agreen_112 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Our Te's had a big role in the offense last week too, but who will surprise us against the divisional rivals? I'm going to say it'll be Keiwan Ratliff. He's due for a huge special teams play, and also a big interception on Defense. It's just a matter of time before he breaks one loose for a huge gain if not a TD on a punt return.Who's going to be returning the kickoffs, just wondering? Quote
TJJackson Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'm going with Kilmer. With Tab out, he'll step up in some big way. Quote
BengalByTheBay Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'm gonna go with Caleb Miller on this one. I think they're going to need him to try to counter the speed of Parker who will probably try to get to the edge, not to mention the fact that they're one LB short. Yeah, it's Miller time. Time to earn your paycheck and raise some eyebrows Caleb. Quote
duus Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Gonna sound a bit silly, but I think Graham (critical fieldgoals at good distance) and Robinson on defense (just a feeling). Quote
schweinhart Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Let's see here...K-Dub won't have the illustrious Ralph Brown trying to cover him in the slot and will most likely draw McFadden there rather than Coclough, so I'd be surprised if K-Dub does put up what he did last week. And I'm doubting he does.Brat probably took enough heed with Reggie Kelly's stonehand ricochet INT that he'll probably be more than a little gun shy vs. the Steelers to try that course again, So doubt it's the TEs.Rudi will probably get his but it will be the usual workmanlike Rudi rather than the off-to-the-races Rudi that seems to always be the case with the Clowns.Chad might get a ringer or 2 but will most likely be counted on for quick slants and 15 yard outs. Same for Henry with a little more route running over the deeper middle. Hopefully Housh plays because he probably will get the ball a lot.So who's left to surprise on offense. Bluto eats Casey Hampton alive? Doubt it but he'll probably do fine with some double help now and again.So......it's got to be Kenny Watson He knows how often he was wide open last week and after watching the game tape Carson probably knows it too. I'll say Watson will be the Bengals leading receiver this week in catches with 7 and garner about 80 yards with 1 TD. Plus he'll convince McNeal to follow his lead block through the middle lane on KOs, which Tab doesn't like to do much, and help spring McNeal for 1 long gainer. Quote
CBin2k7 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I put in another vote for Kenny Watson, but not only for his receiving, his blocking will be huge in this game. His value as blitz pickup is highly underrated and against the Steelers, it is his best chance to shine and give Carson a chance to pick up crucial 3rd down conversions. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Having Housh healthy is key, because they don't have 3 great corners. And if they put the s**tty one on Henry, you might see some more 30 yard passes to him. If they keep people back to honor the deep threat, Housh will kill them all day long.Without Housh, they'll take their chances with KW. Quote
derekshank Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Rudi will probably get his but it will be the usual workmanlike Rudi rather than the off-to-the-races Rudi that seems to always be the case with the Clowns.I don't know what you mean about the "off-to-the races Rudi" against Cleveland. He was pretty much the same Rudi that goes against the Steelers. The difference between the Browns and Steelers is that Rudi usually gets a ton of garbage time yards running down the clock in the 4th quarter, whereas against the Steelers we don't usually have a 3 score lead.If you go look at the 2 regular season games against Pittsburgh last year, you'll see what I mean. Rudi consistently rips the Steelers defense for 8-10 yard gains... just like he does against Cleveland. I think he just runs well against the 3-4 defense... because those 9 yard gains are commonplace against both teams.Oh, also... Housh usually tears their hearts out on 15-20 yard receptions on 3rd down. I love watching Housh and Rudi play against the Steelers. Quote
Kazkal Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Speaking of Kdub we need a squirrel video of when he did it last week I'm gonna go with Caleb Miller on this one. I think they're going to need him to try to counter the speed of Parker who will probably try to get to the edge, not to mention the fact that they're one LB short. Yeah, it's Miller time. Time to earn your paycheck and raise some eyebrows Caleb. Also someone to cover health miller so no big 73 yard TD's Quote
bengalboomer7 Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I'm gonna vote for Capt. Obvious, Carson Palmer. This is the game that fueled his rehab, the game he privately had circled since last jan. While more than competent, Carson has yet to have a lights out game thus far, and here's where it happens. Palmer = 24-34 322yards 4Td Quote

You give me those numbers in Pissburgh, and I not only have a victory for the good guys, but also a week of moping Steeler fans! Now that's living! Quote
Kazkal Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I really don't see raliff having a big day he's not even the dime corner now no? as for returning punts I hope they put mcneal back there see what he can do. Quote
HairOnFire Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Please forgive me for approaching this weeks "Whos gonna surprise?" thread from deep left field, but I've got my reasons. Namely, I picked Pollack last week and he was lost for the year asfter just two plays. This weeks surprise? Joey Porter. Quote

HoosierCat Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 TE Stacy Andrews. 1 reception, 6 yards, TD. Quote
aaronburr Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 TE Stacy Andrews. 1 reception, 6 yards, TD.Now that's left field.Watch that montage of Rudi on YouTube.com, and realize that most of those runs were with a bad knee, I'm thinking the man's going to rip several runs in the 15-20 yard range. Quote
Stripes Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I fully expect a hundred yards from Rudi in this one. I also think Carson has a great shot at a huge game. The offense is entirely primed for an explosion. So my surprise is on defense... I'll go with Robert Geathers. The Steelers have been inconsistent in pass protection, and I think Jumpy Jr. could make a big impact when he's brought out fresh against a tired and all around overrated Steelers front. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 We need to start including in these threads not only the "Suprise" player, but who do you think is just going to have a big game in general...With that being said, I think McNeal would qualify for the "suprise" player with Tab being out and Marvin saying he'll be returning kickoffs. For the guy who's going to have a big game in general, Chris Henry baby !!!WHODEY !!! Quote
