Spain
Whats this implosion in cincy about Character issues. The rat birds won a super bowl with their ex-cons. I can think of many teams that have one the big one with asome bad apples on board. Dear Lord LTwas on coke his whole career. Some of you guys need to take a step back and realize that a few failed drug test here and there is normal. The only guy that really worries me is Henry, Nicholson, Brooks,Ruker, and Odell were all first round talent that fell because of their off the feild problems. They are going to be a great base for our new 3-4 for years. Im personally glad to have them. What reallly matters is that they grow up. So before you start judging these guys think , if Henty wasnt here would the other incidents really be that important. the real ? is , Is Marvin smoking pot too. Is that why he drafted these guys? Simply because he doesnt care?
redsbengalsbucks
Spain, you dont have to be smoking pot to not care if 20 year olds are lighting up the wacky.I was a kid once upon a time, I realize that if I had half the money some of these kids do, I would have been doing stupid things also. The problem comes with Henry, repeatedly being a dumbass. The others have to grow up and quit causing problems. If it were me I would hire some trustworthy individual to be my guardian angel at all times. When I started doing an act that was foolish he would be there to step in and calmly advise me against it. This person would be hard to come by and the player would need to respect his decision making, but would solve most problems. In general I dont give a rat's ass if these players are flying high as long as they are smart enough to keep it under the radar of the NFL.Legalization of Mary-Jane would solve many problems, this is just another example. ShulaSteakhouse
How many games did LT miss his 2nd year, or ever, because of his coke problems, in his prime years?Henry and Odell are huge disappointments as people and now as players. They need to earn their way back into the good graces of fans and the team. Two complete phuqing moron punks. HoTbOy
I don't know if RLewis or JLewis or any other Raven had question marks about them before they were drafted, these people drew RED flags even before the draft, that's why I believe some of us are being hard on the Bengals, because they knew of these issues and they still drafted these players, if 1 or 2 players acted foolishly MAYBE it would not have had the effect it has had, but when everyone of them has been in the news for something it puts a negative light on your team.... ArmyBengal
Pollack, Brooks, Thurman, and Rucker as the LB corp ??You think Rucker and Brooks are going to get the starting role over Simmons AND LJ ?? I'll just agree to disagree...Spain's right.TDB, I'll remember this one !!! WHODEY !!!
bengalboomer7
Spain's right. He is right. And you all should be ashamed of yourselves for writing the topic off just because Spain started it.
Spain
Im thinking next year, and I dont see simmons in our long term plans. It would be too hard to start the 3-4 full time this year. LJ will probably be the main back up. Nicholson , Ahmad ,and , Rucker are all perfect for the 3-4. J smith is probably gone too.
ArmyBengal
Next year makes more sense, it will definitely be interesting to see !!!WHODEY !!!

Dadraftnick
Character becomes a concern when you cant stay out of jail, like in the Chris Henry situation. In the old days a guy could do almost anything and he would be covered by local cops or let go with a slap on the hands. Now the press would not let something like that happen. Now, even if you get a splap on the hands(from the courts), the league is going to suspend you.The next time Odel lights up ,for instance, he is gone for a year. When you look at a team like the old Raiders they were all nuts and dirty players,I dont know how they would fare in todays NFL.They did a lot of things that would get them suspended today. Its hard to justify a player on your roster when he cant get on the field because he is suspended all the time. And, even if you can justify it, how much can they contribute?Do you really want your cap dollars tied up in guys that you cant cut but, are suspended and contribute nothing?
