agreen_112
He is man! He's more happy that he was right than anything. You know what though, after thinking about this a little more, it can't be over. Where the f**k you at Marvin? He's still yours, your not sticking to your word, I don't see any protection by hanging OT out to dry like that by saying the 1 year suspension was pretty much 100% going to happen. I know that the NFLPA is going to step in here, he hasn't even been convicted yet, it's an outrage!
membengal
You continue to miss the point, agreen. It's what we have all been trying to tell you. At that point in the program, when you are in the middle of a four-game suspension for running afoul of the substance abuse policy already, you don't need to be convicted. The standard for getting the one-year suspension is WAY below conviction.
stilldiesel
You guys beat us last week without him. Bottom line is you will probably need to win higher scoring games against the better teams as this is a blow to your run defense.

agreen_112
This is a huge blow! Even greater now that Pollack is out for the season too. Our other LB's are scrubs, so we better start to get Brooks or a Free Agent up to par with the rest of the League. what I mean is that Jeanty or miller or azzier wouldn't start on any other team in the league. His absence doesn't affect them in the least. Pollack's absence hurts. Thurman's? Not so much. Comfort yourself with something else.

stilldiesel
Trust me, I won't be comforted until I see Ben and Hines back to their old selves. I am just saying that Odell's return would have been a shot in the arm to your run defense. Obviously, you guys can win higher scoring games it's just that a stud middle LB can help stiffle a good rushing attack.

I am just saying that Odell's return would have been a shot in the arm to your run defense. Obviously, you guys can win higher scoring games it's just that a stud middle LB can help stiffle a good rushing attack. In game one, this team shut down Larry Johnson. In game 2, this team held Cleveland to 26 yards on the ground. Now, the Steelers did a great job with cutback runs and gaining yardage on the ground, but that leaves us with three games of sample size, and wildly divergent results. Personally? I have been pleased as hell with the run D, and tip my cap to the Steelers for what they got done last week. But Brian Simmons has been better at MLB already than Thurman was at any point last year against the run, so I don't see it as a concern. What hurt the Bengals last week against the run (other than Pittsburgh knows exactly how to attack them)? Not have Dexter Jackson at S. He is a strong run support person, and his absence was felt. He will be back after the bye. Which is good, they need him. But, Thurman's absence really doesn't affect the run D at all. Again, Marvin Lewis has been planning for this season without Odell since at least March. They are ready for this...
agreen_112
No. What hurt the Bengals on the run was Johnson inability to make a freaking tackle on that cutback. I can deal with Simmons, Odell, and Johnson but Simmons, Johnson, and ? is pretty damn scarey.
TJJackson
Damn T.J. You almost sound happy about this. You can't be bro... Im not happy about it...I want him on the field in his DROY candidate form as much as anyone....but it is what it is
richmond_mat
The Bengals' have more long term injuries than any team I've ever seen in my life - they really need to change the way they do some things - no team's players get injured this often and in such abundance - predominately it happens in practice too. While I agree that there are a lot of injured players, it has never been a problem with this coaching staff before. All injuries are football related, except of course the mental illness exhibited by Odell. This smells like a strong warning to Henry too. I didn't expect such a quick and stern decision by the league.

Kazkal
I'm done with subject inless odell gets cut ill have hope for him and even if we did cut him I'd still probbley follow him I like entertaining LB's (urlacher is a stud )
agreen_112
That's our luck too. I'm just going to start preparing for some kind of trouble to come Henry's way too. They don't want to see the Bengals succeed, stripping 2 of our youngest, most talented players from the team.

derekshank
who the heck is "they", agreen?What... you didn't hear? There's a conspiricy in which Roger Goodell and Joey Porter force fed Odell all that alcohol, and told him if he didn't get caught driving, they would sick Porter's dogs on his girlfriend. agreen_112
Everyone; that fatass cop, kenton county, covington, florida, the f**kers who won't let Rose into the hall of fame but let Barry and Mcguire shoot up the sauce, ect. ect. ect.... PMThor
Hmm, I wonder if Marvin is going to cut him. Can he do that anyway? Methinks this may change up our draft next year too.The NFL gave Odell just enough rope to hang himself. He did too. Now, does anyone think that Odell won't somehow, someway avoid a lifetime ban for yet another screwup? Not me, and I hate saying that, because I was a huge Thurman fan. Now what am I going to do with that signed orange Thurman jersey?
BengalByTheBay
This is one time I would have much rather been wrong, but the signs have been unmistakable. It's a sad day as far as I'm concerned. However, as ML said earlier in the preseason, he has not been a member of this team and we are 3-0. We are a good team. I'm not sure how long I will feel anxious about Henry, but all that aside, we can win games with the team we have.
