jditty47
tidbit from a article on bengals.com:Lewis also had encouraging news on running back Chris Perry (ankle), eligible to return to practice after the Tampa game. Lewis said it looks like Perry won't need to be shelved long before he gets into a game. "He continues to work hard and is back to doing some of the football reactive type work that I think he was a little bit apprehensive about doing at the start," Lewis said. "He feels a lot better about that. I think we’ll have the opportunity to move him to the 53-man roster pretty early in that process." hes going to be just the boost we need on offense at that time for the stretch run. jackson will be back on defense as well, so all should be good for us to push for homefield advantage. all of you perry haters will be eating crow soon enough. BigBenBlows
Watson has been doing a good job filling the 2nd spot at RB. Two carry Perry is a good reciever out of the back field but right now I would stick with Rudi and Kenny. Just my opinion.
BengalChamps
BIG QUESTION! Who gets dumped when Chris Perry returns? Maybe Reggie. After this week most likely Reggie. Anyway does it matter when Chris Perry returns. Most of the tread on his tires were used up by Loyd Carr already. He had way too many 30 and 40 carry games for them. Stripes
Perry might not be a first round caliber producer out there, but he is still a valuable asset when healthy. I'm glad to hear he'll be ready to roll when expected, and he'll only make the offense better.
ArmyBengal
It's hard to say, you don't want him out there... Is Watson filling in ok ?? Yes, but I honestly believe C. Perry is a better player. We can argue all we want about how many carries he got at Meatchicken, but there are plenty of players that run a ton in college and then do the same in the NFL. I personally don't see that as the main cause for his issues. Me thinks it's vaginitis !!!WHODEY !!!
BlainThePain
While I am a Watson fan, I can't wait for Perry to come back. Perry would have been in on some of those passes on 1st and 2nd down that turned into sacks. With him in there, Carson would have dumped the ball off to him and he could have turned them into first downs instead of sacks.
BengalszoneBilly
I honestly believe C. Perry is a better player.Maybe. Chris "Minimal Carries" Perry obviously needs to get better at staying off the injured reserve/unable to perform list. The fact remains that as a #1 draft pick, he hasn't proven a damn thing, nor has he earned a fraction of his huge salary. If there was ever a time for him to step up and start feeding me, along with thousands of his other detractors a big plate of crow to eat, now would be it. The "Bust Bus" is waiting to pick him up for departure out of town at the end of this season if he doesn't.As far as Kenny Watson, Kudo's to the man! He's done a hell of a job. A true value player! I'm against that move. Why? Seriously, we've had Wilson for a couple years now, and he hasnt gotten himself activated even with Perry injured. When is he ever going to get out there? He has no future here. As for Perry, i still know that hes the most talented RB we have, and im excited about his return. People who continually insult him just prove their stupidity every time. That is why I'm against it. As long as Rudi is healthy, he is fairly unecessary... but that is what back-ups are for. Not to be activated every week, but to be there in the event of an injury. Stripes
Yeah, if Rudi goes down I won't want any part of Perry and his probable 3.2 yards per carry. He's a poor man's Brian Westbrook, and I wouldn't want him starting either. Wilson provides valuable depth, but I think he'd clear waivers and make it back to the practice squad. I think that's more likely for Wilson. I obviously could be wrong, but there's no telling before it actually happens.Hey, do you guys wonder about Jeremi Johnson? Kirkendall
I think it's just a formation thing... Kelly has also seemed more a target in the passing game than in years past. I'm sure everything's just peachy keen with JJ.I would normally agree TD. But he's blocking rather than going into routes. I know he's a great blocker and he's one of the reasons why Rudi has broken the single-season rushing record the past two seasons. But we just opened the bank to Jeremi and it seems he's not getting the PT we thought he would (well, at least I thought he would). Yeah, if Rudi goes down I won't want any part of Perry and his probable 3.2 yards per carry. He's a poor man's Brian Westbrook, and I wouldn't want him starting either. I think running backs, in today's game, is one position you could consider a "dime a dozen". Of course, I'm not referring to elite running backs, but you can find quality depth each season. Just MHO. Just MHO.You'd be right if your talking about the draft. There are a ton of examples of 5th and 6th round picks that have made larger impacts than 1st rounders. However, once the season starts, RB is one of the positions that takes the biggest pounding, and therefore depth is more necessary there becuase injuries are so common.Just look around the league. Wilson is a pounder... and this is what many teams are looking for. This is why Najeh Davenport despite his injury history was picked off the waiver wire the moment he was available... by, Pittsburgh! Everyone wants that kind of RB. Wilson will be claimed off the PS if he is sent there.

Can you imagine trying to cover all the talent at the same time....Rudi, Perry, Chad, TJ, Henry. Granted they won't ALL be on the field at the same time but what a mix! Too bad we don't have a top TE game.

derekshank
So our physical precense would be a guy who isnt good enough to make an NFL roster? What the hell are you talking about? He is good enough to make an NFL roster. That's my point. He's currently on the Bengals roster. The Bengals have a top 2 offense. They dropped DeDe Dorsey and decided to keep Wilson... and Dorsey was promptly picked up by the Colts... the other team with a top 2 offense. My whole point is that if we let another team have a chance at Wilson, they'll take him. And he would probably get playing time with a decent number of teams. Did you watch any of the pre-season? Rudi only played a handful of downs... and Wilson promptly went into the game, and looked just as strong as Rudi... so yes... he'd be our physical presence. He'd do the job just fine. After Rudi, we have no other RB on the team, including Chris Perry, who is able to be that presence.
