Lets all take a step back...

Recommended Posts

Over the past 6 months... I've watched the NFL Game of the Week, Week 13 show several times. I have it downloaded to my computer... I watch it over, and over again...

I love watching Palmer schread that D... Rudi running over Troy... And TJ just being TJ.

But, Over the past 6 months we've seen:

1) Palmer hurt his knee.

2) Cheech Herny be arrested 4 times.

3) Some questional draft picks.

4) Odell violate the policy

5) Odds and Ends of bad things....

But - A few things to point out....

1) Palmer is going to be OK. He'll be back... I promise... It might be after the bye week.. it might be week 1. Right now.. We dont' know.. But he'll be back.. and back to throwing those long deep bombs to chad and tj.

2) Henry? While he was a huge pick up for our 3rd WR. He wasn't a starter... He was a rookie coming in to player on certain plays... We can move on... We have other options till he gets his life strightend out.

3) While Odell was HUGE last season.. He is only gone for 4 games... Simmons/Johnson will be able to fill his role untill then.

So out of this offseason we've lost 2 starters.. 1 for 4 games.. and another one maybe 4 games.. Who Knows...

Also... Don't forget... We dropped that SS that was horrible... And we added a Super Bowl Champ in Dexter Jackson... We added a large person into the center of our D-Line in Sam Adams and we have a healthly M. Williams coming back.

Right Now, We are going through a tough time... In the end.. We will be just fine... I Love this team... I love the city...

I can't wait for pre-season and the regular season to start... I can't wait to see Palmer lace up his shoes and put the pads on to go out onto that field and tear apart D's again... And to watch Rudi do his thing.. Running over line backers and being a very under rated back...

Keep your heads up guys... We are in for another good season.

 Here is to another winning season... and play off bound Cincinnati Bengals.

just a few questions for you, bub

1) are we better off if Palmer didn't get hurt, led us to our first superbowl win, and was healthy for this season?

2) are we better off if Cheech's misadventures don't force us to draft WRs we otherwise wouldn't have even considered?

3) are we better off with Odell in the starting lineup for the first 4 games?

4) Are we better off if Askew wasnt tased?

Ok, wait....ignore item 4, we probably are better off without his lazy ass on the bench......you think we'd be better off? You admit that these things hurt the team? Yeah, I thought so.

1) For this season? No. Sorry. It starts anew each season, and that ring would be more likely to make people lazier than play harder to do it this year. Also, you assume we even win the Pissburg game yet alone the Super Bowl if Palmer and Henry don't go down on a very early play.

2) I don't think Henry is the reason for our draft picks. I think they are there because other guys were leaving, and 3 WRs aren't enough. I also think they were drafted/signed more for special teams reasons than to catch the ball.

3) Maybe a little, but we have the depth at ILB to be able to handle him being out.

4) NO! Maybe Askew should be tased every week before each practice.

Unfortunately, I keep hearing that Odell is getting cut. Word is he's on crystal meth and is gone. Too much money and the invincibility complex and doing in too many of these kids. Anybody think we'll draft nothing but choir boys next year??

I ask again for anyone who knows something about Odell to please post a link. I for one get tired of all the specualtion. He's on meth huh ?? How about a link ?? He's gone for the season ?? How about a link ?? Odell getting cut ?? How about a link ?? Please stop with all the guessing or what you heard from your best friends, mother's, mechanic who happens to know "Whodey" the mascot, who said whatever...

As for choir boys next year, I think they will draft what they believe is the best thing for this team and I (as a fan) will continue to support the organization regardless.

R-U-D-I, this isn't aimed directly at you (nothing personal), but to everyone who continues to specualte without knowing. This does nothing but stir sh*t up and continues the relentless whining we have seen here lately...

WHODEY !!!

Have you ever seen someone on meth? They are usually a shade under 90 lbs. I very much doubt that he's on meth. Pot wouldn't surprise me at all, so I'd be surprised if he's cut. He just needs to mature. It's one of the bigger problems this offseason - but it isn't beyond solving.

Anyone seen Odell since January? No links, sorry. Just curious. Bottom line, I hope like mad that it's all a bunch of bunk, but it's getting harder to not want to believe the rumor mill these days.

No matter what happens, it's also getting hard to believe that this off season isn't going to have a negative effect?

I just don't get this attitude. If what you're trying to say is that it's not all care bears and lollipops right now then okay. As for "are we better off than if we had won teh superbowl" -- no. We're also not better off than if it had rained $100 bills for 24 hours. What is your issue man? It is what it is -- if you hate this all so much why do you spend so much time writing messages about it. If you're just into being a grumpy dude then, okay at least I can understand that. Are you just trying to be the anti-Spain?

How is this a valid question? Sure, that would have been swell, but if you're going to stomp your boot all over your favorite team, then you need a better reason than "we didn't win the Superbowl."

2) are we better off if Cheech's misadventures don't force us to draft WRs we otherwise wouldn't have even considered?

That is pointless speculation. I'll speculate with complete honesty that we would have drafted receivers without Henry's offseason.

3) are we better off with Odell in the starting lineup for the first 4 games?

Certainly, and there is the one real noteable negative I can find from an otherwise awesome offseason.

Looking at the Bengals here on the verge of camp, I find myself agreeing with a sentiment recently expressed by the DDN's Chick Ludwig: there will be nothing "mediocre" about the Bengals this season. Either they win 10-12 games...or they lose 10-12 games.

I'd be more willing to bet on us winning 10-12 rather than us losing 10-12...

WHODEY !!!

Only one good thing could come of us losing 10-12 games. The bandwagon fans would jump off the top of the purple people bridge, and we would finally have REAL fans behind the team!

Oh, and a good draft pick.

I'm not ready to give odds either way yet. Too many question marks at QB, LB, and on the d-line. Not to mention all the peripheral crap. Would like to see them get some rooks signed (tho I know CBA questions have made signings slow everywhere this year so I'm not blaming the front office).

No, really you took what I said and blew it out of the water. If do you readings around here and other sports sites about the Bengals and its like the field burnt down and we have to play all our games in Pittsburgh with all Pittsburgh fans there waving their towls the whole game.

The Bengals are done.. They Mise well not play...

Here is the deal.

1) Palmer is hurt... But is coming back...

a) We have Rudi.

2) From what is being reported, Odell is out for 4 games. That is it. Will JOhnson and Simmions there is going to be a drop is production. But, nothing HUGE.

And with everything that else has happend this off season, it has affected the team - But he hasn't in a way.

Henery and Askew isn't a starter.

Rucker, Nicholson are rookies.

We added 3 peoples to our D and lost some horrible players.

1) We added a healthly M. Williams who was flat out awesome as a Rookie.

2) We added a good saftey in Jackson

3) We added a huge guy in Adams.

We did our upgrades.

If Marvin didn't take a chance on Nicholason and Rucker we wouldn't be overly worried about anything right now. Other then Odell.
