Real Question

Recommended Posts

ok you guys can have fun with this if you want but I am planning on taking my son to the Bengals/Steelers game this year in Cincy he is 9 and never been to a game, I would take him with me to one of the Steelers games I go to in pittsburgh but with him having school the next day it would be to hard on him so the question I have is if it will be safe for me to bring a 9 year old to his 1st EVER game in cincy or will the fans of cincy scare him by acting like fools...

No, I don't think it will be a problem, as long as you're ok with the cussing. It gets bad no matter where you sit during the *stealers games. Many fights will break out, just don't be an ass and you guys will be just fine. It also depends on the situation this year, too. If we have he division wrapped up, you all won't have much to worry about. But if it's a tight race, tensions will be high. Basically, just use your judgement. We are not like the trash at Heinz field, we do have some respect for oter fans, even if they are *stealer faithfull.

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. There'll be plenty of energy in there, but 97% of the fans will be sportsmanlike about it. Being a fan is about respect.

true that I have to say I am looking forward to seeing your all's new Stadium for the 1st time., also any good place to eat around there you guys would suggest..

If you want to avoid some of rucus, spend a few extra bucks and get good club seats. The fans seem to be a little better behaved(in all stadiums)since they risk losing their season tickets if they get too crazy.

If you buy off ebay, you can ask the seller how the fans are in the area and other general info.

what is your budget?

Jeff Ruby's downtown has great steak but it is pretty pricey (dinner for two upwards of $100)

Rock Bottom Brewery has good beer (or so i'm told) and good pub fare (burgers and such).

Across the river in Newport there are lots of good places to eat. Hofbrauhaus has superb German food, The Claddaugh (sp?) has good Irish food, and Mitchell's fish Market has good seafood (though it too is reasonably expensive).

Of course if you want a true Cincinnati experience you will stop at Skyline Chili and have a Skyliner (cheese coney with onions and mustard), a 5 way (Chili with spaghetti, beans, onions, cheese), and snack on some gut bombs (oyster crackers loaded with hot sauce) then head down the street to Graeter's for some ice cream (Black Raspberry Chip is my favorite). Ask any local and they will be able to point you to the nearest Skyline and Graeters.

Anyone else here it fiond it curious that the guy witht he "Cincy Sucks" sig has the nerve to call Bengals fans fools?

I'm sure your son will have a great experience, as a child at my first game, a Charger fan dumped a beer on me in San Diego. I was cheering for the only TD the Bengals scored in a blowout loss.....

I'm sure the real fools that day will be wearing black and gold...

AARGH.... Bad typing.....

The lasting memory of my first NFL game...."Brian Sipe, get your head out of your a$$!!!" I was probably 8 or 9 and had never heard anything like that. I honestly don't remember anything else from that game.

But there is a way to attend road games and survive...I went to the Bengals game in Oakland and did fine. Just don't be an idiot and people will leave you alone.

As long as you are respectful I think they would be too! I ventured into Jersey to catch a Browns/Jets game (Although I am not a Browns fan I did root for them since I dislike the Jets.) I didn't get too out of hand and was very respectful of the people around me and they didn't bury me next to Hoffa under the endzone.

You will have a blast and he will love it too!

Brian Sipe, that names sounds familiar(probably not that uncommon of a name, though). You aren't from Georgetown, are you?

Go to Montgomery Inn (the real one). My best advice wouls be to just remember you have your kid with you. No one will bother you too much as long as you act respectfully and remember you're in somebody else's house.
