A Coach can't control anyone. he can just say things like "He's not welcome here." Like he has with Odell. If that doesn't get through to the other guys... nothing will.

membengal
I am just trying to recover from trying to understand agreen's logic on this...is Marvin supposed to live in a 30 room mansion, so that all the unmarried players can bunk with him and he can keep tabs on them every minute? Walrus
Hey henry hasen't been arrested for few months success if you ask me I'll believe it when it's been "a few years".Also, I agree with the original post. These guys are on a team together. To a certain extent, they are responsible for each other -- definitely in a situation like this where they are all out together. I think Lewis should take disciplinary action on Henry and McNeal and I think he will.

jditty47
no one deserves the blame for driving, hes a dumbass. his reason was that they had more than him. CALL A f**kIN CAB OR LIMO OR SOMETHING. im glad hes done for the year, he better get his s**t together 100%, any more f**kups and hes done as a bengal. and theres another reason why i love simmons. Walrus
Have I been dreaming this wonderful 3-0 start, or are we really reeling at 1-2 and now we're looking for a place to point fingers? There's no excuse for behaving as Thurman and Henry have behaved. Not winning games. Not "everybody needs to blow off steam". They've been completely irresponsible. They don't need my approval as a fan for stuff that goes on in their personal lives. That's their business. But there's a point at which I can't ignore their wanton disregard for themselves and others. Henry is about one stagger away from losing his freedom because of it. If Marvin has any clout whatsoever he needs to do what he can to save these young guys from themselves (and taking others down with them). Yes, they're grown men who are supposed to be able to take responsibility for their own actions, but does anyone believe they really will or can? These guys are out of control. Maybe Marvin can help them. Maybe their mamas can help them. If not, God help them. However, since I can't say I haven't done similar things in the past when I was young and stupider, I won't throw stones.Great point. I doubt there is anyone here who hasn't driven a vehicle at least one time in their life when they shouldn't have due to being impaired. To stand back and take pious pot shots at these players is juvenile and immature. Too many hypocrites around here to be sure! that's a copout. If you are a grown man, you need to act like it by controlling yourself and behaving responsibly. I expect you and everyone posting here (everyone that's of age, that is) to have a designated driver or some other means of getting home safely. HairOnFire
Why blame Marvin? I blame Dubya. Dubya set a poor example for our nations youth by indulging in cocaine, weed, and any other drug you care to name until his early 40's. The end result is on display for everyone to see. Incredible wealth. The most powerful job in the world. Worldwide fame. Rides on a helicopter whenever he wants one. All Odell has to do is find Jesus and it's all good.
