Wisk
Howdy all. Been out most of the weekend without web acess, but with free NFL Ticket, so it kinda balances out. Haven't read the game thread yet so here's my thoughts on the game:1. Lucky, lucky, lucky Carson. He ought to be ordering those little church votive candles by the boatload because he just sucked for long portions of the day. His decision-making was the worst I have *ever* seen. Throwing into double and triple coverages, asking his recievers to go up and catch stuff they will get killed coming down with, holding the ball way, way, way too long. That isnt to say he didnt make some nice plays -- I loved the scramble -- but he was trying to do way to much today.2. I love Brat's playcalling today. Mostly. I could nitpick but overall Phil Simms nailed it in his comments in the 3rd about how patient the Bengals were. They did not panic, they did not get pass haoppy, they did not abandon the run in a close game.3. All the K2 haters are officially ordered to STFU for a week. 3a. I love this D. They were shaky early but came on as the game proceded. In he fourth they were hitting like...well...Pittsburgh Steelers. Busting up completions, knocking away passes, getting turnovers, I love it.3b. Yeah he should have had the pick but we scored anyhow so all the Justin Smith haters can STFU for the week, too. 4. Pretty good job by the o-line. Carson got sacked a lot, yeah, but he was holding the ball way too long. If its not there dump it off or toss it out of bounds, you know LeBeau is going to send the kitchen sink so you just *can't* stand around with the ball, Palmer.5. Two letters: T. J. 6. If Henry can stay out of jail he'll be better than Chad Johnson. Yes, I said "better."7. On D, props out to Jeanty, K2, Joseph and Madieu.8. All the John Thornton haters can STFU for a week, too. How do you spell Thornton? B-L-O-C-K.Anyhow, that's all I can come up with off the top of my head. Now excuse me but my beer is empty... Nice post Hoosier!Hell! I'd like to BUY you the next cold one!Right now....I'm so freaking ecstatic...I'd buy the WHOLE BZone a round!
BlainThePain
I'd like to point out that Geathers already has a career high in sacks this season.
The Brew Man
One thing that is amazing about today is the Bengals actually got alot of breaks and pulled it out. Is seemed to go in quarters, the first was Pitt, second was Cincys and the third was Pitt and fourth was ours. Was the wind that bad? HoosierCat
Nice post Hoosier!Hell! Love it when we win...maybe 'cause I'm still getting over all those Nineties loses! I'd like to point out that Geathers already has a career high in sacks this season.Good point. Props to "June Bug" Between him and Rashad...hell, who needs Pollack anyhow?
membengal
Holding my breath, but if this team can get by NE and get to the bye 4-0, while it does face a tough stretch schedule-wise, they can look forward to the returns of Braham, D-Jax, Tab Perry, Chris Perry (potentially) and the return of Odell Thurman.Oh, and Palmer is NOT 100% yet, buy his own admission, and certainly still not totally in sync. But he will be. Oh, he will be.Point is, this team is 3-0 and not nearly as good as it is going to be.Other random thoughts still running through my happy head:1. Echo others, Jonathan Joseph (a pick I have always love from the much maligned "worst draft ever" that is actually already one of the Bengals' "better drafts ever") is already playing huge. This D, when he takes over for Tory and makes Tory the nickel is going to be fun to watch.2. Kenny Watson has been a quiet star on this team through three games. Unlike others, I miss Chris Perry. But Watson has done a great job replacing him and minimizing the impact of his loss.3. Good point above on Larson's punt driving Colclough back. Bengals won the special teams game against Pittsburgh, something that was infrequent in years past, obviously.4. Joey Porter was nothing, absolutely nothing. Hysterical.5. Glad that KK made the last pick, but his run support continues to be less than wonderful at S. D-Jax had begun to really fix that. They missed him today on a ton of those Parker cut-back runs. Badly.Feels so damn good to be 3-0. It really does.
Kazkal
Brat still needs to learn that when you have a 10 point lead in the fourth quarter, you dont drop back to pass and allow the other team to have another gift turnover. Three turnovers on 3rd and short today and all of them came when they were trying to pass.Um we ran it 3 times, though I woulden't have minded a pass on 3rd down sense the steelers had 3 time outs and you want a 1st down more then them having 1 timeout. aaronburr
Winning ugly is making fans at ESPN....Clayton says the Bengals are #2 in the AFC, Sean Salisbury says the Bengals are #1 in the AFC and #1 in the NFL...all based on the fact that they found a way to win ugly.Of course, we only care about these guys' opinions when we agree with them, but still, not too shabby. HoTbOy
I think the O-line needs some work, maybe cause RBraham was not in but still 6 sacks...the run D still seems to be a work in progress...TJames maybe be replaced by JJoseph sooner rather than later...D gave Steelers some good licks, this game should make NFL Replay on NFLN...CHenry is a BEAST...RJohnson needs to stop running up linemans back and make a cutback...None the less we are 3-0 and that makes winning ugly, look very pretty... Sportsdoc
Sometimes the d line looked good, sometimes awful...K2, although not the most gifted, hustles and is good at playing the ball in front of him. But we need Dex backJoseph over James now.... Tory looked hideous on that first drive... JJ is a stud alreadyI am still sick about the money we just spent for our to O-tackles if that is all they can do... could we fire Paul ALexander... I don't see any teams offering to steal him from us.... I think he might do well running a bed and breakfast....Would like to see CPerry back. And I hope Chris BLuntman does not get suspended soon.Phil SIms sounds like an idiot............. cincy9275
i think our poise was huge last season we would have lost this game and no matter how bleak the game looked at times we never lost our poise today very impressive . The Brew Man
I know I cant remember the last time I saw the Bengals block a field goal, they did today, by Thorton. Who is having a great year so far.

jditty47
us getting the wind with us in the 4th quarter won us the game. 1st and 3rd quarter we were against the wind, we didnt score. 2nd and 4th...with it, and we scored all of our points. The fumbled punt wouldnt have happened if we didnt have the wind.
Stripes
The run defense doesn't impress me. The Steelers o-line may have just played out of their minds, but until Peko came in late in the game, they were getting dominated up front.Hopefully Dexter's return can help patch that up. We're not going to face many other good running teams this year anyways... Atlanta and San Diego come to mind, but I like our chances against them with favorable matchups on the line.We still look like an obvious Superbowl contender regardless. Kick ass.
