HairOnFire
MVP: Carson Palmer - With him the Bengals are Super Bowl contenders. Without him they're a dangerous curiosity.Offensive MVP: Rudi Johnson - Picture the offense without him. 'Nuff said.Defensive MVP: Deltha O'Neal - Until things change he wins by default.Biggest Surprise: Dexter Jackson - Coupled with the return of MW the Bengals saftey corp should become a high impact position of team strength.Biggest Letdown: Fat Sam - The biggest so-called signing in Cincy free agent history waddles his way through a mediocre season before tragically suffering a stroke while on the toilet. Most Improved: David Pollack - I think he picks up from where he ended last season, and in the process makes people remember why he was considered a better Bulldawg than Odell.Breakout Player: Antonio Chapman - He's perfectly suited for the slot and the punt return roles. Most Underrated: It's got to be Rudi. Most Overrated: Chris Perry - He'll be placed on IR after running full speed into Rudi's shadow.Best Rookie: James Joseph - See below.First Player to Lose His Starting Spot: Tory James - Maybe I'm serious OR maybe I just like to make Biggie howl. Either way, this is my vote.Surprise Cut: Stacy the Dancing Bear - You're suprised, right?Pro Bowl Players: Carson Palmer, Levi Jones, Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson, Willie Anderson

Kirkendall
"takes the joint away""hate you" I don't think he's over-rated based off his expectations for being a first round pick. In fact, you could make an argument that someone like Smith drafted as high with similiar results, is very common in the NFL. So, I agree, expectations might have been way too big therefore causing people to suggest he's over-rated or disappointed. I think he's over-rated simply because of his play (whether he's a 7th round pick, undrafted, or whatever). Consider this. I don't have my notebooks with me so you're not getting any numbers, but on plays in which Smith made a play, the opposing offense gained a substantial amount of yards -- ranked among the NFL in the lower third. For someone that's started this long, with his experience, doing average at best work a backup could do, to me, is over-rated.
