Ox
And the more "life long" fairweather fans we can have jump off the wagon, the better, and more room for folks who appreciate the state the orginazation is in. If he were a true fan of the Bengals, he would weather this offseason just like he did all the piss-poor seasons of old. I mean, give me a break. The sky is not falling, and you can't tell me the actions of 5 questionable guys are worthy of changing a teams overall appearance when the rest of the roster is full of quality players. Some people just need to quit freaking out when things aren't perfect. Isn't the role of a "fan" to support the organization through good times and bad? Kirkendall
Until I see changes in the drafting and team-building policies of the Cincinnati Bengals franchise, I will no longer be a fan. I can tolerate losing with dignity, and certainly winning with class, but I cannot handle winning with criminals.I've got a billion more reasons to be a Bengals fan than I do a level of shame from a few bad apples. Player4
I can't imagine being ashamed to be a Bengals fan. I'm as proud as I've been in a very long time. We've got a talented and exciting team. The legal and personal problems of the Bengal players doesn't bother me much...only to the extent that these problems result in suspensions. I kind of like that our Bengals have some maniac influence. It could make us more dangerous on the field...Every one of these problem Bengals are or could be outstanding players. It's all about the winning to me. It's the Bengals time ba-by. The past 2 years have been good and the next 3-4 years will be even better.WHO DEY

DC_Bengals_Fan
Ashamed to be a Bengals fanOne more jumps off the bandwagon. If you actually read the article, you'll see that he's not a bandwagon jumper, he's a life-long fan. Someone like many around here who stuck with them through the losing, only to be repulsed by the collection of felons that have been accumulated in Cincinnati. I don't think it's irrational, or somehow wrong, to refuse to support a group of felons. As has been pointed out quite well by others, this is *not* the leadership of the team. But if it becomes so, I'll be damned if I'll support a bunch of rapists.

ArmyBengal
Once again, I'm ashamed he ever called himself a Bengals fan. So you won't support a team because of the actions of about 5 (two of which were starters) ?? What the F*CK ever. Defend this guy all you want, then feel free to grab a tissue, a dress to wear, and go b*tch to someone else, because REAL Bengal fans support their team through the good and the bad...WHODEY !!! Dadraftnick
I was much more ashamed of the loosing than I am of the countless arrests and breaking of league rules.Just the thought of Dave Shula makes me sick. One thing is for sure, Bengals fans arent eating at the Shula Stake House, they wouln't be able to keep their food down. But, at what point does having soo many guys suspended start to put L's where W's should be?At what point does all of the press about the character issues and suspensions become a distraction? HoTbOy
I have been a Bengals fan since 74-75 and I will never jump ship to another team...I don't like what is going on this offseason with some of these players, but this is still MY team and the only 1 that I have ever rooted for...so if that person wants to leave, let 'em, but i'm not going anywhere.... membengal
I have been ashamed to be a Bengals fan before...but that was after 11 years of losing. This offseason? A walk in the park compared to a training camp battle between Gus Frerotte and Jon Kitna or between Scott Mitchell and Akili Smith.Shame I have known. This ain't it. andybren
I find it hard to believe that a so-called diehard fan of the team is giving up on them just because of a few bad apples. This is essentially what I wrote in my response to his blog. It's one thing to be upset, it's another to give up on your team over draft picks who haven't even made the team yet. And to listen to a 22 year-old bemoan the play of David Klingler? I'm 11 years older than that and can barely remember the guy.At best, it's an uninformed over-reaction. At worst, it's a poor attempt at Whitlock-style journalism. At least Whitlock's columns have some grounding in reality.

Seriously. Any tenured fan should agree with me on this.I think Imma change my handle to The curse of Bo Jackson or something......this type of s**t just doesn't happen to other teams, except for Carolina Panthers.I love the Bengals, but I'm tired of our team being dragged through the mud and having a stigma attached to our name. Jet23
It just AMAZES me that Marvin Lewis hasn't at least earned the benefit of the doubt. The people that are supposedly 'jumping off the bandwagon' were never really fans to begin with. Some guy called a local sports talk show last week proclaiming that whatever incident was the last straw. He was no longer a Bengal fan. As he went on with his babble, it turns out that his beef was not with the Bengals, but with sports in general. The truth is, he couldn't afford to attend pro sporting events any more, so somehow that translated into him no longer being a Bengal fan. Just because you may have purchased a Bengal hat one day does not make you a fan. SEE YA! We don't even know what ML is going to do to some of these guys. Remember, ML talks to these guys, he knows these guys. WE DON'T. If these guys become a cancer in the locker room, he will get rid of them no matter how talented they are (see Myles, Reggie & Dillon, Corey). Much has been made of the Brooks selection. Hunley knows this guy and knows his father. If he lets ML down, that is on him. Marvin is just giving him a chance. PLEASE FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO WORRY ABOUT!
