Florio's Power Rankings Bengals #19

HATERS! Here's the kicker, I somewhat agree.

He gave his reasoning, and it's the same reasoning we've been discussing the last few days, and he even states at one time he had us close to #1. He's predicting with all the "problems" we have on our team and with our lack of viable leadership(Mike Brown) at the top, it's a good chance the team will implode and the inmates will start running the asylum.

It could happen and it couldn't, but with the way this past offseason has gone it's a very real possiblity.

C'mon are there really 18 other teams better than da Bengals, I don't think so...I thought we would be at least 7-8 on his list....He acts as if the QB's on the team could not handle the ship until the bye if CPalmer can't start the season...AWright is not all that bad...and he says we have no JKitna to turn to SO WHAT JKitna had the Ferrari running like Hugo(Offense)...I really think that this guy hate the Bengals because he is a Steelers fan, I don't care if you don't like da Bengals they are better than #19...

Here's the problem with his reasoning: The "problems" aka the FAV FIVE, will not all make this team.

Frucker will not make this team for talent/ability reasons. He should never have been drafted where we did.

Cheech will not make this team because he has burnt the organization too many times, but they will wait till camp and use ability as the reason.

Odell will make it of course for obvious reasons... plus not enough info yet on why he was suspended.

Brooks is a ? because he may not have enough time to regain his form from 2 years ago. He will make the team if he really works his butt off and gets the knee in tip top shape.

Nicholson's speed is a ? for me. Is he fast enough to help on special teams? He wont be a starter so he has to be able to help somewhere. His B&E charge is not a big concern to me because it sounds like a little sour grapes from a former room-mate to me.

Point is, only 2 or 3 will eventually make this team, so the character issues will be less of a concern.

But then, I've never been very good at predicting our final roster. :D

The logic behind all this crap is just not correct. All of these problems are OFF the field issues. Anyone thinks that Marvin isn't THE dictator during the season and camp is way off base. All of this crap is happening when no one is there to babysit them during the off-season. Once camp starts we still have all the talent that got us the division title last year and we've even added some. Puting the bengals at #19 is just a symbolic attempt to place morals above talent and skill. The problem is that it has no basis in reality since football games are not decided by good deeds. Sure it would be nice if these guys were not in trouble, but as soon as the season starts that all gets forgotten. REMEMBER you cant spell dynasty without nasty.

The guy's premise is that Palmer will not be ready to play at full strength for 16 games. Assume for a moment that we have to go with Anthony Wright for 6-8 games. Would you rate this team higher than 15-20th in the league?

I also believe that he has a valid point about amassing too many turds. Every roster has a Tremain Mack, a Chris Henry or a Kyle Turley. The key is to surround them with decent guys so the inmates don't overtake the program.

It took a long time to get rid of attitudes like Pickens, Scott and Dillon. We don't want to see that again.

Somebody refresh my memory.

Did the sky ever fall on Chiken Little?

:lmao:

With some of these guys, they must live very sheltered lives to be so up in arms. Maybe some of those (emo's) that were being talked about at one point on here. Well, go back to listening to whatever ultra-depressing music you want to and maybe save everyone a lot of time by running the razor from the wrist to the elbow instead of across... Maybe their mother should have beaten them more...

Side note... I don't advocate suicide or endorse self-mutilation... I'm just sick of the whole pity party people seem to be throwing for themselves... Buck up b*ches !!!

WHODEY !!!

From a Steeler fan's perspective that is way too low for the Bengals. The only way I would rate them that low is if Palmer was still hurt; which he is not. I also think people are jumping on the Ravens' bandwagon a bit much.

Holy crap, I agree with a Steelers fan !!! Especially about the Ravens bandwagon !!!

WHODEY !!!

While I don't agree with a 19 ranking, most of his concerns are valid. I just don't see Marvin letting the "inmates run the asylum". I think our season hinges in the health of Palmer. If he can play all 16 games, I think we'll make the playoffs. If not, I think Wright is a capable back up, better than Kitna, but not good enough to get is to the playoffs, unless our defense really steps up.

I don't know, Wright in "this" offense is different than Wright in the Baltimore offense. Kitna was close to getting us to the playoffs in 2003 and Wright could do at least that well in my opinion. Do I want that ?? No, but then again, Carson would be back no later than the 5th game. We could go 2-2 and still be ok...

WHODEY !!!

Take Palmer out of the mix entirely and this is team is better than #19. The Bengals have IMHO the best Offensive Line in the AFC, we have two proven game breaking WRs, we have a Pro Bowl RB who has broken the all time team yardage record two years in a row, we have a ball hawking secondary that has two Pro Bowlers and a guy (Madieu) who will be a Pro Bowler soon, we have a young aggressive LBer corp, we have addressed our inability to stop the run up the middle by adding one of the best run stuffing DTs in the NFL, we have a Pro Bowl kicker, and we have one of the best head coaches in the NFL with competent assistant coaches. I can only come up with 8-10 teams better than the Bengals removing Palmer entirely and at most he will miss the first 4 games.
